Reborn As Super Heiress

Zhang Jing groggily opened her eyes, only to see a face right in front of hers, covered with red rashes, with only a pair of eyes barely visible.

”Ah—ghost—”

Zhang Jing shuddered with fright, almost losing her soul in terror, and couldn’t help but scream sharply.

”Wife, it’s me, it’s me!”

Seeing Zhang Jing scared, Tong Jian quickly reached out to cover Zhang Jing’s mouth, stopping her from screaming, then spoke to remind her.

Upon hearing it’s her husband, Zhang Jing was stunned and immediately pried off Tong Jian’s arms, looking at the person in front of her, neither human nor ghost, with a look of disbelief:

”Husband? Why is it you? You—smell so bad, what on earth is going on, how did you—end up like this?”

Tong Jian also felt like crying: ”I don’t know either, wife. I was sleeping well, felt itchy, then scratched and woke up. I went to the washroom and found these things growing all over me, and they’re still growing. The more I scratch, the itchier they get, and the more they grow.”

Zhang Jing’s face suddenly froze. Looking at Tong Jian’s horrible appearance, she started to feel itchy too, possibly due to psychological reasons.

Especially as Tong Jian continued describing: ”These things can pile up, filled with pus, break easily with a poke, and the bad smell comes from the pus...”

Zhang Jing felt her hand was completely out of control, unconsciously reaching to scratch her back.

As a result, that scratch caused big trouble.

Zhang Jing scratched her back with her nails, and her expression suddenly changed as her whole body stiffened unconsciously.

She suddenly lifted her head, her face pale, trembling as she looked at Tong Jian and said:

”Husband! Can you... can you take a look at my... my back, are there bumps too?”

Tong Jian was stunned upon hearing this, and he looked at Zhang Jing in disbelief. He reached out, trembling, to lift Zhang Jing’s nightgown.

One look and Tong Jian was dumbfounded. Seeing that Zhang Jing seemed to want to reach up to scratch her neck and cheeks, he suddenly shouted sternly: ”Don’t move! Don’t scratch, you mustn’t scratch!”

Zhang Jing’s arm stopped midway upon hearing Tong Jian’s serious and tense command.

Realizing something, Zhang Jing turned to look at her husband in shock.

”Husband... I... I also...”

Tong Jian nodded: ”There’s a large patch on your back, don’t scratch; I experimented before, the more you scratch, the more they grow. Don’t move, get dressed first, let’s hurry to the hospital; I suspect it’s chickenpox or something similar.”

Zhang Jing nodded, her eyes filled with panic.

Even though she couldn’t see the condition of her own body, Tong Jian was now covered in such bumps, completely surrounded by red rashes, with his real appearance entirely obscured.

The thought of becoming like Tong Jian filled Zhang Jing with disgust and fear.

Men might not care about appearances, so even if covered in bumps, not many would care excessively.

But for women, it’s different; a woman’s face is extremely important, especially for a vain woman like Zhang Jing, who always wears makeup to go out, always acting like a wealthy lady, never hesitating to use various skincare products—if her appearance were truly ruined, it would be a fatal blow for her.

Hearing Tong Jian mention going to the hospital, Zhang Jing hurriedly climbed out of bed. Seeing their son still sleeping soundly in bed, the couple didn’t bother with him and rushed out to the hospital.

On the way to the hospital, Zhang Jing was struggling hard, because once the bumps on her back flared up, the unbearable itching sensation became uncontrollable; it was unbearable before the rashes appeared, but now that they had appeared, anyone with normal touch couldn’t endure such torment.

At least, Zhang Jing couldn’t tolerate it; while Tong Jian kept persuading and stopping her, she could maintain control, but gradually, the tingling itchiness eroded her rationality, completely stripping her of the ability to think, leaving her only with the instinct to itch all over.

Not only Zhang Jing, but Tong Jian as well; the couple scratched their way to the hospital, and upon entering the emergency room, the doctors were taken aback by their condition, and quickly proceeded to diagnose them.

The doctors initially thought the couple had eaten something wrong causing skin allergies, but after a series of diagnoses, they furrowed their brows.

Not only that doctor but other department doctors were drawn to this bizarre case.

Six or seven on-duty doctors gathered around Tong’s couple’s hospital bed, observing carefully and sharing their opinions, yet unable to find the root of the issue, let alone offer a definitive treatment.

Faced with this situation, Tong Jian and Zhang Jing were dumbfounded.

Originally, they thought that once they got to the hospital, everything would be solved, and the itchy feeling could be alleviated and relieved, but they never imagined that the doctors would be helpless against a mere skin disease!

Infuriated, Tong Jian and Zhang Jing began angrily berating the doctors and decided to leave, planning to try a different hospital.

Watching the couple walk out the emergency room door, several nurses wanted to persuade them further but heard an older emergency room doctor say:

”Let them go if they want to; this symptom is no ordinary illness. If our hospital can’t treat it, other hospitals surely can’t.”

Hearing the doctor’s words, Tong Jian and Zhang Jing were furious, believing the doctor was fear-mongering, and left with a cold sneer without looking back.

Several nurses were also quite angry with the couple’s attitude, mumbling indignantly: ”Such people, suffering like this from a skin disease, deserve to itch to death!”

But the old doctor shook his head: ”If I’m not mistaken, this isn’t a disease, it’s a curse (’蛊’).”

Upon hearing this, the nurses were dumbfounded, and even the nearby doctors looked puzzled: ”Curse? Doctor Qi, you’re not joking, right?”

The doctor shook his head and said: ”If I weren’t confident, do you think I’d say this? I just examined them; the rashes on their bodies don’t spread to others, but grow rapidly on themselves, and both husband and wife have this symptom simultaneously, with such perfect timing—it’s definitely no coincidence!”
