Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 493: Chapter 489: The Black Malevolence

Resisting? Huo Sining felt puzzled and couldn’t understand why the Azure Pearl was reacting this way.

There was no water on her hand, and the Tri-colored Tang Horse hadn’t been submerged, so why would the Water-Repelling Pearl emerge without cause?

Moreover, if this Tang Sancai were genuine, the Azure Pearl should have been very pleased. If the item was a fake, then the Azure Pearl wouldn’t have reacted at all, so what was going on now?

As Huo Sining wondered, the Heavenly Eye opened, and a galloping horse dashed before her eyes, with the sound of a horse’s neigh coming from the depths of her heart.

Upon hearing that sound, Huo Sining had no time to react when a sinister and chilly aura instantly shot out from beneath her hand. She trembled slightly, uncontrollably, and was stunned by the transformation of the horse effigy before her.

Under the sight of the Heavenly Eye, not a hint of purple aura covered the horse, and the originally white glazed body was enshrouded in black aura.

Because Huo Sining’s hand was still on the horse, the black aura, as if sentient, wound itself along her wrist, seemingly trying to burrow into her body.

”Ah!”

Huo Sining was startled and let out a soft shout, her hand trembling so much that she almost dropped the Tang Sancai horse to the ground.

”What’s wrong?” Noticing Huo Sining’s condition, Feng Yang, who had been covertly observing her, couldn’t help but ask aloud.

”It’s nothing,” Huo Sining replied immediately, and quickly placed the galloping horse back on the table with lightning speed.

Despite Huo Sining’s claim that nothing was wrong, her deathly pale face betrayed her. It wasn’t just Feng Yang, even Ding Liang cast a puzzled look in her direction.

But at this moment, Huo Sining couldn’t care less about what they were thinking. She felt an intense pain in her wrist and a fine layer of sweat broke out on her forehead.

During that brief exploration, although she had quickly withdrawn her hand, she sensed that the dark malice from the horse had already penetrated into her wrist and was continuing its climb up her right arm.

Huo Sining was taken aback. On instinct, she immediately summoned the Azure Pearl’s spiritual energy to her wrist to resist the invasion of the dark aura.

As she had anticipated, the spiritual energy from the Azure Pearl thwarted the black aura’s advance. Slowly, it was dissipated by the spiritual energy.

Nevertheless, Huo Sining could feel that the abundant Green Spiritual Energy from the Azure Pearl had been exhausted by the struggle with the black malevolence, and the originally condensed, milky luster of the Azure Pearl seemed to dim slightly before slowly sinking into oblivion from her forehead.

Huo Sining was scared and relieved at the same time. If her reaction had been just a fraction slower, or if she hadn’t had the Azure Pearl’s protection, she might have been harmed by the malice already.

Just thinking about it made her shiver with cold.

Glancing at the Tri-colored Tang Horse, Huo Sining was filled with both doubt and suspicion. She didn’t know where the malice on the horse came from, nor could she be sure whether the horse was authentic, as this was her first encounter with such a situation.

However, having suffered such a setback, Huo Sining dared not rashly touch the horse again. Just looking at it made her shudder with fear, let alone touching it again.

Noticing Huo Sining’s poor condition, Ding Liang’s brows tightened slightly as he quietly asked, ”Huo Sining, do you feel unwell? Your complexion seems very unhealthy.”

Huo Sining forced a smile and shook her head, saying, ”It’s nothing, just suddenly feeling a bit dizzy, probably a little anemic. I’ll be fine after some rest.”

Upon hearing this, Ding Liang took it for the truth and did not ask further.

The preservation of the Tang Sancai this exquisite and complete naturally sparked the curiosity of the other three. Ding Liang was somewhat more composed, but Li Xuanbing and Feng Yang could hardly contain themselves, reaching out to grab the Tang Sancai Galloping Horse on the table.

”Wait!” Huo Sining’s heart tightened, and she instinctively spoke up to stop them.

She was standing right next to Li Xuanbing, and even though she was already some distance away from the galloping horse, she could still feel the chilling aura emanating from the tri-colored horse, carrying a coldness and eeriness that made Huo Sining extremely wary.

”What’s wrong?” Li Xuanbing looked at Huo Sining, puzzled.

”Let’s not touch it. The colors on this Tang Sancai seem too vibrant to me, it feels a bit strange. After all, this object came from an ancient tomb, who knows if there’s something unclean adhering to it?”

Despite saying this, Huo Sining’s face showed a hint of embarrassment, as she too felt her reasoning was somewhat absurd.

Li Xuanbing laughed heartily: ”Hahaha, Huo Sining, I didn’t expect an antiques player like you to hold such feudal superstitious beliefs. Don’t you find that funny? Don’t worry, even if there were a thousand-year-old evil spirit, it wouldn’t crawl out of the ancient tomb to claim your life!”

It wasn’t just Li Xuanbing—Ding Liang and Feng Yang also couldn’t help but laugh, leaving Huo Sining’s face burning with embarrassment.

But she really didn’t know how to explain the oddity of the Tang Sancai, and as she watched Li Xuanbing and Feng Yang admiring the tri-colored horse with continuous praise, she couldn’t bring herself to approach and could only watch helplessly.

Seeing Huo Sining’s uneasy expression as she watched the tri-colored galloping horse, Ding Liang felt something was off.

Being the one who knew Huo Sining the best among the group, he understood that with her appraisal skills, she shouldn’t be so easily frightened by a few alarming rumors. But her anxious demeanor was unmistakably genuine, could it be that there was really something wrong with the tri-colored horse?

Having been with Xie Daoyuan for a long time, Ding Liang had naturally seen and heard more than Li Xuanbing and Feng Yang.

He had seen many Tang Sancai before, but it was indeed his first time encountering one with colors so vivid and almost enchanting.

With doubts in his heart, Ding Liang refrained from touching the Tang Sancai as well.

After Li Xuanbing and Feng Yang had finished looking at the Tang Sancai horse without any unusual occurrence, Huo Sining, however, felt somewhat uneasy. Just then, a staff member from the Cultural Relics Bureau came to tally the items and was instantly dazzled by the sight of the tri-colored horse, promptly registering it and preparing it for boxing and shipment.

Li Xuanbing and Feng Yang reluctantly handed the tri-colored horse over to the staff, their hearts filled with reluctance as they wistfully watched the horse figurine being put into the box.

Seeing how they almost wanted to shove their heads into the box, Captain Wu couldn’t help but shake his head with a chuckle.

The compensated redemption had come to an end, and the preliminary rescue work at the ancient tomb was also nearing its conclusion. The artifacts from outside the main tomb chamber had all been taken out for processing by the Taicheng Cultural Relics Bureau, and the work for Huo Sining and her team was nearly over.

According to what Xie Daoyuan implied in his words, because they had made significant efforts, they were to receive extra rewards upon their return, which lifted the spirits of all the trainees tremendously.

Unexpectedly, something went wrong on the night before they were scheduled to head back.
