Reborn As Super Heiress

Regarding Zeng Fugui’s cautious behavior, Huo Sining found it amusing.

She could play like this because she had something to rely on; otherwise, why would she do something so self-defeating in front of so many people? However, since these people didn’t believe her, she didn’t plan to hide it anymore. Since she had to be high-profile, she might as well play big. It would be best if this appraisal had a shocking effect, preventing these so-called old experts from resting on their laurels and discouraging any unnecessary thoughts from the likes of the Deputy Director.

Thinking this, Huo Sining didn’t hesitate with her actions. When the first antique was handed to her, she simply rubbed the surface lightly and uttered two words, ”It’s fake.”

The people present hadn’t even reacted yet when the old man holding the porcelain bowl couldn’t help but exclaim, ”Are you sure?”

Huo Sining smiled and said, ”This bowl has an open mouth, a rounded belly, and a circular foot. The shape is regular and solid. Although you can’t see the interior patterns and painting techniques, judging from the shape, it should be an imitation of Qing Dynasty enamel. But the enamel glaze feels sticky, the porcelain body is thin and inconsistent, and the firing is somewhat irregular. It’s a modern piece, and its manufacturing date wouldn’t exceed twenty years.”

As soon as she said this, the old expert’s expression froze.

The other old experts had sourced their items from the museum, but the bowl he presented was one he brought himself. He had picked up this blue-and-white porcelain bowl from Antique Street, thinking he had found a treasure due to its delicate craftsmanship. Both the glaze and the feel were excellent, so he eagerly bought it, only to discover months later that it was fake.

He brought this bowl to the museum hoping to share and discuss it with his old pals. He never imagined that it would come in handy here, and even less did he expect that this young Miss Huo could identify it. Not only did she identify the shape and flaws of the enamel but also pinpointed its age. How incredible is that!

Everyone looked towards the old expert. He was visibly shocked, clutching his chest and taking a few deep breaths before nodding at those around him.

Seeing the situation, several other old experts were equally stunned. They swarmed over, taking a closer look at the blue-and-white porcelain bowl that Huo Sining had just appraised. After examining the bowl, all of their eyes were filled with amazement and disbelief, and the way they looked at Huo Sining changed.

Director Li was quite pleased. He initially feared Huo Sining’s blind appraisal might lead to mistakes, but to his surprise, she actually managed it. It seemed this young girl had indeed reserved some skills during her time at the Public Security Bureau, sparing Little Tang some face.

Director Li already imagined how Little Tang would react after he shared today’s story of Huo Sining’s blind appraisal. That kid always thought highly of his own counterfeiting skills, holding an air of superiority, but he encountered someone better. He would finally understand what it meant by ”there’s always a taller mountain.” His superficial skills are utterly exposed before a true expert.

While Director Li beamed at Huo Sining, on the other side, Zeng Fugui was glaring at her, seemingly about to pop his eyeballs out.

Zeng Fugui also examined the Qing imitation enamel. Although Huo Sining didn’t appraise the glaze and patina of the bowl, her other comments were spot-on, even more accurate than radiocarbon dating at a testing institute. How could that be possible?

Zeng Fugui instinctively glanced at the expert, then suspiciously at Director Li and Huo Sining, wondering if the three of them were in cahoots. Could the expert have deliberately pulled punches, giving Huo Sining hints? Otherwise, how could she guess so accurately, even noting the details?

Zeng Fugui was convinced that someone as young as Huo Sining couldn’t possibly possess such skills. Seeing the experts marvel while Director Li looked smug annoyed him, and he couldn’t help but grind his teeth and sneer, ”It’s just one antique. Maybe she got lucky. It doesn’t prove anything, does it?”

When the experts heard this, they calmed down and realized Zeng Fugui had a point. Guessing the authenticity and details of antique items blindfolded is highly improbable. But then, maybe it was just a coincidence?

But was it truly a coincidental hit?

”Indeed, this is a Ming Dynasty ancient jade with a carving technique using ancient nail patterns. The incised lines are wide and deep with a rough finish, and the base is unevenly treated. The animal design has recessed dril marks inside the ears. This Shouxing Gong is well-polished, perfectly preserved, and a rare gem.”

”This one is fake. Truthfully, it can’t even be called an antique. This Liuli horse is simply a glass artifact to fool outsiders. Essentially, it’s Liuli, no different from glass. Over at Liulichang, it’s buy one get one free for fifty yuan.”

”This thing is indeed real, but it’s somewhat unfortunate. It stands on three legs, but one leg of the tripod is crippled and has been restored later. Although not very noticeable, the price is significantly diminished. However, for something from the Han Dynasty to be preserved like this is quite commendable!”

”Fake...”

”This one is real...”

”...”

One item after another, the more they appraised, the more astonished the old experts became. Guessing right once might be luck, but twice it’s a fluke, and three times is impossible.

”That’s incredible!” Some museum staff who had heard the news rushed to see the spectacle. Witnessing Huo Sining’s blind appraisal process left them dumbfounded, and they couldn’t help but give her a thumbs up.

They had only seen treasure appraisal experts using their eyes to distinguish authenticity, and some even needed instruments. Magnifying glasses, reading glasses, and flashlights were essential tools. But this Miss Huo, sent from above, judged items with her hands blindfolded without any instruments.

Compared to Director Li, who had a lighthearted expression, Zeng Fugui’s face grew increasingly grim. Initially, he suspected that the expert colluded with Director Li and Huo Sining. But seeing this, he realized he might have underestimated the young girl. He hadn’t thought that in real life, someone could rely solely on touch for appraisal and hit the mark every time.

Seeing the experts handing items to Huo Sining, and this young girl merely touching them without hesitation and directly stating her appraisal results, not just the experts, even Zeng Fugui felt a tinge of jealousy and envy.
