Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1036: Chapter 1032: Chief Lu Backs Up

After signing the contract for half a year and adding two thousand as a deposit, Huo Sining directly handed five stacks of unopened ten thousand yuan banknotes to the warehouse owner. Once the owner counted the money and confirmed it was correct, they pulled a key from their waist and handed it to Huo Sining.

The two of them didn’t linger. Before leaving, they circled the Maybach a few times, took some photos leaning against it, and left satisfied.

At this time, Wu Jun had just finished arranging the containers and called Huo Sining to ask where to deliver the batch of cargo.

Huo Sining sent the address to Wu Jun and then returned to the car to call Huang Zhenlong:

”Elder Huang, I’ve got some good news for you. That batch of items is already on its way back... It’s definitely safe, and it should arrive in the Imperial Capital by the afternoon. I’ll call you then... Yes, you should arrange for a few trucks quickly, there’s quite a lot, and transporting it to the museum is an issue... Okay, I’ll leave this matter to you... Alright, just wait for my news with peace of mind.”

As soon as Huo Sining hung up the phone, within three minutes her phone rang again. Zhou Shitao was the first to call in: ”Which route did the items take, and where are they now? Are you sure there’s no problem? Do you need me to send you more people?”

Zhou Shitao sounded anxious yet also excited, filled with surprise and expectation for the artifacts about to be transported back to the Imperial Capital, eager to see them immediately.

Huo Sining reassured Zhou Shitao, signaling him to stay calm: ”Don’t worry, the items will definitely arrive tonight. They’re being transported by land, not by sea, and there hasn’t been any problem whatsoever, not a single piece missing, so rest assured.”

After a few more inquiries from Zhou Shitao, Huo Sining managed to calm him down. Just as she hung up, before she could wipe the cold sweat from her forehead, the phone rang again. On the other end, Chief Lu coughed twice and asked calmly: ”I’ve heard that you caused a stir in Dongyang and brought back a large batch of antique artifacts?”

Huo Sining was a bit embarrassed: ”Grandfather Lu, you’ve heard?”

Chief Lu made a sound of acknowledgment and said sternly: ”You young lady have your antics but there should be limits. You caused such a big commotion; everyone’s been on edge because of you. Such a big affair, and you didn’t even consult with your grandfather beforehand, didn’t say a word about it—what, don’t you trust Grandfather Lu?”

Instinctively touching her nose, Huo Sining hurriedly denied: ”No, Grandfather Lu, it’s not that I don’t trust you. It’s just that this matter involves theft and isn’t morally defensible. I was afraid you’d reprimand me if I mentioned it, so I didn’t dare tell you.”

”You knew you’d be scolded, huh? You went and caused a big ruckus and got us old folks here worrying. What audacity you have?”

Huo Sining hesitated, not knowing what to say, as the elder finished venting. He cleared his throat softly and said:

”Though your daring is indeed great, it reflects the spirit of the Huaxia Nation. While what you did was not entirely proper, giving the Dongyang people such a tough lesson and making them suffer such a loss is commendable in this regard.”

”As long as the items are back, that’s what matters. We’ve been negotiating with Dongyang for years, trying to get those artifacts returned, but all those scoundrels do is lie. Now that they’ve suffered such a great loss, I’m curious to see how they’ll handle it.”

”Your master called me this morning and said that besides the few dozen exhibition pieces, you’ve brought back over four thousand artifacts. Since the National Museum won’t acknowledge them, we’ll treat these as if they never left Huaxia. I’ll have someone help you register them. For now, they’ll be stored at the Imperial Palace Warehouse, and once your private collection is set up, we’ll discuss this further.”

Hearing this, Huo Sining was astonished. Was Chief Lu agreeing to her setting up a private collection?

”As for those dozen exhibition pieces, now that they’re exposed, let’s not show them for the time being. I’ve confiscated them, and you shouldn’t concern yourself with them.”

Understanding Chief Lu’s meaning, Huo Sining readily agreed: ”Yes, I originally planned to donate them directly, and since you’re keeping them, Grandfather, I have absolutely no objections.”

”You’ve always been clever and mischievous, but no one anticipated you’d accomplish something so significant. We old folks haven’t been sleeping well these past nights out of worry, so tell me, how will you compensate us?” Chief Lu suddenly shifted the topic.

”This...” Huo Sining was at a loss for words, a bit embarrassed.

”Never mind, I won’t make this difficult for you. Anyway, what you’ve done this time is indeed something to be proud of and refreshes the spirit.”

”I just heard from Elder Huang that the items are being transported via land back here. I’ll assign people to coordinate with Elder Huang, bringing the items into the Imperial Palace Warehouse tonight. You don’t need to worry; there will be no leaks of information, and any issues will be dealt with. If Dongyang truly turns its attention to us, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will handle it; you don’t need to worry.”

The expression on Chief Lu’s face relaxed, and a rare smile appeared in his eyes, yet his words became even more solemn and commanding:

”But there’s one point, the most important point, and you must remember it: You didn’t get caught this time by sheer luck. Don’t let a little praise get to your head. The items may be great, but letting a child like you take risks is something we old folks absolutely do not wish to see. So, just this once, never again!”

Huo Sining paused, even though the elder’s words were sharp, she could hear the deep concern and care within them.

Her heart warmed immediately, she sat up straight, and loudly replied: ”Yes, I will remember it well, never forgetting Chief’s teachings!”

Hearing Huo Sining’s playful response, Chief Lu burst into laughter. If Huo Sining were in front of him, he would’ve surely poked her forehead a few times, chuckling and scolding.

Despite that, Chief Lu left in a very good mood upon receiving this good news, even eating an extra bowl at lunch. His secretary, noticing the glow on Chief Lu’s face and his joyous demeanor, curiously asked about it, but Chief Lu simply smiled without saying a word, though he occasionally asked if the museum had called yet.

Over on Huo Sining’s side, after ending the call, she was too excited to speak for a long time.

Chief Lu’s single sentence resolved the issue she had been worried about!

With the top chief dispatching personnel to handle everything, she no longer needed to worry about follow-up issues. No matter what, Chief Lu had her back, so what was there to fear!
