Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1003: Chapter 999: Safe Escape

Ever since Huo Sining entered the National Museum, Gu Xu had been on edge, and Yu Fei was closely monitoring the movements inside the museum. However, until it closed, Gu Xu hadn’t received any instructions from Huo Sining, nor had Yu Fei noticed anything unusual on the surveillance footage.

”Boss, who are you looking for? I don’t see anything unusual in this video.”

Yu Fei played the captured video again but couldn’t find any issues among the people entering the venue. Since Gu Xu hadn’t told him exactly who entered the museum, Yu Fei was in the dark, only able to act according to Gu Xu’s instructions.

”Keep a close eye on the surveillance area, and if you notice anything unusual, act accordingly.”

Gu Xu’s heart was unsettled, afraid that his wife might be trapped inside the museum and unable to get out. He was very displeased with the senior brother Huo Sining had mentioned. If you’re doing the job, just do it. Why do you have to involve my wife? You could have asked me to join instead. My wife is just a charming young woman; how can you let her do such things?

It’s not that Gu Xu looked down on his wife; he knew very well that Huo Sining was extraordinarily capable. But the operation was inherently dangerous; thinking of his wife risking herself made him feel heartache and guilt. He felt useless sitting in the car anxiously without being able to do anything.

Yu Fei was unaware of Gu Xu’s thoughts. He kept monitoring the surveillance room’s situation. However, what puzzled him was that despite the museum being full of surveillance networks, nothing abnormal was captured on camera after closing time. It was as if the people Gu Xu mentioned entering the museum were fabricated, which made Yu Fei suspicious, uncertain if the people Gu Xu arranged had entered or not.

The wait continued until after 9 PM, and while sitting in the car, keeping watch, Gu Xu suddenly received a text from Huo Sining: Proceed according to plan. Get Yu Fei to open all the doors along the agreed route. Also, create a distraction to draw the people away.

Upon receiving this message, Gu Xu immediately forwarded it word-for-word to Yu Fei. Upon receiving the command, Yu Fei snapped his fingers, energized: ”No problem, wait!”

Almost half a minute after Huo Sining sent the message out, she heard a sudden alarm sound from outside the door. Huo Sining held her breath, listening carefully to the commotion outside.

As expected, once the alarm went off, the guards immediately became alert, tightly gripping their guns, ready and tense, yet their eyes showed confusion.

”Captain, what’s going on?”

The captain furrowed his brows, staring upstairs intently. Once the alarm sounded, the staff in the museum’s duty room started rushing towards the direction of the noise. The guard captain signaled to two of the guards: ”Go up and check!”

Upon hearing the order, the two guards rushed upstairs. The remaining four stood still, and the guard captain turned around, his gaze falling on the warehouse door behind him, secretly relieved. Unexpectedly, at that moment, the warehouse door suddenly beeped and slowly opened.

The captain paused, puzzled. This door couldn’t be opened from the outside without a password, but he hadn’t entered the password just now. How could it suddenly open? Could someone be inside?!

Considering this possibility, the captain’s face hardened, his gaze focused on the inside. But when the warehouse door was completely open, it was empty without a single person.

The captain found it strange; how could the door open for no apparent reason? Maybe it malfunctioned?

As he rapidly processed his thoughts, the two guards who ran upstairs hurried back. One saluted the captain and reported: ”Report, Captain, nothing happened upstairs. The fire alarm was mistakenly pressed, and the staff upstairs thought there was a fire. But nothing actually happened.”

Upon hearing this, the guard captain paused, his gaze returning to the randomly opened warehouse door. With unease crossing his heart, he thought for a moment and walked into the warehouse. After scanning the room without finding anything unusual, he felt relieved and carefully shut the warehouse door again.

Huo Sining stealthily exited from the back door, and after walking about five hundred meters away from the National Museum, she collapsed on the ground, uncontrollably gasping for air.

Just moments ago, she had held her breath while exiting the warehouse, making no sound. Luckily, the two guards provided cover, allowing her to escape in panic without drawing any attention.

Thinking of her storage ring filled to the brim, Huo Sining felt a surge of pride. No matter what, tonight’s operation was successfully completed.

Sending a text to Gu Xu, indicating that she had safely exited and advising him to wait at the hotel, Huo Sining headed toward another street.

The museum lost so many items. Surely, it would be discovered by tomorrow. By then, the surveillance within a few kilometers of the museum would likely be pulled out. This was why Huo Sining didn’t want Gu Xu to appear; she had the Invisibility Skill, ensuring she wouldn’t be exposed on camera. But Gu Xu was different; attracting police attention could make him a suspect.

Gu Xu’s car was parked kilometers away from the National Museum, underneath a club. Receiving news of Huo Sining’s safety, Gu Xu finally felt relief, quickly informing Yu Fei to wrap things up. He drove the car swiftly out of the underground garage, heading for the hotel.

Not long after arriving at the hotel, Huo Sining came back. Upon seeing her, Gu Xu immediately rushed up and embraced her tightly, his hands frantically checking her body from face to arms to waist, ensuring she was unharmed. Only then did he exhale in relief, eagerly holding her close.

”Honey! You scared me to death. Throughout this whole time, I almost thought you were trapped inside and couldn’t get out. Next time, can you avoid doing such dangerous things? You nearly gave me a heart attack!”

Huo Sining also felt a bit of fear, acknowledging her recklessness this time. If Gu Xu hadn’t arranged Yu Fei to help wrap things up, or hadn’t coincidentally met Watanabe Yasu and Hattori Keiko to guide her out, she might have been trapped. Escaping would have been uncertain.
