Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 457: Chapter 453 Zhang Shuang

Zhang Shuang froze when she saw the name ”Huo Sining” on the form. Another look at the address only confirmed her suspicions.

”What’s the deal with this record? Why did you arrest Huo Sining?”

The patrol officer, upon hearing Zhang Shuang’s question, quickly explained, ”This Huo Sining was trafficking freshly unearthed cultural artifacts, so we detained her. This woman is detestable, not only hoarding stolen goods but also giving us a false address, she’s so arrogant! She must be relying on the fact that she’s a woman, thinking our police station wouldn’t dare do anything to her!”

Zhang Shuang coldly looked at the patrol officer before her, her eyes filled with scorn, ”How do you know she gave a false address?”

The patrol officer was taken aback, ”Chief Tian said so. He said he’s been to this address; it seems that the landlord’s surname is Huang, and there’s no such person in the Huang Family.”

”Chief Tian said that? He’s the one who arrested her?”

The patrol officer nodded, ”Yes.”

Zhang Shuang snorted coldly, ”Since you say she was trafficking freshly unearthed cultural artifacts, where are the stolen goods?”

Upon hearing this, the patrol officer suddenly sensed something was wrong. He chuckled nervously, ”Sister Shuang, are you interested in this case? Chief Tian handled this case; if you want to know anything, you should go ask Director Guo directly.”

If Zhang Shuang couldn’t understand what was happening at this moment, she would be an idiot. She coldly looked at the patrol officer and scoffed,

”I’ll say this only once, release the person immediately and return the items to the rightful owner. Otherwise, you’ll bear the consequences!”

The patrol officer, upon hearing Zhang Shuang’s words, immediately showed an embarrassed expression, ”Sister Shuang, you’ve just started working here. If you want to release someone, could you please ask Chief Tian first? If he approves, I’ll release her immediately; I don’t have the authority otherwise.”

Zhang Shuang stared directly at the patrol officer, ”Are you going to release her or not?”

The patrol officer grinned sheepishly, ”Sister Shuang, please don’t scare me; I really can’t make this decision. You don’t understand, that woman has offended Miss An Yueru from the An Family. They specifically asked to deal with her, and if we minions don’t follow orders, we’ll be replaced by others tomorrow.”

”The An family? Which An family?” Zhang Shuang asked, looking puzzled.

The patrol officer laughed upon hearing this, ”How many An families could there be in the Imperial Capital? It’s the An family that’s in-laws with the Liang Family.”

At the mention of the Liang Family, Zhang Shuang’s eyelids twitched involuntarily, and her spirited eyebrows furrowed as a strong look of disgust flashed across her eyes.

”Are you saying that because the An family is involved, you don’t dare to release her? So you mean, there’s more to this case than meets the eye?” asked Zhang Shuang.

The patrol officer’s face stiffened, ”I didn’t say that. Sister Shuang, if you want to know anything, you should go directly to Chief Tian; I still have to take a statement,” he said.

With that, the patrol officer headed for the interrogation room. Zhang Shuang’s eyes held an even deeper look of mockery, and she softly spat out two words, ”Idiot!”

Huang Hanyun was out reporting news when her phone suddenly rang. She picked it up and her eyes lit up at the caller ID. Eagerly answering the phone, she said, ”Brother Shuang, you’re back?!”

A nonchalant ”hmm” came from the other end of the phone, followed by a sudden question, ”The little girl your family just recognized, her name is Huo Sining, right?”

Huang Hanyun laughed, ”Right, you’ve just returned to the country, and you already know about Ningning? I’ll bring her over for you to meet sometime; the girl didn’t grow up in our Huang Family, but she’s quite capable. She also has a good temperament and personality, I think she should be to your liking!”

On the other side, Zhang Shuang said indifferently, ”Sometime in the future? No need for that trouble, she’s right here in our police station!”

”Police station?!” Huang Hanyun was taken aback, thinking Zhang Shuang was joking. She had left home with Huo Sining just that morning; how could she have ended up in the station for no good reason?

”The charge is trafficking in antiques, concealing cultural artifacts. I’ve heard that the An family has intervened in this matter, and the girl seems to have offended that Miss An from the An family.”

Zhang Shuang didn’t have the slightest intention of tipping anyone off, and blurted out the news in the office.

The other officers in the office were all listening, their ears practically perked up. Hearing Zhang Shuang’s words, they looked at each other in dismay, sensing something off in the tone of her voice.

Huang Hanyun, upon hearing this, flew into a rage, ”Bullshit, if you’re going to arrest someone, at least find a decent excuse. Concealing cultural artifacts, isn’t that a joke?! What the hell does that Miss An count for, which idiot cop arrested someone without thinking?”

Seeing how agitated Huang Hanyun had become, Zhang Shuang actually found it amusing, ”You’re still the same as before, that fiery temper. Alright, I’ll try to block for you. You should see who can help on your end and get her released.”

Upon hearing this, Huang Hanyun calmed down, remembering something, and suddenly laughed out loud:

”Hey, why am I bothering about this? There’s no need for us to intervene at all! My cousin now has a higher status than either of us. If she’s been arrested, there are people who are going to be more anxious than us!”

Zhang Shuang was taken aback by this. She had only been back in the country for less than three days, suffering from jet lag, and had only heard about Huo Sining from Huang Hanyun before the New Year.

Zhang Shuang was unaware of what had transpired during the recognition banquet, nor did she know that Huo Sining had become Chief Lu’s adopted granddaughter, the subject of eager attention from many prominent families. Hearing Huang Hanyun’s words, she was about to ask what she meant, but just at that moment, the door to the station was pushed open.

”Where is Tian Weiguo?”

The man who entered first was in a hurry, immediately calling out for Chief Tian upon entering.

Zhang Shuang instinctively raised her head to look at the newcomer; with just one glance, she recognized him—it was Director Guo Dongliang, who had accompanied her to the police station for her induction the day before.

Upon seeing the arrival, the several officers working in the hall instinctively stood up straight and respectfully greeted, ”Director Guo, hello!”

At this moment, however, Guo Dongliang had no time to deal with these officers. He walked straight to Chief Tian’s office and kicked open the door, ”Where is the person?”

Chief Tian was in the midst of a merry game of online landlord when the door was suddenly kicked open, startling him. Annoyed, he turned to scold the intruder.

But the moment he turned around and saw Director Guo’s angry face, Chief Tian was baffled and asked, ”Director, who are you looking for?”

Director Guo was about to explode with fury, ”I’m asking you about the person you just arrested at Dashilar?”

Upon hearing this, Chief Tian immediately laughed. He thought An Yueru had doubts about his reliability and had brought in Director Guo to apply pressure. He hurriedly explained with a smile:

”Director, you don’t need to worry yourself with such trivial matters. Rest assured, with both human and material evidence, I’ll handle this case well. As soon as Xiao Li finishes the interrogation, we can file the case, and within three days, it’ll be taken care of. I guarantee this woman won’t be able to turn the tables!”
