Reborn As Super Heiress

Tong Jian and his wife suddenly changed their expressions and glared at Huo Sining: ”You’re enforcing the law violently!”

Huo Sining shook her head repeatedly: ”Tongtong is not legally adopted by you, and there’s a financial transaction between you and Elisa. This can be easily verified by checking the bank transaction records. I suppose Mr. Tong wouldn’t deny this?”

”The child is unregistered with you, which further proves what I said is true, doesn’t it? If you try to argue, I believe many neighbors around are more than willing to testify for me.”

Tong Jian was indeed rendered speechless by Huo Sining’s words, and he believed that Huo Sining was not exaggerating. Over the years, the neighbors nearby have had various petty disputes with Zhang Jing, ranging from altercations to physical fights, nearly offending everyone around. If these people were to testify, they would surely stand up without hesitation.

At this moment, Tong Jian couldn’t help but feel a silent fury and resentment. If it weren’t for his wife’s stubborn refusal to register Tongtong under their household, and her endless excuses to prevent the child from attending school, combined with her rash and unrestrained temper, refusing to get along with the neighbors, things wouldn’t have developed to this extent.

Thinking about this, Tong Jian couldn’t help but glare angrily at his wife.

Zhang Jing also felt at a loss for words, her eyes began to flicker, and she turned her head somewhat guiltily, not daring to look at her husband again.

”Lawyer Huo, although you have money, the law is not just set up for you wealthy people. Don’t forget, we’ve reached an agreement with Miss Elisa to adopt her child. It was Miss Elisa’s own initiative, right? We’re not breaking the law, are we? Besides, if you’re going to accuse me, the crime of human trafficking is a mutual action. If we’re truly convicted, Miss Elisa will probably not escape punishment either, right?”

Tong Jian, being quick-witted, quickly grasped the key point and spoke directly.

Huo Sining shrugged: ”Reached an agreement? Where is this agreement? Can you produce it?”

Tong Jian was suddenly left speechless. They indeed reached an agreement with Elisa, but it was all verbal. At the time, the couple feared leaving evidence that might make Elisa backtrack, so they never thought of drafting any documentation, and Elisa, being cautious, would never voluntarily provide such a thing. Thus, the adoption process was completed under such circumstances.

Now that Huo Sining asked Tong Jian and his wife to provide the agreement, they were at a loss for what to do.

Huo Sining had anticipated this outcome long ago and was not surprised, her lips curled slightly as she continued:

”As for your claim that Tongtong being brought to your house was an action between you and Elisa, if that is investigated and deemed factual, the law will indeed not spare any wrongdoers. Miss Elisa will also have to face legal consequences, which is not contradictory.”

Huo Sining looked seriously and sternly at Tong Jian and his wife as she spoke.

Tong Jian and Zhang Jing exchanged glances, unsure of what this woman was up to.

Wasn’t this woman supposed to be Elisa’s proxy lawyer? Why was she talking about punishing Elisa? Who was she really helping?

In Huo Sining’s eyes flashed a thick mocking expression, her lips curled unconsciously. Her genuine thought was that to punish Elisa, they would first need to find her. The main figure isn’t around anymore, so they’d have to catch her first.

However, Huo Sining didn’t disclose this fact. Otherwise, if Tong Jian and Zhang Jing knew Elisa had passed away, who knows what other troubles they might cause.

Soon after, the couple was taken away by the police. At the police station, someone immediately took over the case and started the interrogation.

Since Tong Jian and his wife hadn’t anticipated this sudden situation, they hadn’t aligned their stories in advance. Upon arriving at the station, they were separated into different interrogation rooms for questioning. Intimidated by the police’s aura, they began to confess their actions one after the other.

Of course, what they confessed was a mix of truth and lies, but since the couple lacked any mutual understanding, many of their statements contradicted each other. The police scrutinized their testimonies, identified the discrepancies, and re-interrogated them. Facing exposure, Tong Jian and Zhang Jing couldn’t withstand the pressure, eventually confessing everything honestly.

Huo Sining and the others were seated inside the police station. The Jinling Police Department’s chief personally received them, not daring to be lax. Putting aside Huo Sining’s status, just Yingzi showing her special department credentials was enough to terrify the chief. He treated the three like royalty, urging his subordinates to speed up their work, afraid of displeasing these ladies.

Huo Sining disliked exploiting authority to intimidate others, but the couple of Tong Jian and Zhang Jing completely lowered her standards. Such shameless people feared nothing for benefits, and if not for utilizing official power, these two simply wouldn’t comply.

When the interrogation results were brought out, not only Su Qingqing and Yingzi but also the police at the station were indignant, gnashing their teeth in hatred towards Tong Jian and Zhang Jing.

”Making a four or five-year-old child wash vegetables and cook for them, while also taking care of their own son; this couple surely found a way to profit!”

”Taking someone else’s money to raise their own son, while mistreating another’s daughter, yet greedily wanting even more money; does this couple have any sense of shame?”

”That’s not all; they deprive the child of food, clothing, and in the dead of winter, how could they bear not giving her registration or school access, planning to have her be their lifelong maid. Is there anything this cheap in the world? It’s truly shameless!”

”Even after losing the child, they’re not anxious to find her, nor did they report it to the police; they planned to cover it up and came up with a Pillar-Switching Scam to deceive Miss Huo further, what a cunning plot!”

”Such people deserve to be caught, aside from their threat of demanding money from Miss Huo which counts as fraud, alone the charge of child abuse is enough to convict them for years; such individuals absolutely mustn’t be let off easily!”

”I used to think Miss Huo Sining was purposely targeting the couple, but now it’s clear, they truly deserve their fate!”
