Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

The Vice-Dean looked at Zhao Rong with a righteous, utterly confident expression and declared, ”Because I am the reincarnation of Zhong Kui.”

Zhao Rong stared at the Vice-Dean, who bore an uncanny resemblance to the actor Wu Mengda and had a very punchable face. To hear this man claim that the reason he couldn’t catch ghosts was because he was the reincarnation of Zhong Kui?

The shock was so great that Zhao Rong fainted right there in the bathroom.

Seeing Zhao Rong pass out, the Vice-Dean helped him up and pinched his philtrum. ”Zhao Rong, don’t take it personally. Most people faint when they hear my secret. Even though no one around here believes that I, the Vice-Dean, am the reincarnation of Zhong Kui, I am certain that one day, I will prove to the world that I, Vice-Dean Fu Rong, am his true reincarnation.”

Zhao Rong swatted the Vice-Dean’s hand away from his face. ”Even if you beat me to death, I wouldn’t believe that a loser like you is the reincarnation of Zhong Kui,” he said, looking him in the eye. ”But I don’t care about that. What I care about is what the hell being the reincarnation of Zhong Kui has to do with you, a founder of the Ghost Hunting Academy, not being able to catch ghosts?”

Clearly, the Vice-Dean’s claim failed to explain his incompetence.

The Vice-Dean coughed, cleared his throat, and then stared at Zhao Rong with a solemn expression that was an unreadable mix of anger and joy. ”If I were to catch ghosts, the secrets of heaven would be revealed. As you know, the secrets of heaven must not be revealed. If they were, not only would I be unable to avenge my wife and daughter, but my body would rot away until I died. Therefore, to preserve the secrets of heaven, I absolutely cannot catch ghosts.”

Zhao Rong felt a wave of boredom wash over him. ”Since you know you can’t catch ghosts, why the hell did you create a Ghost Hunting Academy? Were you that bored?”

”Zhao Rong, I wasn’t bored,” the Vice-Dean explained. ”It was only after I founded the Ghost Hunting Academy that I discovered I was the reincarnation of Zhong Kui and thus couldn’t reveal the secrets of heaven or catch ghosts.”

Zhao Rong glanced at his watch, feeling he couldn’t stay in the bathroom any longer. ”I’m still baffled. If you’re a complete amateur, how did the students who came to your academy hoping to learn ghost-catching techniques actually learn anything?”

At this, the Vice-Dean’s chest puffed out with pride. ”Zhao Rong, there’s something you don’t know. At our Ghost Hunting Academy, every single ghost-catching skill was learned through practice—forced upon us by necessity. You see, in the early years after I founded the academy, any student who came here to learn either returned home in total failure or, because they lacked any ghost-catching skills, died of utter frustration in their battles with fierce ghosts. The first few classes of students either died on the path to becoming ghost hunters or perished in combat.”

”However,” he continued, ”as time went on, our Ghost Hunting Academy continuously learned from its experiences and failures. Eventually, we managed to develop a whole series of ghost-catching skills...”

As the Vice-Dean rambled on, seemingly with no end in sight, Zhao Rong cut him off. ”Vice-Dean, I have things to do. We can talk about your entrepreneurial history some other time.”

With that, Zhao Rong prepared to leave. He needed to register as a first-year student and then participate in the Ghost Hunting Academy’s annual Great Ghost Cleanup. After all, it was his first official day of class.

Sensing Zhao Rong’s impatience, the Vice-Dean quickly cut to the chase. ”Zhao Rong, I know you’re one hell of a guy. At the Manager Training Center, you crushed all sorts of hotshots. At the True Martial Sect, you even killed the Second True Mage and became the Sect Leader. You also went to Xijing University, humiliated the Four Vicious Beauties, killed the Four Vicious Young Masters, and took out Principal Frog-Shades. So, now that you’re here, I want to ask for your help. Help me find the person who murdered my wife and daughter, and then help me oust the Dean. If you can achieve these goals, I am willing to gift you the Ghost Hunting Academy, which I built with my own two hands, as a token of my gratitude.”

Hearing that the Vice-Dean would give him the entire academy if he succeeded, Zhao Rong was incredulous. ”If you give the Ghost Hunting Academy to me, where will you go?”

The Vice-Dean’s gaze grew distant. ”I have my own destination...”

Meanwhile, Zhao Rong’s assistant and the three women waiting outside the bathroom were getting anxious.

Lili checked her watch. ”Zhao Rong went into the bathroom with the Vice-Dean such a long time ago with just a roll of toilet paper. Why isn’t he out yet? Don’t tell me he and the Vice-Dean are... in there...”

Xuelian shook her head. ”Lili, Zhao Rong is definitely not that kind of person. There’s no way anything like that is happening with the Vice-Dean.”

Yu Lan, fidgeting nervously beside them, added, ”They’ve been in there for almost an hour! Why aren’t they out? Did they both fall into a latrine pit?”

Hearing the women’s chatter, the assistant chuckled. ”Since you three are so worried about Zhao Rong, I, his assistant, will go in and investigate.”

”Good, go check it out,” Lili instructed him immediately. ”But if you see anything... indecent, you shout, and the three of us will rush in to rescue our Zhao Rong!”

”Go quickly, Assistant!” Yu Lan urged. ”Or it might be too late!”

Although the assistant nodded vigorously, he didn’t move an inch.

Just as the other two were getting frantic, Lili fished a large pack of spicy strips from her bag and tossed it to him. ”Here. A big pack of spicy strips. That should be enough to cover your trouble, right?”

As soon as the spicy strips were in his hand, the assistant sprang into action. ”More than enough! I’m on it!”

With that, he charged into the bathroom.

Watching him go, Lili sighed. ”Well, they say money makes the world go ’round, but for our assistant, it seems spicy strips get him moving.”

Yu Lan watched the assistant’s eager dash, a frown on her face. ”I don’t know when it started, but he’s become obsessed with those spicy strips. What peculiar tastes he has.”

Hearing that spicy strips were the key to getting the assistant to work, Xuelian immediately took out her phone, opened an online shopping app, and ordered an entire case of them.

When the assistant entered the bathroom, the first thing he saw was a huge pile of used toilet paper on the floor.

His heart skipped a beat. No way! Did Zhao Rong and the Vice-Dean really use that much paper?

Then, he saw the Vice-Dean wiping tears from his eyes.

A shocking thought struck him. Damn... everyone assumed the Vice-Dean made a move on Zhao Rong, but what if it was Zhao Rong who made a move on the Vice-Dean?

Just as this thought crossed his mind, the Vice-Dean suddenly pulled a ring from his pocket. He looked at Zhao Rong and was just about to speak.

The assistant’s eyes went wide.

What the hell? Why is the Vice-Dean taking out a ring? Don’t tell me he’s going to propose to Zhao Rong in the bathroom?

Suddenly, the assistant bellowed, his voice echoing out of the bathroom.

”Lili! Yu Lan! Xuelian! Your beloved Zhao Rong is about to get a marriage proposal!”
