Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 483: Chapter 479: Setting a Trap

Ma Liwen also knew why Ji Kun was doing this and obviously understood that Ji Kun was guarding against him tripping him up and making a false accusation. His complexion suddenly became unnatural, and a flash of darkness passed through his eyes.

Glancing over at Feng Yang and Li Xuanbing, who were standing to one side, Ma Liwen waved his hand: ”Since that’s the case, let’s just have a few trainees go take a look as well. I’ll keep watch here.”

Ji Kun did not object, and Shi Qingyun hastily gestured for Huo Sining and the other two to follow, as the group headed towards the door.

Anxious to learn the truth about this porcelain bowl, both professors were quite excited, and no one noticed anything unusual about the people around them.

Just as they reached the door, Feng Yang suddenly stuck out a foot, and Huo Sining, caught off guard, stepped right on Feng Yang’s extended leg. She immediately stumbled, her body uncontrollably lurching towards Ji Kun in front of her.

”Ah--”

Realizing that Feng Yang was up to no good, Huo Sining’s face changed dramatically, but it was too late for second thoughts. She knew the severe consequences that this collision could bring about.

”Be careful!”

Li Xuanbing next to her desperately tried to grab Huo Sining, but before she could reach her clothes, Huo Sining had already tumbled forward.

Ji Kun was also stunned by this sudden turn of events. The moment he realized he was going to be hit, he couldn’t care less about the risk of breaking both his arms. He urgently raised the teacup in his hands high, hoping only to protect the safety of the Yue Kiln Secret Color Porcelain.

Unfortunately, his reaction was still too slow. The precious porcelain slipped out of his hands as he lunged forward.

As the teacup flew out, Ji Kun’s heart sank instantly. Anticipating what the outcome would be, he was so frightened that he closed his eyes, unable to look.

In the blink of an eye, just as Huo Sining was about to fall over Ji Kun, a figure darted out like lightning, steadying the lurching Ji Kun with a pair of strong arms, and at the moment the teacup was about to hit the ground, smoothly caught it.

Behind her, Huo Sining lost her footing completely and, lurching several times, hit her knee sharply against the door threshold. A large gash appeared instantly, and blood began to flow.

After steadying Ji Kun and handing him the porcelain cup, Gu Xu turned his head to inquire what had happened, only to lower his eyes and see Huo Sining kneeling at the threshold.

”What are you doing? Do you have any idea that the cup almost...”

Ji Kun, who had been helped up, regained his composure and anxiously glanced at the Secret Color Porcelain in his hands, his heart filled with relief and boundless anger.

He turned back furiously to scold her, but just as he was about to speak, he saw the knees of Huo Sining’s stockings had been torn, with two wounds gushing blood like fountains.

Huo Sining’s complexion was deathly pale. In the instant she fell, her mind had gone blank, unable to think at all.

It was not until Gu Xu picked her up that she came back to her senses, the tearing pain from her knees causing her entire face to scrunch up.

Gu Xu’s eyes, gentle yet brimming with heartache and concern, were fixed intently on Huo Sining, ”Are you okay?”

Huo Sining shook her head, her gaze somewhat fixed as she looked at the bowl in Ji Kun’s hands, confirming it was intact; only then did she let out a long sigh of relief.

Even though she wasn’t particularly interested in antique appraisal, now that she had decided to enter this circle, whether she would win or lose, she at least couldn’t afford to end it in such a manner.

If a bowl was shattered, maybe she could ask Yan Feng for help in repairing it, but once this grave mistake was made, not only would it cause her master and senior brother to lose face, but she would also no longer have a place in the circle of antique appraisal.

The mere thought of the chain reaction this collision could trigger caused Huo Sining’s heart to palpitate with fear; at this moment, she didn’t harbor resentment towards the instigator, but instead felt boundless gratitude to Gu Xu, her timely savior.

Feng Yang was completely stunned; he had been repeatedly squashed by Huo Sining just now regarding the Jade Spring Bottle and the Secret Color Porcelain, and jealousy and resentment had clouded his mind, leaving him with only one crazed thought: he had to teach Huo Sining a lesson.

Feng Yang’s initial intention was merely to make Huo Sining fall and embarrass herself, but he utterly forgot that Ji Kun was walking right in front of her.

In Ji Kun’s hands was a priceless Flourishing Tang Dynasty Secret Color Porcelain Teacup, which carried not only historical research value but also clues for the special police investigating cultural artifact traffickers.

As a result, Feng Yang’s trip made Huo Sining lunge towards Ji Kun.

In the instant Huo Sining collided with Ji Kun, Feng Yang froze completely, forgetting to breathe, even forgetting why he’d done such a foolish thing.

Ma Liwen was also shocked by the scene unfolding before his eyes; when he finally came to his senses, he heard Huo Sining cry out in pain. Ma Liwen leapt up and rushed to the door, ignoring Feng Yang’s strangeness and cutting straight past him to Ji Kun’s side, urgently inquiring, ”The bowl, did it break?!”

Seeing that the porcelain bowl was unharmed, Ma Liwen heaved a sigh of relief; Shi Qingyun stood beside him, his face grave and cautious as he looked at the Secret Color Porcelain, his voice trembling slightly, ”It’s good that it’s not broken, good that it’s not broken!”

Apart from the three nearby trainees, the others were unaware of the cause, assuming it was an accident caused by Huo Sining’s carelessness. After confirming the porcelain bowl was alright, Ma Liwen turned back and scolded Huo Sining, ”As an appraisal specialist, the first thing you must learn is to be cautious and meticulous. I don’t deny your ability in treasure appraisal, but I believe your behavior today was inappropriate. If it wasn’t for this special forces comrade, your blunder could have led to a huge disaster! I think you must withdraw from this archaeological project and thoroughly reflect on your actions!”

Clearly, Ma Liwen was seizing the opportunity to establish his own agenda, because Huo Sining had made him and his apprentices embarrassed before, and how could he pass up the chance to reprimand Huo Sining?

But Huo Sining didn’t argue. She quietly looked at Ma Liwen and smiled faintly, ”I’m willing to take responsibility for the mistake; my carelessness almost caused an irreversible loss, and I am sorry.”

Even though she knew full well that Feng Yang, out of jealousy, had retaliated in a mean-spirited way, Huo Sining did indeed bear inescapable responsibility because she had been too careless, not noticing the ill intent of those around her, which led to the incident.

Huo Sining’s reaction was beyond Feng Yang’s expectations; his eyes widened in shock, he looked at Huo Sining in disbelief.

By doing this, Huo Sining was clearly choosing to take the blame, but Feng Yang didn’t understand why Huo Sining didn’t mention a word about him tripping her.

Perhaps this result was advantageous for him, but for Huo Sining, it would be an indelible stain. It would not take long for this incident to spread from the mouths of professors and students, and her future path would be exceptionally difficult.
