Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 484: Chapter 480: Whose Fault?

Huo Sining was well aware of the situation, but she wasn’t willing to ruin someone’s life over such an incident.

Although Feng Yang was to blame, Huo Sining knew he had only wanted to teach her a minor lesson and hadn’t anticipated such a serious chain of events to follow.

If she were to take the blame for this error, it would merely be seen as a careless act, certainly not intentional, and at most she would face a warning; but if she revealed Feng Yang’s malicious act, he would definitely not escape the charge of deliberately damaging national heritage, which would destroy the life of this trainee.

Compared to ruining someone’s entire life, Huo Sining preferred to shoulder the blame herself, as her unintentional mistake was far less severe compared to Feng Yang’s premeditated sabotage.

”If that’s the case, pack your things and let Mr. Gu take you back to the S City area.”

Professor Ji was protective, but that was on the condition that his own people hadn’t made a mistake. He understood that the impact of the incident caused by Huo Sining was significant, and the most prudent solution was to send Huo Sining back home, away from the center of the storm; that would be the best form of protection for her.

Seeing Feng Yang’s guilty expression and Li Xuanbing’s hesitance, Gu Xu couldn’t help but furrow his brows.

Although Huo Sining was young, she wasn’t the sort of person to act without understanding the implications. Gu Xu sharply sensed that there was more to this incident than met the eye.

But now wasn’t the time to delve into these details; Huo Sining’s knee wound, though forcefully stopped from bleeding by him, was noticeably swelling up and had to be treated quickly to prevent the risk of scarring from tetanus.

Without a second thought, he picked up Huo Sining and headed downstairs.

With Huo Sining sent away, Feng Yang felt no joy, only one question echoed in his mind, why.

Li Xuanbing was also perplexed; she had clearly seen Feng Yang stick out his foot. This incident was obviously Feng Yang’s doing, so why did Huo Sining admit it was her own mistake? Did she not realize the seriousness of the consequences of her confession?

”Alright, those who are here for appraisal, go and do your appraisals, those who are here for testing, go and do your testing,” Professor Ji sighed, ”I will report this incident truthfully; it won’t affect any of you.”

Professor Ji’s words filled Feng Yang with shame, particularly under Li Xuanbing’s strange gaze, a mix of regret and embarrassment filled him.

His face flushed red, and as he watched everyone go their separate ways, he struggled within himself, took a deep breath, and finally summoned the courage to lift his head and say:

”This was my fault, it has nothing to do with Huo Sining!”

”What did you say?” Ma Liwen’s face immediately darkened, Professor Ji also turned around in surprise.

Remorse was written all over Feng Yang’s face, ”It was caused by me. I wanted to teach Huo Sining a lesson, so I tripped her when she wasn’t paying attention... ”

Ma Liwen’s face turned alternately pale and flushed, at a loss for words.

Earlier, when he had reprimanded Huo Sining, he had been self-righteously indignant, but now that he knew the truth, he felt only mocking irony, as if he had been slapped hard in the face.

Compared to the generosity and forgiveness of Huo Sining and her siblings, Ma Liwen and Feng Yang were like two buffoonish clowns.

Unable to hold back any longer, Li Xuanbing finally spoke up, ”I saw it too. It was Feng Yang who tripped Huo Sining, which caused her to stumble and fall forward. It’s not Huo Sining’s responsibility for what happened.”

Li Xuanbing was indeed jealous of Huo Sining, but she also knew right from wrong. This incident was not Huo Sining’s fault, and it was unreasonable for her to have to bear the responsibility.

Ji Kun’s eyes were shrouded in gloom. He was aware that he had brought enmity upon Huo Sining, making the other trainees target her, yet he hadn’t anticipated such an incident occurring.

Thinking of Huo Sining’s injured knee and how she was wronged yet still maintained a forced smile, Ji Kun only felt a surge of suffocation and distress, his body instantly stiffening, unable to speak for a long while.

Ma Liwen knew he was in the wrong and tried to curry favor with Ji Kun, ”Professor Ji, about this matter...”

Ma Liwen was startled, ”What?”

”I’m saying that you spoke incorrectly earlier. As a trainee, no, as an archaeology professor, as an antiquities expert, what you should know first is not to act prudently or to be meticulous, but to learn how to be a person, how to be humble in seeking advice, kind to others, and broad-minded, rather than selfish, envious of the talented, or driven by petty revenge!” Ji Kun said sternly to Ma Liwen.

”If you can’t do that, then you don’t deserve to be called an expert professor, nor do you deserve to be a role model for others!” Ji Kun continued.

Ma Liwen had no retort, his face turning the color of liver as Ji Kun did not continue to press when he had the upper hand, merely snorting coldly, ”I hope such an incident does not occur a second time!”

Huo Sining was taken to the infirmary for wound sterilization and treatment. Gu Xu, harboring doubts, phoned Ji Kun, ”Professor Ji, there’s something odd about today’s incident. I suspect those two trainees...”

”I already know,” Ji Kun replied, his voice somewhat heavy.

”You handle Huo Sining’s case. If her injuries aren’t too serious, let her continue with this special operation. I’ll take care of Ma Liwen’s side. I believe he wouldn’t want his student’s future ruined over this,” he added.

Gu Xu glanced back at Huo Sining inside the room and fell silent.

”I know you want to get even for her, but I feel that, with her temperament, she might not appreciate it,” Ji Kun continued after a sigh.

”She’s both the victim and an informant today. With her usual way of doing things, she wouldn’t likely suffer in silence, but her choice to remain silent indicates that she doesn’t want to pursue the other party’s fault,” he reasoned.

Sensing something, Huo Sining smiled gently at Gu Xu, who responded with a silent, gloomy look and a soft ”Mm” as acknowledgement.

Ji Kun let out a sigh of relief, ”Find a way to get the surveillance footage from the appraisal room without attracting attention. Let Feng Yang off the hook this time. Hopefully, that young man can repent and start anew.”

The results of the porcelain appraisal came out quickly, and as everyone expected, the celadon tea bowl was indeed over twelve hundred years old, meaning it was indeed a Tang Dynasty Yue Kiln Secret Color Porcelain piece.

The news shocked all the expert professors and trainees.

With the surveillance footage in Ji Kun’s hands, Ma Liwen became much more honest and no longer dared to seek credit. Instead, he forthrightly announced that Huo Sining was the appraiser of the bowl.

Ji Kun wore a look of satisfaction, as if he were the one who had identified the Yue Kiln Secret Color Porcelain, ”See, I told you my junior sister is competent, right?”

Of course, it wasn’t just the porcelain bowl that shocked everyone, but also the box that Huo Sining had sorted through.

The boxes sorted by the trainees required a second screening by the professors, especially after Huo Sining had selected a piece of Secret Color Porcelain, which made the professors even warier. They worried that there might be gems that the trainees missed, so they meticulously rescreened each box.
