Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1046: Chapter 1042 Behind-the-Scenes Trickery

The museum curator has been staying in the hospital, unable to leave, and the fire of public anger finds no outlet. So, after a week of being suppressed, it collectively erupted.

A group of emotionally out-of-control citizens even made an outrageous demand, hoping the Police Department chief would resign. The innocent chief was unjustly criticized and had to become a scapegoat, taking the blame pushed onto him by the National Museum curator, Uehara Keijiro.

The furious Dongyang people didn’t know that the antiques they cared about had already been quietly taken back to Huaxia Country three days ago, and are now resting safely in the storage of the Huaxia Imperial Palace.

The public opinion in Dongyang was buzzing, directly pointing fingers at the Tokyo Police Department for inaction, while the foreign media mocked them in various ways. Meanwhile, Huaxia Country added fuel to the fire, pouring oil on the boiling pot.

Just as Huo Sining was flying to Dongyang, the Huaxia Ministry of Foreign Affairs suddenly issued a statement, strongly condemning the theft at the Dongyang National Museum, stating that the stolen antiques were irreplaceable parts of Huaxia civilization, and losing any one of them was a great loss to Huaxia.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also recounted that when he took office a few years ago, he had proposed suggestions and requests to the National Museum regarding the repatriation of Huaxia artifacts. However, the National Museum claimed that these artifacts had to be stored in Dongyang to ensure their safety and integrity.

Now, with the National Museum experiencing a theft, and all lost items being Huaxia antiques, he couldn’t help but suspect whether all this was intentional by the Dongyang National Museum.

At the end of the statement, the minister expressed his view that if this wasn’t premeditated by the National Museum, then it proves the museum was genuinely robbed, raising questions about the safety of the remaining Huaxia artifacts stored at the Dongyang National Museum.

Regarding this matter, the minister strongly demanded that since Dongyang can’t protect Huaxia civilization, those Huaxia artifacts should be returned to Huaxia Country for safekeeping!

This statement, once issued, immediately gained support and praise from many Chinese people at home and abroad. On the streets of Dongyang, some exchange students and overseas Chinese spontaneously organized protests, holding various large banners, vociferously demanding that the National Museum return the Huaxia artifacts to Huaxia Country, escalating the incident further.

After getting off the plane, Huo Sining couldn’t help but twitch the corners of her mouth as she saw these continuous reports.

There’s no need to guess that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued such a statement under the instruction of Chief Lu.

The more than four thousand artifacts had already returned safely to the country, and everything had been authenticated by those old experts; they were all genuine. Now that the concerns of those old gentlemen had been relieved, Chief Lu had no more worries and could confidently make an issue out of the National Museum theft.

Receiving an advantage and then attacking unreasonably, Huo Sining felt somewhat speechless. She could imagine the cunning and gloating expressions on the faces of Chief Lu and the other old men when they released this statement.

Huo Sining couldn’t help but find it amusing. Unexpectedly, Chief Lu, who seemed so upright, would play such tricks behind the scenes, teasing the Dongyang ghosts with no limits. Truly, it’s utterly shameless.

She couldn’t help but shake her head. With this statement, the Dongyang Ministry of Foreign Affairs would probably be dumbfounded. This matter originally had nothing to do with them, but with the Huaxia Ministry of Foreign Affairs directly targeting Dongyang, they were forced to get involved.

Given the Huaxia people’s eloquence, it would be a wonder to make clear sense of this issue. However, the Dongyang Ministry of Foreign Affairs couldn’t shrink back, with people coming at their door; they’d have to face it head-on. For the foreseeable future, this Ministry would surely have a headache dealing with it.

Of course, at this level, it’s not something a student like Huo Sining could manage. She was busy rushing back to Dongyang for another reason entirely, concerning the student exchange evaluation.

The so-called exchange student evaluation is actually equivalent to the end-of-term examination in Huaxia Country.

This is a tradition of the exchange program between S University and Waseda University, where exchange students participate in exchange studies at Waseda University for a semester, and at the end of the semester, they have to undergo a final assessment. The assessment results will be directly included in the S University student records, determining whether they can graduate smoothly after four years of university, so every exchange student takes it very seriously.

This is why Huo Sining hurriedly rushed back to Dongyang, with the national holiday coming up, leaving only a little more than ten days in the semester. The exchange students’ final assessment was about to be scheduled, and although Huo Sining didn’t take this exchange study program seriously, since she participated, she had to go all out, properly prepare for the exam, and submit an excellent answer sheet.

But sometimes, even if you don’t seek trouble, it won’t stop it from finding you. As the saying goes, a tree wants to stand still, but the wind won’t stop.

Just as Huo Sining was busy preparing for her exams, she suddenly received a call from Zhou Zeping. His voice was low, serious, carrying a trace of anger, and seemed somewhat exhausted: ”Huo Sining, there’s something I must tell you in advance.”

Not knowing what had happened, Huo Sining initially thought there was an issue with the Huaxia Koi samples, and quickly said: ”Teacher, please go ahead.”

Zhou Zeping slowly began: ”I just found out about something. During your time studying as an exchange student in Dongyang, have you not attended many of the class’s public extracurricular activities?”

This left Huo Sining bewildered, faintly sensing something amiss: ”Yes, because when I first joined the class, the teacher told me as long as my regular course completion was high, it was sufficient. Public extracurricular activities were just a formality, nothing to take seriously, so I didn’t participate and used that time for my own affairs. Teacher, did something happen?”

Zhou Zeping snorted coldly: ”Well, things have now become a bit complex. Due to the previous Huaxia Koi exchange event, some people, instead of properly instructing and mentoring, have taken advantage of their position to vent personal grievances. Such individuals lack integrity. It’s baffling how they have the audacity to stand as a role model, and Waseda University even supports such people, which is utterly incomprehensible.”

A flash of insight struck Huo Sining, understanding the implication of Zhou Zeping’s words: ”Is it that Nagayama Kaiyuki has been making underhanded moves, messing things up deliberately?”

At Waseda University, Huo Sining had always kept a low profile; the only time she stepped forward was regarding the Huaxia Koi exchange event. After the media exposure, it did bring some negative impact to Waseda University, yet the root cause wasn’t her fault, but in the hands of Nagayama Kaiyuki, who deliberately caused trouble. She was just defending the dignity of the Huaxia Research Institute, so she shouldn’t be blamed for this.
