Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1028: Chapter 1024: There is One More Thing to Confess

In the field of art collection, antique porcelain auctions have always been relatively popular. For example, the Chicken Cup, which was once auctioned for the astronomical price of 280 million Hong Kong dollars, is a topic of continuous discussion.

Among these porcelain pieces, the Glaze-altered Temmoku Tea Bowl should be considered an exception. It is a category whose value cannot be directly measured by money.

In fact, the successful firing of the Glaze-altered Temmoku Tea Bowl involves great serendipity. The bright spots on its bowl wall were formed in one high-temperature firing beneath the glaze. Under certain temperature conditions, they can shine with an alluring seven-colored halo. To make the bowl’s surface present a gorgeous effect, akin to a rainbow on the horizon, with interwoven yellows, blues, greens, and purples, a very thin crystalline film must be formed on the glaze during firing.

Unfortunately, this porcelain-making technique was lost after the fall of the Southern Song Dynasty, making the bowl’s production a historical technical enigma up to the present day.

Nevertheless, this lavishly adorned tea bowl is indeed a product of Huaxia Country from eight hundred years ago, and the splendid presentation of this glaze-altered porcelain technique is enough to prove the wisdom and superb craftsmanship of Huaxia’s artisans.

The Glaze-altered Temmoku porcelain technique is highly difficult, and its success is serendipitous. The number of finished products is extremely low, and combined with later wars, the surviving quantity is understandably scarce.

At least within the country, Huo Sining had never heard of such porcelain, which is why when she brought out this bowl, the reason why the experienced elders present, including Zhou Shitao Huang Zhenlong, were so astonished the moment they saw this porcelain bowl.

This Glaze-altered Temmoku Tea Bowl is praised as the ”Universe in a Bowl” in Dongyang and is also a unique surviving piece. After several transits, it was included in the Dongdu Jingjia Hall Library. If it weren’t for the fact that the Dongdu National Museum was hosting an exhibition with the theme of ”Promoting Yamato Culture,” perhaps Huo Sining would not have had the opportunity to act.

After their initial shock, Zhou Shitao and the others finally adjusted their emotions and took this bowl to examine and study it carefully. Zhou Shitao, who had seen many things, was more and more amazed and regretful as he observed the porcelain bowl: ”The title of Universe in a Bowl is truly well-deserved. The wisdom of the ancients in porcelain making is something even we modern people can hardly match.”

Huo Sining quite agreed with this statement. The manufacturing technique of the Glaze-altered Temmoku Tea Bowl has always been a key research direction in the ceramics field, but after decades of research involving many porcelain-making experts, there has been little progress. Attempting to restore such firing techniques is probably impossible to achieve in the short term, and even if it’s truly replicated, there would likely still be some differences compared to the Southern Song period using the firing levels achievable today.

Of course, this is not something Huo Sining should be concerned about.

This time causing such a tumult in Dongdu, although the result was good, the process was truly perilous, and experiencing it again, she might just be scared by the thought alone.

After viewing the items, this time, Huang Zhenlong did not mention wanting to take the bowl to the Forbidden City, because he knew that the origin of this bowl was questionable, and bringing it there would be like holding a hot potato, unable to be openly exhibited.

However, regarding Huo Sining’s ability to bring back such a precious item, Huang Zhenlong still admired and was curious about her. He wanted to know where this girl got the courage and ability to avoid both the Dongdu Special Police and the electronic eyes, silently bringing out so many things in such circumstances.

”If you hadn’t brought out this bowl, I wouldn’t have believed you had such skill, girl. How did you manage to do it?” Huang Zhenlong asked curiously.

Huo Sining pursed her lips, looked up, exchanged a smile with Gu Xu, and said, ”I certainly couldn’t do it alone; I found help.”

Seeing the interaction between the two, Zhou Shitao understood: ”Gu Xu was involved too?”

Gu Xu didn’t hide it and nodded directly: ”I didn’t participate directly, but I helped find a computer expert to pave the way and clean up afterward. The National Museum’s security system was hacked by our person.”

Zhou Shitao couldn’t help shaking his head, giving Gu Xu a stern look: ”This girl is naive, and you’re much older than her. Didn’t you know the weight of your actions? She’s reckless, and you didn’t persuade her; instead, you joined in the mischief. What if something happened? Could you two handle it? You’re too daring!”

Although the words were harsh, the pride in Zhou Shitao’s eyes was unmistakable; it was clear he was very satisfied with Huo Sining’s action this time. People value results; as long as the final result is good, the process doesn’t matter.

If they didn’t resort to tactics, these significant artifacts would only remain adrift in Dongyang with no chance of returning. Now that Huo Sining has brought them back, even if these items can’t be displayed openly to the public for decades, it’s far better than having them clutched in Dongyang’s hands.

Like Zhou Shitao, the three elders, including Huang Zhenlong, had experienced many things. None condemned Huo Sining’s actions but rather admired them highly. Despite the many confusions and doubts in their hearts, no question outweighed the significance of truly bringing things back to the country.

”And this is just one of them. I’ve seen the news; the National Museum lost over forty exhibition treasures this time. So where are the remaining items? Did you store them somewhere? Will there be trouble? Can they be brought back to the country soon?”

Huang Zhenlong was impatient. After seeing this highly tempting Glaze-altered Temmoku Tea Bowl, he was eager to see and touch the remaining dozens of national treasure artifacts.

Huo Sining explained with a smile: ”The items are with one of my senior brothers, who can ensure their safety; you can rest assured. Dongyang has been on alert and conducting thorough investigations since the day of the museum theft, but nothing useful has been found. Now almost a week has passed, so the chances of tracking them down are decreasing, so there’s basically no trouble.”

This answer finally put Zhou Shitao’s mind at ease, but Huang Zhenlong was somewhat dissatisfied. What he most wanted to know was when these items could be brought back to the country, but Huo Sining avoided discussing this question, leaving him anxious but unable to keep pressing.

Seeing through Director Huang’s thoughts, Huo Sining awkwardly rubbed her nose, gathered some mental fortitude, pondered over the wording, and then slowly began to speak: ”Master, there’s actually something else I need to confess.”
