Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 452: Chapter 448: Playing the Pig to Eat the Tiger

Huo Sining hooked the corner of her mouth and swung the backpack from behind to the front.

The young vendor sneered, believing that Huo Sining was just bluffing and acting at this moment.

But the next second, his expression froze, incredulously staring at the scene in front of him.

The little girl who he had pegged as a petty thief had actually pulled out three thick stacks of banknotes from her bag, and the bank bands hadn’t even been removed, clearly just withdrawn from the bank!

How could this be possible, how could she have so much money?

Shock and astonishment flashed through the young vendor’s eyes, and he stared at Huo Sining resentfully once more.

Seeing that Huo Sining had taken out the money, the old man was genuinely happy.

A deal was struck just like that, making nearly thirty thousand in one go, anyone would be overjoyed.

The elder happily found a box to pack the set of porcelain bowls Huo Sining had her eye on and handed it over to her.

Just as he was about to take the three stacks of unopened banknotes from Huo Sining’s hand, the young vendor suddenly spoke up again, ”Elder Huang, you’d better look closely, that money might have a problem, don’t get cheated out of your coffin money at your age!”

Huo Sining was now completely furious. She was being challenged over and over again just for buying something in good faith. She hadn’t offended the vendor, so why was he so fixated on her?

Huo Sining handed the stack of banknotes to the old man and turned around to look coldly at the young vendor, ”Do you also want to check this money?”

Elder Huang took the three stacks of banknotes in hand, and because of the young vendor’s words, he indeed became cautious, removing the band and counting the money note by note.

After double-checking and making sure there was no mistake, the old man was finally at ease and nodded to Huo Sining, ”Exactly thirty thousand, no mistake!”

The young vendor’s face turned red with the old man’s confirmation, his eyes shifting as if trying to find an excuse to change the subject, but Huo Sining wouldn’t act as if nothing had happened. She looked at the young vendor with a smile that was not quite a smile and asked lightly,

”Young man, unless I am mistaken, you just said that if I could produce five thousand, I could pick anything from this stall of yours, didn’t you?”

The young vendor, upon hearing Huo Sining’s words, was at a loss for words, and Huo Sining’s gaze turned colder, ”What’s the matter, are you just all talk and no action?”

How could the vendor actually let Huo Sining pick anything she wanted? He turned his head away, not daring to meet Huo Sining’s gaze and said with some guilt,

”Didn’t you say that even if I gave you something from here, you wouldn’t want it? So our bet doesn’t count. Besides, verbal agreements count for nothing, do you have any evidence that I said that?”

This person really had no shame; he had spoken so confidently before, but now he was completely denying it!

Huo Sining was so angry she was about to argue with the vendor, but the old man next to her couldn’t stand it any longer and hurriedly pulled Huo Sining back,

”No no no, miss, don’t get upset, business is about making money in a friendly way. He promised you, and he won’t go back on his word. How about this, I’ll give you an extra gift as a bonus?”

The elderly gentleman was persuading Huo Sining while desperately winking at the young vendor next to him.

Huo Sining noticed that the elderly man was defending the vendor and guessed that the two might be very familiar, perhaps even in cahoots. Her expression immediately softened, and she looked at the elderly gentleman and said,

”It’s not that I’m getting worked up, but he didn’t keep his word. If a businessman lacks honesty, he’s bound to lose a ton of repeat customers!”

As she spoke, Huo Sining paused before suddenly saying, ”Elder, I’ve bought something so expensive from you, you should really give me a little extra. Thirty thousand and not a single gift? That’s really stingy. Even supermarkets give a glass bowl when you buy instant noodles!”

The corners of the elderly man’s mouth couldn’t help but twitch when he heard this, just as he was about to say how shrewd this young lady had become, she hit him with such a remark.

The elderly man felt like going mad, where on earth was this idiot from? How dare she call him stingy? Since when could buying antiques be compared to supermarket promotions? When did Antique Street start doing a ’buy one get one free’ deal?

Luckily, the elderly man didn’t have any diseases like heart attacks or cerebral hemorrhage, or he would have been angered to illness by Huo Sining. Seeing her rattle on about her so-called logic, the elderly man lost the mood to tangle with her any further and impatiently interrupted her,

”Alright, alright, haven’t I agreed to give you a bonus? Tell me, what do you want? As long as it’s not anything too valuable, I’ll give it to you straight away!”

”Really?” Stars suddenly twinkled in Huo Sining’s eyes as she excitedly pointed at an inkstone near the elderly man and said with a sly smile, ”Then I want that!”

The elderly man followed the direction of Huo Sining’s finger and his expression instantly fell,

”Young lady, you sure have a good eye. That inkstone is a genuine Qing Dynasty Duan inkstone. Although it’s slightly damaged, it’s still worth around seven to eight thousand yuan. Do you think it’s appropriate as a bonus?”

A barely noticeable smile flickered across Huo Sining’s eyes. Elder Huang was not lying; that was indeed a Qing Dynasty Duan inkstone. However, her move was just to divert Elder Huang’s attention.

Sure enough, Huo Sining pointed out several items around the stall, all too expensive for Elder Huang to give away as a bonus.

Huo Sining suddenly got angry, stomped her foot, and exclaimed, ”You won’t allow this and won’t give that, what exactly are you going to give me as a bonus?!”

Elder Huang’s eyes rolled around, and suddenly, catching sight of the unassuming square object at Huo Sining’s feet, a lightbulb went off in his head and he looked at Huo Sining with a grin like a sly old fox,

”How about this, I’ll give you that stool as a bonus!”

Huo Sining felt a surge of delight internally, but her face showed disdain and fury, ”You’re not joking, are you? That thing would be ignored even if it were thrown on the ground, and you’re giving me such junk as a bonus?”

Elder Huang felt somewhat guilty but put on a mysteriously convincing tone,

”You know about the Xi’an Ghost Market, right? That place is full of grave robbers selling antiques. Let me tell you the truth, that stool was acquired by my son from the Ghost Market in Xi’an earlier this year.”

”However, since no one could figure out what it actually was, I’ve had it for several months with no buyers, so I just used it as a stool. Giving this to you, it might just turn out to be an undiscovered treasure. If that’s the case, then it’s your lucky day, girl!”

Chuckling to herself, Huo Sining thought, you are indeed correct, this thing is probably a hidden gem, but luckily it’s you who can’t see its origins; otherwise, it would never have been my turn.
