Reborn As Super Heiress

Under the watchful eye of the police, Huo Sining swaggered outward. After leaving the marketplace, she didn’t dare to reveal herself, casually boarding a bus, and only after riding several stops did she dare to get off, finding a hidden spot shielded by a building to finally release Gu Xu.

”What’s the situation?”

Once out of Space, Gu Xu quickly realized they weren’t in the Tepito Marketplace any longer and couldn’t help but look at his wife.

Huo Sining recounted the events at the marketplace. After hearing that the police and thugs were colluding together, Gu Xu’s brow furrowed tightly:

”The police can access a lot of information. If those drug lords are in cahoots with the police, this matter becomes difficult. Every move we make is very likely monitored by these people at all times.”

Huo Sining obviously realized this issue too. She frowned, looking at Gu Xu: ”What to do then? Ouyang Jun is now uncertain in life or death, and we’re again in a passive situation. Aren’t we in a bind?”

Gu Xu furrowed his brows tightly, and after a while said: ”We definitely can’t go back to the hotel now. I estimate those drug lords have targeted us, they must have thoroughly investigated our information, maybe even sent people to wait for us at the hotel. Going back now would be throwing ourselves into the net.”

”Let’s find a guesthouse to stay for now. The key now is to figure out what Jun Zi did exactly, why so many people are chasing him. Once we understand this, we can proceed accordingly.”

The two exchanged a glance, instantly tying key clues to the cell phone they found in the trash heap.

Not daring to take the bus, the two searched the strategy nearby, using a phone to search online for places in Mexico City that specifically offer lodging for Chinese people.

It’s too dangerous here now. Huo Sining didn’t dare trust those Mexicans casually, only feeling safe with Huaxia people.

With this search, Huo Sining indeed found a hotel that specifically provides temporary accommodation for Huaxia people. The conditions were just a bit crude, but under these circumstances, Huo Sining and Gu Xu didn’t have the luxury to be picky about the environment, as long as it was fit for staying.

The two hailed a taxi, heading to the location of that Chinese hotel.

The taxi driver in the cab was a middle-aged man in his forties. Seeing Huo Sining and Gu Xu, two Huaxia people, he couldn’t help but glance a few more times.

Huo Sining and Gu Xu immediately felt alert. Initially intending to provide the name of the hotel, they somehow exchanged a glance and reported an intersection roughly a kilometer away from that Chinese hotel instead.

The driver didn’t find it suspicious and directly took them there.

Half an hour later, they smoothly arrived at the location. After hurriedly getting off the car, they blended into the crowd.

Initially, the taxi driver thought these were simply an Asian couple and didn’t mind, yet after he had just driven away, he soon received a call from above, telling him to watch out. If he picked up a Chinese couple, he should immediately report the information to headquarters, as this couple is currently the criminal suspects under investigation by the police.

Upon hearing this, the taxi driver was startled, instinctively stamped the brake, and glanced in the direction where the couple had disembarked. But by this time, the pair had already merged into the flow of people, and their traces were nowhere to be seen.

The taxi driver thought it must be a coincidence; those two looked far from being heinous criminals, perhaps it was just a coincidence.

However, thinking this way, the taxi driver still felt a bit uneasy. After much internal struggle, he eventually picked up the phone and dialed headquarters.

Meanwhile, Huo Sining and Gu Xu, having gotten off the car, wandered around the street, leveraging various buildings, invisibly traveled several blocks. Not only that, but they also changed their outfits, changing the colors of their clothes, donned baseball caps and sneakers. After repeated changes, they finally arrived at the front of the Chinese hotel.

By this time, night had fallen, and the street where the Chinese hotel was located had lit up brightly, the streetlights glowing.

Upon entering the hotel, they saw a forty-something plump woman with bouncy curls nodding off at the bottom bar. The Chinese hotel was much like the very low-grade inns in China, making Huo Sining doubt whether this kind of place could actually accommodate anyone.

After entering the room, Huo Sining lightly tapped the desk’s surface. The sound quickly woke the plump woman, who raised her head with sleepy eyes to glance at Huo Sining and Gu Xu, asking indifferently: ”Staying?”

Gu Xu nodded: ”Yes. Staying.”

After confirming Gu Xu and Huo Sining were both Chinese people, the middle-aged woman directly tossed a price list: ”Single room, 160 a night, standard room 210 a night, hot water and air conditioning charged separately, price list is here.”

At this moment, Gu Xu and Huo Sining were wholly focused on the cell phone, so the issue of lodging amount was of no concern; hence they didn’t bother haggling with the middle-aged woman and directly took out a wad of Peso to pay.

for a standard room, according to Peso exchange rate to RMB, would be just over seventy yuan, which was nothing for Huo Sining and Gu Xu.

Unexpectedly, upon seeing Gu Xu take out cash, the woman directly tapped the desk surface, saying: ”Check the notes behind. I said 210, it’s not Pesos.”

Gu Xu and Huo Sining were stunned, lowered their heads to look at the price list, and sure enough, saw a small line at the bottom.

This hotel doesn’t accept Peso, only RMB.

Gu Xu couldn’t help but arch his eyebrows: ”Miss, the 210 fee for the standard room, is that RMB?”

The middle-aged woman glanced at Gu Xu impassively, flipping her eyes with irritation: ”What else?”

Indeed, very Huaxia style!

Gu Xu didn’t expect that such black-market tactics, shown often in exposés on TV in Huaxia, of ambiguously marking prices and cheating consumers, he hadn’t encountered in Huaxia but right here in Mexico.

Gu Xu was simply torn between laughter and tears, but at this moment they indeed found nowhere else to stay. Comparatively, the less formal this hotel was, the less likely they’d be spotted.

Thus, under these circumstances, both Huo Sining and Gu Xu could only admit bad luck, obediently fork over cash. Finally, after paying nearly three hundred RMB, the miss escorted them to their booked room.
