Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 499: Chapter 495: Cizhou Kiln Porcelain Pillow

After completing the first treatment for Lu Ruiqi, Huo Sining stepped out of the room, and Song Chunxue was already waiting anxiously.

Seeing Huo Sining emerge, Song Chunxue hurried over: ”How did it go?”

Huo Sining nodded: ”The treatment progressed very smoothly, Rui Qi has already fallen asleep. However, I have some news for you.”

Upon hearing this, Song Chunxue felt a sudden sinking in her heart, assuming Huo Sining was about to deliver bad news, and her face revealed a bitter smile: ”Go ahead.”

Huo Sining said with a smile, ”My Qigong Massage Technique broke through to the second level a couple of days ago, making it twice as effective as before. In other words, Rui Qi’s illness will be treated more effectively.”

Upon hearing this, Song Chunxue looked at Huo Sining in disbelief: ”Really?!”

Huo Sining nodded: ”Originally, I mentioned a recovery time of three months, didn’t I? Now it might not take that long. I estimate that two months should be enough.”

Shocked and overjoyed, Song Chunxue’s eyes widened, quickly turning red.

Not long ago, when Huo Sining accompanied Chief Lu to Yulong Mountain to treat Lu Ruiqi, she had strongly opposed it, believing that it was ridiculous for her father-in-law to bring such a young girl to treat her son.

Now, hearing what Huo Sining had said, Song Chunxue realized that she had almost harmed her own son by nearly snipping off his only lifeline.

”Ningning, Auntie really doesn’t know how to thank you enough. Rui Qi’s illness has tormented not only him but also ground away all our family’s hope and patience. Without you, I’m afraid I might have become desperate and taken him abroad to seek treatment from foreign doctors,” said Song Chunxue, her voice slightly choked with emotion, not that she favored foreign things, but domestic doctors had already caused her to lose faith.

”Auntie, I understand. Don’t worry, I said I could cure Rui Qi’s illness, and I will. I definitely won’t go back on my word. It’s just that the waiting period might be tough; you need to relax and approach it calmly and patiently, without getting impatient.”

Song Chunxue wiped the tears from her face and nodded happily: ”Yes, I know. With your word, Auntie feels relieved. Our whole family is waiting; we can wait for over a decade, a few more months won’t matter.”

Having agreed to come back after three days, Huo Sining left the Lu Family and started walking home. However, not long after setting off, she felt an uneasy sensation coming from behind, as though someone were following her.

She couldn’t help but look back, yet she saw nothing out of the ordinary.

Huo Sining was puzzled and furrowed her brow but thought no more of it and continued on her way home.

Once home, Huo Sining headed down to the basement; there were some matters about the square-shaped stool head she had acquired when buying enamel in the Imperial Capital and the Opal Glaze bowl from Taicheng that she hadn’t figured out yet.

While she didn’t have the time to solve them in the Imperial Capital, now back in S City and undisturbed, she could spend some time investigating them.

The square stool was pitch-dark, with a layer of strange dirt that did not feel sticky to the touch. It felt like plastic, but it wasn’t.

While at Dashilar, Huo Sining had used her Heavenly Eye Skill to see through it; the stool was enveloped in a purple aura. However, at that time, she was being watched by the old peddler, so she couldn’t reveal too much emotion and only took a quick glance before moving on.

Now, touching it again and reactivating her Heavenly Eye, Huo Sining discovered that this dull, pitch-black square thing was not a stool at all, but a porcelain pillow concealed within!

The porcelain pillow was squarely shaped with a slight concave curve in the middle—a perfect fit for someone to lie down and rest their neck on.

On the white surface with black decorations, incomplete images of lotus flowers, reeds, water plants, ducks swimming, and geese flying south decorated the surface, capturing the desolate beauty of an autumn scene with just a few strokes.

Carved on the surface in ink was the poem ”Like a Dream Order”: ”Like a Dream Order, once drunk in the western banquet of the Peach Garden, flowers falling at the crystal palace. Startled from a dream on this pillow, the world’s time flashes by like lightning. The swallows, the swallows, no longer see the faces of those from past years.”

At the bottom of the porcelain pillow was an Old Chinese inscription, ”Long-Life Pillow One Piece Made by Zhang Family,” which had become fuzzy due to the passing of years, but the ancient characters could still be vaguely recognized.

The glaze of the porcelain pillow was thin and refined, with white over a dark base, the glaze shinning and smooth, giving the entire surface a well-handled gleam, making the pillow appear as delicate as jade cream.

Because it was encased in a layer of strange black substance, except for a few places on the corners where the glaze had slightly chipped off due to collisions, the rest of the pillow was preserved very intact, without a single crack.

Huo Sining was not very familiar with porcelain. Seeing the inside of the porcelain pillow, she initially judged that it was probably a piece of white glazed porcelain with black decorations, a product of the famous Cizhou Kiln in Northern China from the late Ming to early Qing dynasty.

The decorative themes of Cizhou Kiln pottery mainly included popular folk scenes of landscapes, flowers, birds, and figures. The practice of often inscribing poetry, couplets, maxims, and proverbs on their pottery was also a distinctive feature of their works.

While pieces from the Cizhou Kiln are not rare, their market performance has been steadily climbing. However, Huo Sining wasn’t worried about the origin or value of this piece. What troubled her was how to remove the unsightly black material covering the exterior of the porcelain pillow.

She had crammed a lot of appraisal knowledge recently and was no longer as green as before. This dull black substance seemed inconspicuous but was a result of artificial aging. If she tried to scrape it off with a knife, she might damage the internals of the porcelain.

The value of a piece of porcelain depends on how intact it is. If damaged, the porcelain’s value might plummet, so even after discovering what was inside, Huo Sining dared not act rashly.

At least now she knew what it was, Huo Sining was not in a hurry. She put the porcelain pillow back into her ring’s space and started fiddling with the Opal Glazed Porcelain Bowl she had collected.

This Opal Glazed Bowl was very peculiar. After observing it with the Heavenly Eye, she saw intense purple aura, no less than that of the Secret Color Porcelain. Moreover, when she activated her Heavenly Eye, she even saw a scene of blooming lotuses.

But even Xie Daoyuan could not discern the bowl’s origin. He could only tentatively identify it as Opal Glaze and couldn’t specify which kiln or era it was made in.

A strange layer covered the bowl, leading many to mistake it for an ordinary one. The old man’s family even used it as an everyday bowl for eating and drinking.

But after taking the bowl home, Huo Sining examined it carefully for half an hour and still didn’t know what to do with it. Just like the porcelain pillow, she lacked the skill to deal with the material covering the bowl’s surface.
