Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1011: Chapter 1007: Find a Scapegoat

”How could this happen? Isn’t the National Museum the most rigorous and secure museum? How did thieves manage to get in?”

”So many artifacts, each worth a fortune. These thieves are too brazen; we must catch them!”

”My God, these antiques are the treasures sent from other museums. These thieves were definitely premeditated!”

”Check the surveillance! They stole so much in one night. It must be the collective action of a gang; there’s no way not a single thief was captured on camera, right?”

”Yeah, with so many electronic eyes in Dongdu, these people can’t escape electronic tracking!”

A crowd was clamoring, and Dongdu’s internet was abuzz, but the suggestions from these keyboard warriors were something the Police Department experts had also thought of, which all turned out to be futile efforts.

Netizens questioned and cursed online, believing that Dongdu’s police were inactive. Seeing those curses, the Police Department could only silently endure, unable to make any retorts or defend themselves.

Even if they had no evidence in their hands, and even if the surveillance footage was useless, they couldn’t clarify to the public. Revealing such reasons would mean they couldn’t use police pressure to intimidate the thieves, causing the thieves to panic. Once the thieves knew the police had no evidence, they’d be fearless and more rampant.

Therefore, the task force could only act like turtles hiding in their shells, biting the bullet and saying nothing in such critical times.

Huo Sining was unaware of these task force detectives’ thoughts; otherwise, she would have laughed her head off.

No signs of confusion or intimidation at all; she wasn’t the least bit nervous. Let them investigate; as long as they didn’t catch her at the scene, trying to discover anything further was as hard as climbing to the sky. Even if they found some clues and suspected her, Huo Sining was fearless because they didn’t have any evidence.

Of course, Huo Sining wouldn’t let Dongyang suspect her either. For this, she deliberately left some ”clues” to find herself a scapegoat.

Thinking of this, Huo Sining’s eyes flickered with a mischievous glint, and she silently lit three sticks of incense in her heart for the unfortunate soul taking the fall for her.

Watanabe Yasu and Hattori Keiko both heard about the National Museum theft while working in their respective offices. Upon learning of it, they were quite surprised, especially after watching the National Museum press conference at noon and realizing the stolen items were those treasures sent from other museums they had seen in the warehouse the previous day, it left them stunned.

”Fortunately, we checked with Tanaka Heiichi about those items yesterday afternoon, or we wouldn’t have had any chance at all,” Watanabe Yasu couldn’t help but remark with relief while talking to Hattori Keiko on the phone.

Hattori Keiko wasn’t as optimistic as Watanabe Yasu; she felt vaguely uneasy: ”But since we checked those things, what if the Police Department suspects us?”

Watanabe Yasu was taken aback, then chuckled: ”Are you kidding? We just looked at them, didn’t even touch them. There were special police watching over there. We didn’t take them; even if the Police Department is incapable, they can’t blame us, right? This has nothing to do with us!”

While chatting on the phone, Watanabe Yasu reached out to stroke the Tri-colored Tang Horse on his desk, completely unconcerned about Hattori Keiko’s worries.

Hattori Keiko was restless, seemingly wanting to say more, but opened her mouth without speaking.

After hanging up, Watanabe Yasu couldn’t resist taking out a special silk cloth to carefully clean the Tri-colored Tang Horse. Over this period, as he toyed and played with it, the glaze gradually brightened again. The tri-colored hues became more vivid, so lifelike from the horse’s body to the saddle, making it hard to put down once touched.

Watanabe Yasu’s eyes shone with a greedy light, staring intently at the Tri-colored Tang Horse.

If Huo Sining were present, she wouldn’t be able to help but cry out.

As Watanabe Yasu touched the Tri-colored Tang Horse, a black aura crawled up his hand, directly attacking his forehead, making the area covered in even denser black mist. The mist spun rapidly as if ready to break free from constraint and burst forth from the gathered forehead.

At the National Museum, several task force members began entering the warehouse. The forensic unit and the major crimes unit started dividing the work. The technical squad responsible for on-site investigation, along with members from the dispatch room, sprang into action. Some Police Department members with significant experience in investigating such theft cases were also brought in, all to thoroughly pursue this museum theft case.

This exhaustive search proved very effective; not long after, a forensic technician on the scene found a strand of hair in a box containing ancient paintings. The technician’s face lit up with joy and quickly used tweezers to grab the hair, putting it into a plastic bag, and promptly sent it to the forensic room for DNA testing and comparison.

The forensic room operated efficiently, and in less than half an hour, the test and comparison results were already out.

”DNA data comparison results; the hair doesn’t belong to any museum staff. Data shows the hair belongs to a young male, aged between thirty and forty. Nutritional analysis of the hair indicates a privileged lifestyle; the shampoo used is high-end, belonging to an elite group.”

Once this data arrived, the task force immediately focused on the hair’s owner.

”The hair came from the box holding the ancient paintings, but I’ve already checked; that box is near the inner side of the warehouse, usually untouched by anyone but the staff, not even the curator. But since the hair doesn’t belong to the staff, there’s only one possibility: the hair’s owner is likely a member of the theft gang!”

Everyone in the task force agreed with this analysis, and at that moment, the bespectacled detective responsible for tracking and repairing the museum system hurried back from the dispatch room. As he rushed in, he excitedly declared, ”There’s a clue... there’s a clue!”

Hearing this, the task force immediately turned to him, each tense and looking at the bespectacled man: ”What clue?”

The bespectacled man, too overwhelmed to catch his breath, stammered, ”I just used a backtracker to repair some traces left in the system log, and as a result, I really found something. Those few incomplete traces finally led me to some useful information.”
