Reborn As Super Heiress

This situation is very concerning, as the walls of the cave are like dominoes. If one of the wooden beams maintaining the entire passageway’s balance is disturbed, the entire tunnel could collapse in an instant.

Just as this thought flashed through Huo Sining’s mind, several workers and a construction expert hurriedly backed out, their expressions filled with panic:

”Professor Xie, the tunnel cannot be disturbed any further. A new large crack has appeared over there, and continuing might cause the whole cave to collapse.”

Professor Xie’s face suddenly became solemn upon hearing this, and he silently looked at the half-finished cave.

No one wanted this situation to happen, but now caught between a rock and a hard place, any decision Professor Xie made felt wrong and brought him anguish.

Seeing Professor Xie’s graying temples and struggling look, unable to make a decision, Huo Sining sighed inwardly and decided to take a risk.

”Officer Yang, could you please get me some paper and a pen?”

Huo Sining instructed Yang Xiaohan and, upon finishing, ventured alone into the tunnel, cautiously probing the inner walls with her right hand.

Ji Kun, noticing this, hurriedly followed behind Huo Sining. Seeing her curiously feeling around the walls, sometimes frowning and pursing her lips, then pondering deeply before moving to another spot, he looked puzzled.

”Junior Sister Huo, what are you doing?” Ji Kun was puzzled and wondered what Huo Sining was up to.

While surveying, Huo Sining looked up and smiled at Ji Kun, saying, ”Have you read Uncle San from the Southern School’s ’Tomb Raiders Notes’?”

Ji Kun raised an eyebrow, ”Zhang Qiling?”

Huo Sining nodded with a smile, ”Then you should know about the Southern and Northern factions, right? The tomb raiders of the Southern Gate can determine the tomb’s direction and dynasty just by smelling the soil and feeling the rock’s moisture.”

”So?” Ji Kun asked, still confused.

Huo Sining glanced at Ji Kun with a teasing smile, replying, ”Quite unfortunately, I am from the Southern Gate. As you can see, I’m surveying the entire tomb’s layout and structure to locate the tomb’s ante-chamber and main chamber.”

Ji Kun: ”Uh, Junior Sister Huo, are you joking? Since when did you become someone from the Southern Gate?”

Huo Sining shrugged with a smile, ”You don’t believe me? When I was a child in Bashu, I apprenticed with a beggar as my master, and he was from the Southern Gate. All those unconventional skills of mine were taught by him.”

While speaking, Huo Sining’s hands kept working without pause.

Ji Kun had heard Zhou Shitao mention Huo Sining had once apprenticed with a master, but he didn’t know the details.

Seeing Huo Sining kneeling on the ground, carefully feeling around with her hands, and surveying some places multiple times, looking extremely serious, it was clear she wasn’t joking.

Seeing this, Ji Kun’s eyes showed a hint of surprise, and he began to doubt, thinking maybe his junior sister was telling the truth and really was a descendant of the Southern Gate?

Unaware of Ji Kun’s thoughts, Huo Sining was merely joking and didn’t expect Ji Kun to take her absurd tale seriously.

Her full attention was now on the ancient tomb.

Huo Sining had never entered a tomb before, so she dared not be careless, cautiously surveying the tunnel’s inner walls several times. After confirming there were no errors, she ventured out, searching around the mountainside. She identified several potential excavation spots, instructing the construction team to dig. Each spot either led to a water vein or a rock layer. After digging around, they finally found the only safe place to break ground.

Back at the foot of the mountain, Yang Xiaohan was waiting. Huo Sining took the pen she offered and rapidly sketched on an A4 sheet of paper.

Although she had not studied drawing, the Water-Repelling Pearl had enhanced her memory over the years, allowing her to vividly recall a complete structure of the tomb she had just surveyed.

Huo Sining held a pen and swiftly outlined the tomb’s shape with a few strokes, quickly presenting the entire contour.

As the depiction on the paper took form, not only Ji Kun, but also Professor Xie and several veteran experts like Shi Qingyun were astonished, while the ancient tomb expert standing alongside Xie Daoyuan was left speechless.

Having studied ancient tombs for decades, the experts immediately understood what Huo Sining was doing by merely looking at her drawing.

She was outlining the form of the tomb, annotating it with scale parameters!

Upon seeing the complete Underground Palace diagram, almost no one doubted that if they dug according to Huo Sining’s drawing, the Dragon’s Acupoint of the tomb would be right where she indicated.

After finishing the final stroke, Huo Sining examined the diagram carefully and, after triple-checking for accuracy, nodded with satisfaction.

Placing the schematic on the ground, she didn’t bother explaining to others, immediately starting to brief the construction expert:

”Sir, please take a team with me to dig from here. Don’t worry, I’ve examined it; this area is free of rocks, mainly loose soil, requiring a dig of just seven to eight meters in depth to reach the chamber. We don’t need to make a large hole, just big enough for a person to enter.”

”Professor Xie...”

Following Huo Sining’s instructions and seeing the diagram, the construction expert’s breath quickened.

He was well aware that Huo Sining’s drawing was likely genuine, but whether to proceed required Professor Xie’s judgment, given the high risk involved.

Moreover, he had doubts about how a young girl like Huo Sining knew the layout of this Underground Palace. Even if the plan was accurate, was her assessment correct? Could they dig without causing a collapse?

Professor Xie’s expression was serious as he looked at Huo Sining and asked solemnly, ”Huo, how confident are you?”

Huo Sining looked at Xie Daoyuan steadily, with no hint of evasion, ”Professor Xie, I never do anything without confidence.”

She had conducted a complete survey of the tomb, ensuring no mistakes by selecting a tomb chamber supported by large stone columns for excavation.

Digging directly from this chamber’s center was feasible since the chamber was supported by four stone pillars, eliminating collapse concerns. It was much easier to deal with these loose soils than bore through rock layers.

Furthermore, digging through this hole allowed direct access to the ante-chamber to rescue people without crossing the flip panels preceding the main chamber, minimizing the risk of triggering mechanisms.
