Reborn As Super Heiress

After returning to the Imperial Capital, Gu Xu immediately brought out the document he had unexpectedly obtained in Mexico and headed straight to Chief Lu’s house with Song Hui.

Huo Sining had also seen the document and naturally understood what Gu Xu intended to do. Those details about the drug cartel’s branches and new drugs were certainly not of interest to Chief Lu; however, evidence of transactions between celebrities and Tranleva was a tremendous weapon. If used well, it could become a potent tool in future confrontations between Huaxia Country and other nations, potentially dismantling enemy camps without a single soldier.

Such a huge leverage falling into the hands of Huo Sining and Gu Xu was definitely a hot potato, but handing it over to Chief Lu was a different story. It could not only transfer the animosity and aggression but also provide significant support to Chief Lu.

As Huo Sining had predicted, after Gu Xu presented the confidential document, Chief Lu was immediately shocked. On one hand, he pursued questions about the origin of the document from Gu Xu, and on the other, he promptly summoned experts to further confirm and verify the relevant information within the document.

Upon learning about Huo Sining and Gu Xu’s experiences in Mexico, and after hearing from relevant personnel the accuracy and authenticity of this document, Chief Lu immediately realized the seriousness of the matter.

Suppressing his excitement, he immediately instructed customs departments to strictly inspect all entry personnel in the near future. After all, Huo Sining and Gu Xu had entered Mexico using their real names, and it’s conceivable that those drug dealers, in their desperation, might secretly infiltrate the country to assassinate the two.

Moreover, Chief Lu even made an exception to assign each Huo Sining and Gu Xu a bodyguard, as their personal security, to protect them closely at all times.

The bodyguard protecting Huo Sining was someone Chief Lu had been considering beforehand, a recently retired female special forces soldier known for her strength and quick adaptability.

Regarding Chief Lu’s arrangement, although Huo Sining felt it was completely unnecessary, she was still full of gratitude towards Chief Lu.

From the arrangements made by the old man, Huo Sining could discern his concern and favoritism towards her. Not for any other reason, but because the old man hadn’t even assigned special forces bodyguards to his daughter-in-law, Song Xiangxue, or his daughter, Lu Tianqi, yet he thought of finding a suitable bodyguard for her. Such thoughtfulness, even if Huo Sining was unaware of her blessings, she couldn’t ignore it.

However, Huo Sining didn’t believe those Mexican drug dealers had the audacity. In Mexico, being local emperors without anyone to regulate them, those thugs could naturally rule. But once in the country, even a dragon would have to coil up.

The country was Huo Sining and Gu Xu’s domain. Here, they could act freely, and surely Elder Lu would be able to suppress any matters, as long as it wasn’t excessive or making a public spectacle, essentially no one would dare pursue it.

Huo Sining was confident, if those people didn’t come, so be it. If they dared to come, she could guarantee they wouldn’t leave!

With such thoughts, after returning to the Imperial Capital, Huo Sining didn’t harbor any vigilance and continued life as usual. But she had just gotten used to the early pregnancy discomfort and within two days, she received a call from Auntie Li, who was staying at the villa in S City.

”Miss Huo, there’s a package outside our house, said to be for you, and you’re requested to sign for it.”

Huo Sining was stunned for a moment, finding it strange. She didn’t recall buying anything, so how could there be a package, and it being sent to S City was even stranger. Because it was the winter holiday, the school was empty, and she had already relocated to the Imperial Capital, with no one in S City, how could a package be sent there?

With these thoughts in mind, Huo Sining casually instructed Auntie Li: ”Oh, I see. Auntie Li, you can sign for it on my behalf; I’ll check it when I return to S City.”

Upon hearing Huo Sining’s instruction, Auntie Li chuckled bitterly: ”If I could sign for you, I wouldn’t have bothered to call. The delivery guy insists it can’t be signed on your behalf; only you in person can sign for it.”

Must be signed in person? Huo Sining found it increasingly peculiar. Domestic courier services had long abandoned such rigid policies, what courier company service was this, so troublesome?

Huo Sining was about to complain when something sprang to mind, and a shiver ran down her spine, suddenly cautious, thinking perhaps those Mexican drug dealers had tracked her home, found no one, and were purposely pretending to be a delivery man to lure her into a trap?

Thinking thus, Huo Sining couldn’t help overthinking, her mind recalling past news she’d seen about single women opening their doors to delivery personnel, only to be killed or raped by disguised criminals. She grew suspicious and couldn’t help but reveal a hint in her words over the phone:

”Auntie Li, what does this delivery person look like? A Huaxia person or a foreigner? Did he say what’s inside the package?”

Auntie Li was momentarily taken aback, then asked curiously: ”He’s a Huaxia person, doesn’t seem very old, wearing a standard courier uniform. But isn’t this something you ordered, Miss? You don’t know what the package is either? That’s strange, the delivery guy said you knew. Should I ask him again?”

Huo Sining waited for a while, and after some time, Auntie Li picked up the phone again, saying:

”I asked him again. The delivery guy said he doesn’t know what’s inside either, he was just told to deliver it. All he knows is that it’s an international package with VIP service. The client put a considerable safety deposit on it, requesting that no matter how difficult, they must deliver it personally to you and watch you sign for it to complete the task.”

Hearing Auntie Li’s words, Huo Sining became even more anxious. A package made so mysterious, utterly disregarding costs, such a method was very much in line with those Mexican drug dealers’ style. Could this package really be sent by those drug dealers, and what’s inside—could it be a threatening letter, an animal carcass, or a time bomb?

Huo Sining suddenly felt her breath stutter. She was about to instruct Auntie Li to quickly send the delivery guy away and was even planning, after hanging up, to immediately call the police and have Magic Capital’s police investigate what exactly was going on.
