Reborn As Super Heiress

The expression on Ouyang Jun’s face clearly conveyed the message that if you managed to save your life this time, it was entirely because of my blessing, my buddy.

Elisa tilted her head to look at Locke and Jason, the questioning look in her eyes was obvious; she wanted to find out if Locke and Jason knew anything about it.

”Yes, yes, Mr. Ouyang is telling the truth. If it weren’t for Miss Huo, Elisa, you might still be unconscious right now. Miss Huo is truly amazing, she gave you a pill and then massaged your body’s acupuncture points. In just over ten minutes, your fever subsided and your complexion improved significantly.”

Locke and Jason had almost forgotten about Huo Sining’s miraculous skill set until Ouyang Jun reminded them. They immediately snapped back to reality, explaining it to Elisa, and then both looked at Huo Sining with admiration, seeming eager to further question Huo Sining about the specific details of the secret technique of Huaxia Chinese medicine she had just performed.

Seeing the expressions of these two foreigners, Huo Sining suddenly felt a headache and couldn’t help but chuckle dryly, trying to brush it off:

”It’s not that exaggerated, haha, saving a life is better than building a seven-tiered pagoda. I just did it in passing, just in passing, haha.”

Despite saying this, Huo Sining no longer dared to meet their eyes or continue the conversation. Foreigners’ curiosity was simply too heavy.

Elisa was unwilling to believe that her injury was actually healed by this woman in front of her using Chinese medicine. But this incident was witnessed firsthand by Locke and Jason, whose honesty she couldn’t doubt. So Elisa knew this was likely true.

She had previously used Ouyang Jun, even naively dragging him into this matter. Elisa knew at that moment that Ouyang Jun could very likely lose his life because of this, yet she did it anyway.

To complete her mission, she did not hesitate to sacrifice an outsider. What she didn’t expect was that in the end, not only did she need this stranger to complete the mission, but even her life was saved by this stranger.

Elisa’s eyes flickered with complex emotions—guilt, regret, embarrassment, lingering fear, and shame—all these mixed emotions left her at a loss for how to face these three people in front of her.

People like them weren’t supposed to have such multifaceted emotions, nor should they be indecisive and soft-hearted. All her life, she underwent devilish training at the base, learning the most was the phrase ’every man for himself.’ Aside from obeying orders from the base and the company, as mercenaries, they weren’t allowed to have feelings; they were to stop at nothing to achieve their goals.

But at this moment, facing the genuine smiles of these three people, the only emotion Elisa could feel was envy.

This Miss Huo and Mr. Gu learned about Ouyang Jun’s danger and immediately rushed from their country to rescue him, risking everything. Such friendship was enviable indeed.

Although Locke and Jason were also willing to risk their lives, Elisa was certain that these two weren’t risking themselves for her, but to complete the company’s mission.

Moreover, she knew very well that if this mission failed, even if Locke and Jason reported back to the company, they wouldn’t escape blame. Even if they managed to survive, they would surely have to bear significant consequences, perhaps even more terrifying than losing their lives.

As for the company’s methods dealing with failures, Elisa understood them better than anyone because, as a veteran of the company, she was very familiar with its style of doing business.

Ouyang Jun appeared unreliable, but unexpectedly, he had friends willing to go through fire and water for him.

Elisa looked at Gu Xu and Huo Sining with a trace of admiration and a touch of gratitude in her eyes:

”Miss Huo, Mr. Gu, thank you both for your selfless help. As for the earlier situation using Mr. Ouyang, it was an act of desperation. I apologize here, Mr. Ouyang. Without you, I definitely couldn’t have escaped from those drug dealers’ torment.”

Ouyang Jun, previously full of pent-up frustration due to the inexplicable pursuit by drug dealers, had planned to angrily confront Elisa. But seeing her straightforward demeanor, Ouyang Jun felt somewhat deflated. If he dwelled on it so much, he wouldn’t be manly.

He reluctantly opened his mouth but ended up swallowing his words and waved his hand, saying:

”Forget it, forget it, we’re all Huaxia people. This time, I’ll consider it a charitable act. As an Imperial Capital man, if I really argue with you about this, my friends back home would laugh their heads off.”

Seeing Ouyang Jun not planning to hold a grudge, Elisa’s previously stern expression finally softened into a smile:

”Once I finish reporting back to the company, I’ll surely come to the Imperial Capital to visit you all. Also, I’ll cover all the expenses for your trip to Mexico this time, no worries!”

Hearing about money, Ouyang Jun suddenly remembered:

”Speaking of which, I remembered that those drug dealers took my SLR camera. I had taken so many photos, and now they’re all gone! You must compensate me for my losses, and my two friends traveled a long way to save someone, we can’t let them pay out of their pockets.”

”Since this was a life-and-death mission, the rewards must be substantial, right? Don’t blame me for asking a lot, but in terms of finalizing the mission, the reward your company gives you, we should at least get half each, or it’s no deal!”

Had it been anyone else, hearing Ouyang Jun’s demand for half of the hard-earned reward might have caused immediate outrage. However, this woman named Elisa had a good temper; she didn’t get angry or hesitate and agreed quite generously.

”Not only will I give you half, but even if you take it all, I wouldn’t have any objections. It’s not worth worrying about such things. If it weren’t for you and your two friends, today I, Elisa, would be kneeling in Mexico with no life to escape!”

Ouyang Jun was quite satisfied with Elisa’s attitude. Seeing her being so accepting, he nodded repeatedly, muttering, ”That’s more like it.”

Huo Sining and Gu Xu, however, were not interested in Elisa’s mission reward. They were curious about the memory card hidden inside the phone, but it was apparent that, even if Huo Sining asked, Elisa might not be willing to reveal anything.
