Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 249: Chapter 246: Kiss Me Chapter 249: Chapter 246: Kiss Me As soon as Huo Sining said this, several people were stunned.

“Haha, Ningning, didn’t you give all your Freshwater Pearls to my brother? How come you still have more? A twenty-centimeter Eastern Pearl is not small at all. I love this stake, and I must win!”

When Su Qingqing heard Huo Sining mention a twenty-centimeter Freshwater Pearl, she became excited. Even Su Jinyuan looked at Huo Sining with surprise, as he had not expected her to still have some treasures hidden after giving him three Great Eastern Pearls.

“Forget about it, this time it’s definitely my win—the Small Colorless Glass-Type Jadeite is mine!”

Bai Yishan was not to be outdone. Knowing that Huo Sining had good jadeite, her eyes lit up at the mention of the Little Colorless.

Ouyang Jun, however, couldn’t help but chuckle: “The contest hasn’t even started and you’re already fighting over the stakes. Fine, today, I will give you all a good competition. These stakes are no fun at all, I just want Miss Huo’s pair of angelfish, and later, none of you should compete with me for them!”

Seeing so many people scramble, Zheng Huaqing was somewhat astonished and couldn’t help but look up at Huo Sining, a flash of undefined meaning in her eyes.

Huo Sining smiled and shook her head, about to say something, when suddenly, a gust of wind blew by, causing the boat to sway. Those standing on the deck immediately lost their balance and started falling to one side.

“Be careful!”

Just as Huo Sining was about to fall over the railing, Gu Xu instinctively rushed forward, extending his arms and embracing her into his chest.

Huo Sining felt her body completely out of her control, as if she was about to fall into the sea, when a pair of arms firmly captured her, and she nestled against Gu Xu’s sturdy chest like a little bird.

Thump… thump… thump…

With her ear pressed against Gu Xu’s chest, Huo Sining seemed to hear his steady and strong heartbeat.

Finally, the boat stopped swaying and everyone came back to their senses. When they turned their heads, they saw this strange scene before them.

Gu Xu’s arms encircled Huo Sining’s waist, making it look from the side like he was pressing her firmly into his embrace.

Everyone: “…”

Huo Sining steadied herself, and, realizing she was still in Gu Xu’s arms, she felt both embarrassed and awkward. Instinctively, she lifted her head to push him away, but as she tilted her head slightly, her forehead brushed against Gu Xu’s lips.

The warmth of their skin touching, Huo Sining could even feel the heat of Gu Xu’s breath on her forehead, making her involuntarily shiver.

Uh…

This soft sensation brought Huo Sining’s thoughts back to the night she first met Gu Xu in her previous life—that intoxicating kiss filled with desire, and the scent unique to his body.

Even though it was just a brief contact between forehead and lip, it left Huo Sining momentarily dazed, stirring an indescribable romantic sentiment deep in her heart.

“Ningning, are you okay?”

The atmosphere was indescribably intimate, but at that moment, someone broke the precious mood.

Clueless to the heightened tension, the blundering Su Qingqing blurted out.

Huo Sining’s body stiffened instantly, realizing it was not the time to be lost in thought.

Wrong time, wrong place, wrong person. Huo Sining’s momentary daydream was abruptly pulled back by Su Qingqing’s interruption, and she quickly regained her composure.

She couldn’t afford to ponder over whether Gu Xu’s lips had an intoxicating taste any longer. With a push, she thrust Gu Xu away, taking several steps back.

His arms suddenly empty, Gu Xu felt a sense of loss. The feeling of holding his own wife in his arms was truly—fantastic! Pity that the moment was too brief, and he didn’t even get to savor it.

The warmth of the other person’s lips still lingered on her forehead, but Huo Sining’s rationality had returned.

Huo Sining subconsciously looked towards Gu Xu, their eyes meeting. Gu Xu’s eyes were exceptionally clear in the morning light, and Huo Sining felt as if she could hear the sound of her heart beating like a drum.

Huo Sining felt embarrassed; heat rushed to her face, and even the back of her ears turned red.

Ouyang Jun and the others standing nearby all had a glint in their eyes, with a look that screamed they were eager for gossip and ready to enjoy the show.

If there were a block of tofu in front of Huo Sining right now, she would definitely not hesitate to smash her head into it.

Could this get any more humiliating?

She was kissed by Gu Xu in front of so many people?

Even if a kiss on the forehead wasn’t a big deal, couldn’t you people at least show some discretion? What’s with those half-smiling, ambiguously weird expressions?

“Are you okay?”

Gu Xu, having taken advantage, seemed to have no particular expression on his face as he earnestly looked at Huo Sining and asked.

Huo Sining shook her head, “I’m fine.”

How could she be fine? She was at a loss, taken advantage of, and worse yet, she could only swallow the bitter pill in silence—because the kiss was one she had initiated herself.

“Ahem, so, is the competition going to continue?”

Ouyang Jun, watching Gu Xu and Huo Sining, cleared his throat twice before he continued to ask.

Although Ouyang Jun didn’t laugh out loud, Huo Sining felt sure he was laughing on the inside.

She couldn’t help but turn around and glare at Ouyang Jun, feeling a surge of frustration.

Was this guy mistaken? Wasn’t it agreed that he would set up Gu Xu with Su Qingqing? Why was the mess now on her? Wasn’t he afraid that Su Qingqing would get angry and his role as matchmaker would be ruined?

It was only an accident just now, but Huo Sining couldn’t stop the turmoil in her heart, feeling as though she had done something wrong by Su Qingqing.

With that thought, she felt a burst of guilt and subconsciously glanced towards Su Qingqing.

Su Qingqing looked calm and seemed perfectly normal, and Huo Sining silently breathed a sigh of relief.

Luckily, Su Qingqing was not the type to overthink, despite finding the recent incident somewhat strange.

Uh…

She couldn’t help but silently chide herself. What are you awkward about? Being kissed by Gu Xu, a genuinely high-quality and handsome guy—you’re probably pleased about it deep down, aren’t you? When it comes down to it, you haven’t really lost out.

With that thought, Huo Sining steeled her heart and adopted a more reckless attitude. So what if these people saw? After all, there was nothing between her and Gu Xu. What did she have to be embarrassed about?

“Why not continue? With such generous losses you all conceded, aren’t you just trying to let us win?” Huo Sining immediately threw a metaphorical dagger with her eyes at Ouyang Jun.

Ouyang Jun, aware that he was the target of Huo Sining’s displaced anger, wasn’t annoyed but simply raised an eyebrow and smiled:

“Alright then, but it remains to be seen if you have the skills for it. I admit Huo Sining’s fish-raising ability is not bad, but fishing and fish-raising are two different things!”
