Reborn As Super Heiress

The wait lasted for more than four hours, and as noon approached, several police cars came wailing. The crowd of onlookers hadn’t dispersed yet, but upon hearing the sirens, they quickly made way.

Huo Sining was sleeping deeply in the driver’s seat. Hearing the sirens, she quickly sat up in her seat.

Before she could get out of the car, she saw a few people running down from the police cars. Seeing them, Huo Sining couldn’t help but laugh — all familiar faces had arrived.

Shi Qingyun, Zhuang Xiangyang, her brother Ji Kun, and Su Qingqing’s master Xie Daoyuan, among others. From another car, several professors came along with their students, including Ding Liang, Li Xuanbing, and Song Leyin. All the people from the previous Taicheng Ancient Tomb incident were present, except for Ma Liwen and his apprentice Feng Yang.

Seeing these people, Huo Sining felt happy and quickly ran out of the car to join Ji Kun and the others.

Apparently, Ji Kun had already informed them about the situation while they were in the car, which is why no one was surprised to see Huo Sining running over. Xie Daoyuan immediately asked Huo Sining: ”Huo girl, what’s the situation inside?”

Huo Sining felt a bit embarrassed: ”I’m not exactly sure about the details. I haven’t gone in to see it myself. I’m not very skilled in excavating ancient tombs, and I don’t dare to act recklessly, so I waited in the car for you guys.”

Xie Daoyuan and the others had rushed over upon receiving the call, and once they arrived in Xianyang, they were escorted to the scene by the police. Hearing Huo Sining’s explanation, they nodded and did not press further.

”In that case, let’s go to the site and see what’s happening first.” Xie Daoyuan said to the experts.

Though they had come all the way from the Imperial Capital and S City, the urgency of the matter left no time for rest. Upon hearing Xie Daoyuan’s suggestion, the group of senior experts nodded in agreement. They dropped their luggage and tools and headed toward the scene at the cliff.

Upon reaching the foot of the mountain, they saw several police cars with flashing lights, surrounded by a large crowd discussing outside the barrier. Dozens of police officers were maintaining order, alongside three excavators waiting for arrangements.

”What’s going on with these three excavators?”

Seeing the excavators, Xie Daoyuan’s face changed suddenly, scolding, ”This isn’t a demolition site. What do we need excavators for?”

Captain Zhao, responsible for reception, was immediately embarrassed. He was dealing with experts from the Imperial Capital, not ordinary local officials. Though they were from the educational system, their status was significant. A slight misstep could ruin his promising future.

Captain Zhao had to brace himself and carefully respond, The inquiry led him to find out that the situation was not simple — someone had been buried alive in the ancient tomb!

Apparently, an hour ago, the Xianyang police received a strange call from a tomb robber trapped inside the underground chamber. Unable to find a way out, he finally resorted to calling 110 for help, hoping the police could rescue him from the ancient tomb.

Upon learning someone was buried alive in the chamber, the police were baffled. Although they were tomb robbers, they still needed to be rescued. Thus, they promptly called for excavators.

However, the situation was tricky, as it involved an ancient tomb. Even though they weren’t sure if any artifacts remained after the tomb was visited by robbers, no one dared to recklessly cause any damage.

Listening to the police’s explanation, the group of senior experts and students were all taken aback, showing expressions of disbelief.

No one expected a tomb robber would call the police this way. This robber was truly foolish, and if the news spread, his career would be over. Getting himself buried in an ancient tomb, it’s laughably absurd.

The professors, aware someone was buried inside, were also at a loss.

From a personal viewpoint, these tomb robbers deserved it, getting buried underground. But logically, they couldn’t ignore the safety of these individuals while solely focusing on preserving the tomb’s integrity.

With a frown, Xie Daoyuan approached the shaft dug by the tomb robbers. The dimly lit passage extended inward, and he took out a flashlight to venture inside.

This passage had half-collapsed and was highly unstable. Previously, some police officers had attempted to investigate, but before they entered, soil began to fall from the passage ceiling, scaring them off.

Ji Kun worried about Xie Daoyuan rushing in and potentially encountering danger, so he quickly pulled him back: ”Professor Xie, let me go.”

Professor Xie appreciated Ji Kun’s intention but stubbornly refused to yield.

He needed to inspect the extent of the passage’s damage and ascertain the tomb’s layout. Only then could he find a feasible solution — perhaps digging a new entrance elsewhere to rescue the trapped individuals while preserving the tomb’s integrity.

Professor Xie’s determination embarrassed the accompanying staff from the Xianyang Cultural Relics Bureau. Unlike Professor Xie, they lacked the dedication to move forward when faced with the unstable passage.

Ji Kun, unable to persuade Professor Xie, reluctantly suggested an impractical solution: ”How about this, Professor Xie? I’ll go in first, and you follow me.”

Professor Xie neither agreed nor disagreed with Ji Kun’s proposal.

Seeing no objection from Professor Xie, Ji Kun led the way, followed closely by Professor Xie, who crouched and squeezed into the passage.

Everyone’s heart was in their throat, fearing the shaft’s sudden collapse.

Huo Sining watched as Professor Xie entered the passage. Without speaking, she quickly pressed her right hand against the tunnel wall.

Huo Sining’s Heavenly Eye skill had significantly improved. With her hand stretched out, she could easily see dozens of meters ahead.

The tomb tunnel was long, and Huo Sining couldn’t see the end. This showed the Yunling Ancient Tomb was comparable to the grand tombs of monarchs, with tunnel walls built of bluestone bricks and wooden beams, the whole shaft twisted yet unusually smooth. Clearly, the tomb robbers were skilled in their excavation, leaving the tunnel’s outer structure intact.
