Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Zhao Rong clutched a roll of toilet paper, watching the Vice Dean walk into the restroom. Should I go in or not?

Undecided, Zhao Rong turned to his assistant and the women with him. ”Should I go in?”

His assistant burst out laughing. ”Of course you have to go in! The Vice Dean must be up to something important, and you have to cooperate with him...”

Miss Lili glanced at the toilet paper in Zhao Rong’s hand and giggled. ”Don’t tell me the Vice Dean is gay and has fallen for Zhao Rong’s good looks?”

Yu Lan was even more blunt. ”What else would you do with toilet paper in a restroom? Obviously, he’s going to go jerk off. Don’t you dare go in, Zhao Rong! Be careful, or the Vice Dean will mesmerize you...”

Meanwhile, Xuelian fished Zhao Rong’s phone out of his pocket, deleted the handful of videos he had saved on it, and said, ”Without these, let’s see how you two manage now.”

Just then, the Vice Dean’s head peeked out from the restroom. He clutched his phone in his left hand while gesturing frantically to Zhao Rong with his right. ”Zhao Rong, come quick! We have to hurry, or we’ll be too late!”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong grimaced but nodded. ”Alright, I’m on my way.”

He was utterly bewildered as he watched the Vice Dean disappear back into the restroom. What on earth does this guy want? We just met, and he hands me a roll of toilet paper and asks me into the restroom? With that thought, Zhao Rong entered.

The moment he was inside, the Vice Dean charged, slamming him against the wall. He stared at Zhao Rong, his eyes hazy, and stammered, ”Zhao Rong, I...”

The Vice Dean had only gotten out the word ”I” before Zhao Rong seized him by the collar and punched him in the stomach. Then, he grabbed the man’s hair and drove a knee into his chin. In a few swift moves, Zhao Rong had the Vice Dean sprawled on the floor.

He straightened his clothes, tossed the roll of toilet paper onto the man’s body, and spat, ”Damn it, what do you take me for? I’m a real man! You wanted to pin me to the wall? You’ve got a death wish.”

The Vice Dean scrambled up from the floor and looked at Zhao Rong with an aggrieved expression. ”Could you at least let me finish what I was saying before you hit me?”

Zhao Rong fought the urge to hit him again. ”You said ’I,’ and I knew exactly what was coming next!” His next words were definitely going to be ’like you.’ Put them together and it’s ’I like you.’

The Vice Dean looked pained and miserable. ”Zhao Rong, I was going to say, ’I thank you,’ not ’I like you...’”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong almost fainted from shock. He looked at the Vice Dean, embarrassed, and asked, ”We’re complete strangers. We just met. Why would you thank me?”

The Vice Dean picked up the toilet paper, his gaze full of deep emotion as he said, ”Because a little while ago, you saved my wife and my daughter.”

Zhao Rong’s head snapped around, his eyes as sharp as an eagle’s. ”You mean that mother and daughter pair of ghost dolls I saved in the villa... they’re your wife and daughter?”

The Vice Dean tore off a piece of toilet paper and wiped his nose. ”That’s right. They are my wife and my daughter.”

Zhao Rong gasped. ”But they’re ghosts! You’re the Vice Dean of the Ghost Hunting Academy. How can you have a ghost wife and a ghost daughter?”

The Vice Dean used another piece of toilet paper to wipe away his tears. ”It’s a tragic story. I once had a happy family and a beautiful villa where spring was always in bloom. But one day, I woke up to find my wife lying at the foot of the stairs on the first floor, and my daughter... she was lying right beside her.”

As he finished, his voice choked with sobs. ”From that day on, my wife and daughter were gone from my life forever. We were parted, one in the world of the living, and they in the world of the dead.”

He kept tearing off pieces of toilet paper, wiping away the endless stream of snot and tears as he spoke. Zhao Rong watched the Vice Dean sobbing uncontrollably and found himself becoming deeply interested in the man’s story.

”Who killed your wife and daughter?” Zhao Rong asked.

The Vice Dean shook his head helplessly. ”To this day, I still haven’t found the monster who harmed them.”

Hearing that their deaths were an unsolved case, Zhao Rong felt a pang of sympathy. ”Vice Dean, don’t despair. I, Zhao Rong, am willing to help you find the real killer.”

The Vice Dean, however, seemed to have given up all hope. ”I suspect the one who killed my wife and daughter wasn’t human... but a ghost.”

At last, Zhao Rong understood why the Vice Dean had founded a Ghost Hunting Academy in a place like Wang Family Village.

Zhao Rong surmised, ”So, because you suspect a fierce ghost was the true killer, you established the Ghost Hunting Academy? You hoped that one day, you would master the Great Way, become the king of ghost hunters, and finally capture the malevolent spirit that murdered your family. Is that right?”

The Vice Dean continued to rip up toilet paper and dry his eyes. ”Yes, my sole purpose for founding the Ghost Hunting Academy was to catch the killer. But I never imagined that just as the academy was getting on its feet, a terrible disaster would strike the entire Wang Family Village, turning every single person here into a ghost.”

So that was why the Ghost Hunting Academy was located in the haunted Wang Family Village. It was all a coincidence.

Zhao Rong pressed on. ”Since you’re the Vice Dean of the Ghost Hunting Academy, your mana must be the strongest here. If that’s the case, why didn’t you preserve the souls of your wife and daughter? You could have hidden them somewhere safe until you caught the killer and revealed the truth. Then you could have sent them on to be reincarnated, allowing them to rest in peace.”

The Vice Dean explained awkwardly, ”Although I founded the Ghost Hunting Academy... when it comes to actually catching ghosts, I’m probably not even as skilled as you. I’m a complete amateur.”

Hearing that the founder of the Ghost Hunting Academy couldn’t even catch ghosts, Zhao Rong was so shocked he plopped right down on the floor. He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. ”Vice Dean, are you supposed to be the comic relief? Usually, a founder is a Sect Leader, a company executive, or at least an authority at the academy. But for the founder of the Ghost Hunting Academy to not know how to hunt ghosts... I really didn’t see that coming.”

At his words, the Vice Dean suddenly stopped crying. He used the last bit of toilet paper, then looked at Zhao Rong with a mysterious expression. ”I hold a shocking secret. Once I tell you, you’ll understand why I, the founder of the Ghost Hunting Academy, don’t know how to catch ghosts.”

Intrigued, Zhao Rong’s eyes widened as he stared at the Vice Dean. ”You say...?”
