Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1014: Chapter 1010: Nationwide Celebration

”Haha, I knew doing this would definitely make the police target Watanabe Yasu! It’s just too funny!”

Watanabe Yasu was out of luck; news reports were continuously covering issues related to the Watanabe Consortium. Subsequent reports mentioned Watanabe Yasu’s background, including his dismissal and divorce. Huo Sining told Yu Fei about this, and upon hearing the news, Yu Fei burst into laughter, holding his stomach with glee.

This was also Huo Sining’s crafty idea. On the afternoon of Christmas Eve, after she saw Watanabe Yasu and Hattori Keiko at the museum, Huo Sining began to think. She knew very well that her theft of the National Museum wouldn’t be kept secret for long. When the police started investigating, she couldn’t guarantee the investigation wouldn’t point to her.

Therefore, to confuse and divert the police’s attention, Huo Sining decided to deliberately reveal some ”clues.” First, she discreetly plucked a fallen hair from Watanabe Yasu’s coat and deliberately dropped it in the box containing ancient paintings in the warehouse. Then, she had Yu Fei leave a flaw in the museum’s security system and redirect the false clues to the Watanabe Consortium’s server.

This series of deceptive actions indeed caused the Police Department to lose focus, casting suspicion on Watanabe Yasu. After a round of efforts, it turned out to be an Oolong, wasting several days and missing the best investigation time that the police had anticipated.

No matter how many guesses and doubts there were domestically in Dongyang, Huo Sining could almost maintain calm, as she was sure that the police department couldn’t possibly guess that the stolen items were with such an inconspicuous exchange student like her.

With such a big incident, it couldn’t possibly be kept from foreign media. That same afternoon, the theft of the National Museum appeared successively on various newspapers, becoming headline news.

The conspiracy-loving Americans criticized and suggested with a guardian-like tone:

This is a long-planned, large-scale theft. Such a large number of artifacts and antiques couldn’t have been done by ordinary people. We have reason to believe this is an organized gang’s theft plan. If we can’t dismantle this gang, perhaps soon this gang will be targeting us. If possible, we hope Dongdu can open up and allow FBI involvement. We will fully support your country’s investigation of this case, providing the public with a satisfactory answer.

Cheery people from Country Y jokingly wondered:

The Dongdu National Museum’s warehouse was emptied, yet the thieves weren’t caught by the electronic eyes. Did Santa Claus really arrive on Christmas Eve? We have reason to believe that maybe it was because Santa Claus visited too many places that night and ran out of gifts in his sleigh, so he played a joke on Dongdu National Museum by temporarily borrowing your country’s warehouse’s goods?

In stark contrast to these Europe and America tones, when Huaxia Country received the news promptly, it triggered an uproar.

Especially later, when the National Museum held a press conference and publicly listed the stolen antiques and relics, the whole domestic scene buzzed with chatter about this major event.

Of course, those discussing it definitely didn’t use a sympathetic tone, but rather an extremely delighted one.

”Serves them right! Those items displayed in the National Museum, who knows how many were stolen from our country!”

”They are the big thieves, and now they want to catch small ones. It’s just the thief calling the thief!”

”Look at that roster, those stolen items are Huaxia artifacts, probably snatched away during the invasion wars?”

”Damn, the theft was great. If I had the skills, I’d steal too, bringing back our ancestors’ stolen artifacts!”

”Hero! Doing good deeds without leaving a name. Isn’t this like the real-life version of ’The Great Heist’?”

”Bold and talented, these are dozens of artifacts, and all are masterpieces. I just want to know how the thief managed to steal so many things in one night without the police or surveillance being able to stop them. Truly impressive!”

”Special agents, definitely special agents! More thrilling than 007 or Mission Impossible! I’d love to see the site; just imagining the scene is exciting!”

”What grudge do they have against the National Museum? Seen museum thefts, but never one so hardcore! Hahaha.”

On Weibo, once a video of the National Museum’s press conference was uploaded, it was immediately reshared by countless people, and very quickly the topic of the National Museum’s theft climbed to the top, engaging innumerable netizens, nearly all of them eager for the spectacle, wishing the whole National Museum had been emptied to relieve their anger.

”This is genius! Look at this act—how simple and crude! Haha!”

”Absolutely, now the Dongyang people are dumbfounded. Items stolen, and no one’s been caught!”

”Tell them to keep being arrogant! There’s always someone to deal with them. See, here’s the retribution! This shows that what goes around comes around!”

Amidst the celebration of glory and satisfaction, some clearminded individuals began to offer different perspectives after a round of analysis.

”The stolen items were artifacts intended for a thematic exhibit at the Dongdu National Museum. It’s said that the National Museum rented these from other museums. Who has such capability to hack the museum’s security system, then evade special police to silently move these items away?”

”The thief must be a professional. Didn’t steal other items, but stole all Huaxia’s national treasures, proving that within this gang, there’s a really skilled appraiser!”

”Was it done by someone in our country? Smugglers? Tomb robbers? Or National Defense Secrecy Bureau agents?”

”Maybe it was done by someone from another country. So far, no organization has issued a statement claiming responsibility for this.”

”I hope it was done by someone from our country. But if it truly was us, those Dongyang folks would explode, possibly leading to diplomatic conflicts with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”

”I say, no matter who did it—even if it was someone from another country—this must be praised, well done! Those items can’t return to our country stuck in Dongyang, which is frustrating. It’s better for them to be stolen, letting the Dongyang folks taste what being robbed feels like!”
