Reborn As Super Heiress

Huo Sining’s words made Zhang Jing and Tong Jian’s faces change simultaneously.

The couple exchanged a glance, seemingly thinking that Huo Sining was bluffing them, and they hoped to continue covering up their lies:

”No, Lawyer Huo, you’ve really misunderstood. We spoiled Tongtong too much. This morning, my wife spoke harshly to her, and the kid got upset with her. I guess you saw it when you entered; she was crying just when you walked in. Kids like to lie, and their tempers are a bit stubborn; you’ve really misunderstood...”

Huo Sining sneered slightly, nodded, and asked, ”So, this child is Elisa’s daughter then? Are you sure this child isn’t from your relative’s family?”

Tong Jian and Zhang Jing nodded repeatedly and affirmed: ”This is definitely Tongtong!”

Huo Sining nodded and said, ”Alright, this time I’m here entrusted by Elisa to take Tongtong home. Given that, I’ll just take the child away now!”

Saying this, Huo Sining took Liu Jingjing’s hand and turned to leave.

Tong Jian and Zhang Jing were dumbfounded. They initially thought that as long as they fooled Huo Sining, they could secretly cover up Tongtong’s disappearance without anyone knowing. Then, in the future, they wouldn’t have to raise the child and could get a large amount of support money for free.

However, they never expected the plot to take such a turn at this moment.

Seeing Huo Sining pulling Liu Jingjing and about to walk out, and her two friends also stood up, Tong Jian and Zhang Jing finally snapped back to reality. In Zhang Jing’s eyes, panic and urgency flashed, and she subconsciously dashed forward and blocked Huo Sining.

”Wait! You can’t take the child!”

Zhang Jing called out urgently.

At this point, Tong Jian also panicked. Others might be unaware, but he and Zhang Jing knew very well that the child wasn’t Tongtong, but rather a child they borrowed from his sister-in-law Zhang Ying. If they let this woman named Huo take the child away, Zhang Ying would definitely confront them when she found out the child was missing, and they wouldn’t be able to explain themselves.

Thinking so, Tong Jian was overwhelmed and, in his anxiety, rushed forward and blocked Huo Sining and her group at the door.

Huo Sining looked at Zhang Jing and Tong Jian with an expression of half-amusement: ”Why? Mr. Tong, since this child is Tongtong, I assume you don’t have the right to stop me?”

Tong Jian knew he was at fault, but at this point, he definitely didn’t want to admit that the child in front of them was his sister-in-law’s daughter, forcing himself to say:

”Miss Huo, the child is indeed Tongtong, but isn’t it inappropriate for you to just take the child away like this? How do we know if you’re really sent by Miss Elisa or just using this as an excuse to take advantage of the child?”

”Yeah, who knows if you’re human traffickers. You say you’re friends of Elisa, but who can prove that?”

Zhang Jing chimed in, thinking that since the child was already missing, if things got exposed now, the couple would be in big trouble. So, hearing Tong Jian’s excuse, she was enlightened and arrogantly raised her chin, looking as if she was about to shamelessly deny things.

Huo Sining had anticipated this couple would make such a scene, so she was prepared beforehand. When she heard Tong Jian’s questioning, she wasn’t flustered and swiftly took out a document from her bag, smiling:

”I indeed can’t prove it, but Miss Elisa can. Before coming, Miss Elisa fully authorized me to handle the child’s affairs, so she gave me an authorization letter. This letter has Miss Elisa’s handwritten signature, indicating that from now on, I will be responsible for Tongtong’s affairs. If you don’t believe it, you can verify this authorization’s authenticity or contact Miss Elisa to see what she says!”

Huo Sining held an authorization letter clearly stating that her daughter Tongtong was entrusted to her friend Huo Sining to be raised, with guardianship and custody granted to Huo Sining, along with Elisa’s signature at the bottom of the document.

Additionally, at the back of this document, there’s an adoption agreement, indicating Huo Sining’s reasonable legality.

Seeing this document, Tong Jian and Zhang Jing exchanged glances, doubting its authenticity, but they didn’t dare to verify it with Elisa, and they hadn’t contacted Elisa actively over the years, having long forgotten her contact details.

”Who knows if your document is forged!”

At this point, the couple could only pretend not to understand and deliberately stay firm.

However, Huo Sining had no intention to muddle further with the couple, directly saying: ”I said, if it’s real or not, you can just go verify it, even if you contact Elisa herself. In fact, if you don’t know Elisa’s contact information, I can provide it to you.”

The last sentence was spoken with some insinuation, especially with Huo Sining’s mockingly upward curve of her lips, making Tong Jian and Zhang Jing rather uncomfortable.

They knew what message was hidden in Huo Sining’s words. Over the years, although Tongtong was left to them, they indeed never actively contacted Elisa nor reported any of Tongtong’s growth updates to her.

Tong Jian and Zhang Jing exchanged a glance, realizing something was amiss, especially upon recalling the sudden million from Elisa, making their hearts skip a beat, vaguely guessing something.

Could it be that Elisa had already suspected them of mistreating the brat Tongtong and thus planned to change someone to raise her, so she gave the million as a payoff, a hush money?

Thinking this, Tong Jian and Zhang Jiang became more certain of their guess. It seemed they misunderstood. This wasn’t a reward from Elisa, but rather compensation for replacing them!

However, as Elisa looked wealthy, and they hadn’t gotten enough money from her, how could Zhang Jing and Tong Jian be content?

Rage flickered in their eyes. Tong Jian was especially dissatisfied, raising his head and glaring at Huo Sining angrily, saying:

”Lawyer Huo, isn’t what you’re doing inappropriate? Tongtong grew up under our care and calls us mom and dad. Now when she’s finally sensible, you come over to take the credit, isn’t that a bit too much?”
