Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 451: Chapter 447: Looking Down on Someone With a Dog’s Eyes

However, Huo Sining had no intention of exposing him. Instead, she purposely acted like a naive little bird and glanced at the old man’s gestured number with confusion, expressing her doubt:

”Eight hundred? Why so expensive? If I buy bowls at the supermarket, even seven bowls would only cost me around forty or fifty yuan. Although your bowl is pretty, it’s too pricey!”

The old man became anxious as soon as he heard this. This young lady seemed like she wouldn’t care much for money, so why was she being so stingy? He wasn’t gesturing eight hundred; he meant eighty thousand!

He originally thought that the young lady was quite generous and was hoping to do good business with her, but she didn’t seem to be catching on!

”Miss, you can’t compare this item with those in the supermarkets. Those are mass-produced by machines, each bowl identical and costing mere pennies to make. This set is from the Qing Dynasty, centuries-old antiques. How could it possibly sell for just eight hundred? Even if you don’t use them, just displaying them in the living room would give you a lot of face!”

Watching the old man’s animated gesturing and earnest expression while holding the bowl, Huo Sining couldn’t help but find it amusing. She was delighted inside but still maintained an innocent and puzzled facade, pretending to not understand:

”Not eight hundred? Then how much are you asking for? Don’t tell me it’s eight thousand?”

The old man was completely at a loss for words. He had already explained that these were century-old antiques, and yet she still didn’t get it?

He almost blew his top, rolling his eyes while Huo Sining wasn’t looking, and then continued with a calmer tone, ”Not eight thousand, eighty thousand! Miss, this is enamel. You ask anyone on this street if you could get enamel for eight thousand.”

If it were really Qing Dynasty enamel, not to mention eighty thousand, even eight hundred thousand would find a buyer. But for a fake, even eight thousand was too much!

Hearing the old man’s words, Huo Sining couldn’t help but retort internally. However, she put on a distressed face, ”That expensive? Oh my goodness, but I don’t have that much money!”

The young vendor beside them had been paying attention to the commotion here ever since Huo Sining walked up, and upon hearing her claim of not having enough money, he couldn’t help snickering and rudely interjected:

”Master Huang, don’t waste your strength. If she doesn’t have the money, how could she possibly afford your enamel? You better keep an eye out and not end up both losing your wife and getting your troops defeated, letting someone sneak away with your goods!”

The old man’s face fell upon seeing the young vendor butting in, and he glared fiercely at the young vendor, speaking in a gruff tone:

”I don’t need you directing traffic here. Better mind your own business!”

Embarrassed by the old man, the young vendor’s face immediately soured, and he huffed to himself somewhat annoyed, ”Hmph, old fool, ’a dog bites Lu Dongbin,’ ungrateful for good intentions. I’d like to see how you get unlucky today!”

With that thought, the young vendor stopped minding his stall and folded his arms across his chest, watching Huo Sining with a cold gaze.

After the old man had lashed out at the young vendor, he turned back around and asked Huo Sining with a pleasant demeanor, ”Miss, you say you don’t have that much money, then how much do you have?”

True to her naive demeanor, Huo Sining blushed and said, ”Elder, your price is too steep. I can’t afford it. I have only fifty thousand yuan in my purse. If it were just a thousand or so, I might have bought it, but you’re asking for too much!”

The old man’s eyes lit up upon hearing that Huo Sining had fifty thousand yuan in her bag, sheer joy filling his heart.

He said that the girl didn’t seem like someone without money, and that her intelligence wasn’t very high, since she had let slip all her details so quickly.

Although he called out a price of eighty thousand, the set of porcelain bowls had cost him just a thousand yuan when he’d acquired them. Selling them for fifty thousand would still net him a hefty profit.

”Isn’t that how business goes, one person calls out a price and the other haggles? I see that you really fancy this set of enamel, so how about this, since you’ve already said so, I’m willing to take a loss here, and sell it to you for fifty thousand, how does that sound?”

Huo Sining shook her head upon hearing this, her eyes wavering with hesitation and struggle, ”I only have a total of fifty thousand, and I still need to buy other things. I can’t use it all up.”

The young vendor overheard Huo Sining’s words and immediately laughed. He looked at Huo Sining with sarcasm and said,

”Fifty thousand? Elder Huang, do you actually believe her? She’s cracking me up. Seriously, forget fifty thousand; I doubt she could even come up with five thousand! If you’re broke, don’t wander around Antique Street pretending. You think I can’t tell what you’re up to?”

Huo Sining’s eyes blazed with anger upon hearing the vendor’s words, and she said with a mocking laugh, ”And what if I do take it out?”

The young vendor also lost his temper, ”If you do take it out, you can pick any item you like from Elder Huang’s stall!”

Huo Sining responded with a cold laugh, glancing disdainfully at the items in front of the young vendor’s stall, ”Your stall’s junk isn’t worth taking even if you gave it away!”

The young vendor didn’t understand the subtext of Huo Sining’s words, thinking instead that Huo Sining was scared, which made him even more triumphant, ”What’s the matter, scared now? If you don’t have the money, then don’t waste our time here. Get lost!”

Huo Sining looked coldly at the young vendor, then turned to the elder, ”Elder, I only have a total of fifty thousand, and I still need to keep twenty thousand for other uses. If you’re willing to sell it to me for thirty thousand, I’ll make the deal with you right now!”

The young vendor laughed even harder when he heard Huo Sining’s proposition, as if hearing a hilarious joke, ”Elder Huang, if it’s thirty thousand, then it’s thirty thousand. I don’t believe she can come up with the money!”

Elder Huang, upon hearing that Huo Sining could only offer thirty thousand, felt immediately disappointed.

Previously, someone else had shown interest in his set of porcelain bowls, and after some hard bargaining, that person had agreed to pay forty thousand, but said they needed to withdraw the money. Elder Huang had waited here for two hours, but hadn’t seen the person return, which likely meant the deal had fallen through.

The elder felt somewhat let down, but even a little profit was still profit; he could earn a decent amount from thirty thousand.

Mr. Huang’s eyes narrowed, as if contemplating, and finally, he gritted his teeth and decided,

”Alright, since you like it so much, today I’ll make an exception. I’ll sell you this set of porcelain bowls at a loss. When you have time in the future, come by my place to do business again. I’ll be sure to reserve the good stuff for you!”

The elder genuinely didn’t think Huo Sining was lying, so he made his offer very seriously, even feigning a pained expression, claiming it was a loss-making sale. Huo Sining couldn’t help but twitch the corner of her mouth when she heard it.

The young vendor crossed his arms and watched with a cold eye, seemingly convinced that Huo Sining wouldn’t be able to produce the money.
