Reborn As Super Heiress

The car drove all the way into downtown, stopping in front of the City Public Security Bureau. After a group of four entered an office, Huo Sining was arranged to sit on the sofa.

”Miss Huo, please sit here for a moment, we’ll bring over the items to be authenticated.”

After saying this to Huo Sining, Director Li exchanged a glance with Captain Feng and Deputy Captain He, and the three of them walked out.

After about ten minutes, the office door was pushed open from outside. Director Li came in with Feng Qing and He Ming, who had left earlier. Along with them was a bald, fat middle-aged man with a beer belly and another gentle-looking middle-aged man wearing glasses.

Feng Qing and He Ming each held a box in their hands and walked straight towards Huo Sining, smiling, ”Miss Huo, these are the items left from the H Province Museum. Please help us authenticate them and determine whether they are genuine.”

As they spoke, the two men placed the boxes on the table, opened them, and took out the contents.

These were two porcelain items. One of them was a Jiaqing Carved Porcelain Vase, and the other was a mid-Qing Dynasty blue and white jar. Seeing these items, Huo Sining didn’t suspect anything and directly picked them up.

However, after just a few glances, Huo Sining couldn’t help but raise her eyebrows.

At first glance, she thought they looked like genuine pieces because the feel and appearance of the porcelain in hand were indistinguishable from the real one. But under her Heavenly Eye, they were fakes—there was not a bit of purple aura on these porcelains, marking them as complete counterfeits.

Feeling deeply astonished, Huo Sining had assumed that only Zhong Fang had such counterfeit skills. She hadn’t expected there to be others with this talent outside of Zhong Fang. Although these two pieces were slightly inferior to Zhong Fang’s, they were still convincing enough to pass as authentic.

Yet, given that the items are fake, they can’t be genuine. After a careful inspection, Huo Sining put them down and softly said,

”These two porcelain pieces are ingeniously crafted, but they are both fakes.”

Upon hearing this, Director Li glanced at Huo Sining in surprise, nodding unconsciously, and the originally furrowed brows quietly relaxed.

The gentle-looking man with glasses did not seem convinced, ”Several experts couldn’t decide, and you say they’re fake. How did you determine that?”

Huo Sining smiled and said, ”Different fields require specialized skills. Not every expert understands porcelain. Those familiar with antiques know that holding true antique pieces imparts a distinct sensation, indescribable and unexplainable, understood by those who know, needing no further words.”

Director Li agreed with Huo Sining’s words, recognizing that antique authentication relies on intuition, which indeed is more subjective than objective.

However, the intellectual-looking man with glasses was clearly unsatisfied with Huo Sining’s explanation, ”If, as you say, most people couldn’t tell the porcelain pieces apart, how can we know if your assessment is right or wrong?”

Huo Sining didn’t know who this intellectual glasses man was, but given his question, she felt compelled to explain:

”The difference between a forgery and an authentic piece lies only in the passage of time. Ordinary crafts lack the gravity of history. Although the craftsmanship of these two porcelain items is indeed skillful, senior experts who don’t specialize in ceramics might not distinguish them. If you ask why, I can’t give a reason to convince you, for antique authentication is inherently an elusive art, relying entirely on experience and intuition.”

”Ha, intuition? I think you’re just making things up because these porcelain pieces are in the police station, stubbornly claiming they’re fakes. What intuition? It’s just nonsense!”

The intellectual glasses man sneered, showing great disdain while looking at Huo Sining, evidently dissatisfied with her so-called intuition argument.

Director Li, seeing the arrogance in the glasses man’s demeanor, hurriedly interjected, ”Little Tang...”

Recognizing the obvious provocation, Huo Sining chuckled, her gaze carrying a hint of coldness, ”Believe it or not, this is what I say: these two porcelain pieces are fake. They may look genuine, but a fake can never be true. I can tell you directly, whoever made these is quite skilled—the clay for firing this porcelain is aged, but this bowl is newly fired, not older than a month, because there’s still a faint smell of smoke on it!”

Upon hearing Huo Sining mention the ”smell of smoke,” the glasses man’s expression immediately changed. Director Li and the others, including Feng Qing, were no longer smiling, each looking at Huo Sining with surprised faces, seemingly taken aback by her statement.

After a few seconds of silence, the glasses man suddenly smiled and said, ”Miss Huo’s intuition is indeed impressive. In that case, I want to see for myself how capable Miss Huo truly is!”

After saying this, the glasses man turned and left with Feng Qing and He Ming, coming back with large boxes each, which were filled with antique items.

Huo Sining was instantly taken aback by the display, thinking if this weren’t in a police station, she might have mistaken the glasses man for an antique dealer.

”Director Li...” Huo Sining cast an involuntary glance at the glasses man, instinctively looking over at Director Li.

The glasses man straightforwardly explained, ”I might as well confess, Miss Huo: I am the creator of those two porcelain pieces. Many experts have failed with them.”

”Regarding your notion of intuition, I don’t believe it one bit. I won’t beat around the bush. In these three boxes, some items are my creations, some I acquired—they are a mix of real and fake. If today you identify them correctly, I’ll respect you, but if you get it wrong, your claim of intuition is just plucked out of thin air. In that case, there’s no need for you to be involved with the museum anymore; we’ll part ways cleanly!”

The glasses man spoke with a rather harsh tone, evidently possessing substantial skill in creating antique forgeries, often confounding senior experts. His entire demeanor exuded arrogance, and he addressed Huo Sining very haughtily.

Huo Sining remained silent, not even glancing at the glasses man, instead reaching out decisively to the boxes in front of her.
