Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 201: Chapter 198: The Coveting of the Scam Artist Chapter 201: Chapter 198: The Coveting of the Scam Artist Although Su Qingqing was a scion of a hereditary family, she lived frugally under the strict control of Huang Hongying and never squandered money.

But no matter how frugal she was, she was after all the daughter of a distinguished family. Her attire naturally ranked several grades higher than that of Ye Zixin, a girl of humble origin.

Not to mention anything else, just the jadeite bracelet on Su Qingqing’s right wrist was enough to dazzle the eyes of two porcelain bumpers.

Su Qingqing owned a set of eggshell jade jewelry, which included six pieces in total: a pair of bracelets, a pair of earrings, a necklace, and a ring. The whole set was worth at least seven or eight hundred thousand and was a coming-of-age gift from Su Jinyuan when she turned eighteen.

She had only worn this set a few times. Once Ye Zixin saw it and greedily asked for it, but Su Qingqing rejected her without hesitation.

Unfortunately for Su Qingqing, after attending the Pingzhou Public Plate, she, who originally had no interest in jadeite, suddenly realized that jadeite was quite beautiful.

So after returning to S City, Su Qingqing dug out the jadeite jewelry, which had been left gathering dust in a corner, and wore one of the full green eggshell jade bracelets on her wrist.

She never expected that this single bracelet would catch the attention of two porcelain bumpers.

Porcelain bumpers had no sense of morality, they didn’t care whether you actually broke their porcelain or not. Upon hearing from Ye Zixin that she was with Su Qingqing, and that the jadeite bracelet Su Qingqing wore was valuable, the two porcelain bumpers immediately became greedy.

The female porcelain bumper who was crying on the ground suddenly stood up, rushed to Su Qingqing, grabbed her sleeve, and began to clamor insistently.

“Well, well, it turns out you were the one who pushed me! Since the two of you are together, then it’s just perfect. Everyone saw what happened today. My porcelain was a Kangxi-era blue and white Fengwei Zun, and you two clods have smashed it! No one is leaving today until you compenstate me for this treasure!”

Huo Sining certainly didn’t miss the look in the female porcelain bumper’s eyes; seeing her gaze greedily upon the jade bracelet on Su Qingqing’s wrist, he instantly understood.

Su Qingqing, however, sneered with a composed face, “I didn’t smash the porcelain, find whoever bumped it. Besides, since it’s already shattered, do you just claim it to be a Kangxi-era blue and white Fengwei Zun? True or false, it’s just your word. With mere speculations, how do you expect others to compensate?”

Seeing the two porcelain bumpers indeed shift their target onto Su Qingqing, Ye Zixin felt a surge of joy inside.

Although things didn’t go as planned, the outcome she wanted was the same. If Su Qingqing fell into the porcelain bumpers’ trap, it wouldn’t be something that could be settled with just three or five hundred dollars.

The value of a blue and white Fengwei Zun was at least three to five hundred thousand. Ye Zixin was exhilarated by her successful scheme, yet in her heart, she cursed Su Qingqing for being such an idiot. Normally, people would flee from such situations, but Su Qingqing didn’t immediately distance herself. Instead, she even engaged with the porcelain bumpers, utterly beyond help!

The porcelain bumper, seeing Su Qingqing playing right into their hands, felt a surge of excitement. He thought he would have to take a loss this time, but unexpectedly, there was a light at the end of the tunnel:

“It’s a family heirloom, of course, it’s real. As for the compensation? This item has been smashed by you, unless you can buy an identical one. Otherwise, how else can it be compensated? Naturally, with money! You’re with this woman, so since she can’t afford it, of course, it’s up to you to pay!”

Su Qingqing was about to be amused to death by the robbers’ logic of the two porcelain bumpers, “Just because she says she’s my best friend, that confirms it? So, if I randomly point someone out in the crowd and say that person is my relative, you’re going to say that person is with me too and drag them along to compensate for your stuff?”

Su Qingqing remained unmoved, but Ye Zixin tightened up when she heard those words, terrified that Su Qingqing would kick the mess back onto her plate. With a quick turn of her eyes, she hastily exclaimed:

“`

“Qingqing, I know you’re mad at me, but that doesn’t mean you should deny our friendship, our sisterhood. Sure, this Fengwei Zun is expensive, but we grew up together, and all these years of friendship can’t be worth less than a piece of broken porcelain, right?”

Swindlers are always driven by money, never by any so-called principles.

Seeing that the deal was almost done, how could they possibly let Su Qingqing get away easily?

“I don’t give a damn whether you’re besties or not, but you must compensate for my porcelain today!”

The female scammer didn’t bother with the details and grabbed Su Qingqing’s right wrist, revealing a sparkling jadeite bracelet.

“No money? Then leave your bracelet here!”

It was then that Su Qingqing realized that the scammers were after the jadeite bracelet on her wrist, and anger welled up in her eyes.

Ye Zixin hadn’t expected the scammers to be so brazen. When she saw the ‘eggshell jade’ bracelet on Su Qingqing’s wrist, her face stiffened momentarily, before a subtle smile crept up in her eyes.

“How could that be? This is ‘eggshell’ jadeite, worth hundreds of thousands. Your so-called Fengwei Zun, no matter how valuable, can’t compare to Qingqing’s high-grade jadeite bracelet!”

Ye Zixin seemed to be speaking urgently, but inadvertently revealed more about the origin of the bracelet on Su Qingqing’s wrist.

Aren’t you extremely proud of your jewelry set? Let’s see how proud and boastful you can be if the bracelet is taken from you.

Ye Zixin was gleefully satisfied deep down; she couldn’t wait for the scammers to snatch the bracelet from Su Qingqing’s wrist and take off.

Upon hearing the mention of ‘eggshell jade,’ the scammers’ eyes grew even greedier.

Su Qingqing didn’t miss the schadenfreude flickering in Ye Zixin’s eyes, and she looked at her coldly, her eyes almost spitting fire.

Huo Sining, however, looked at Ye Zixin with a mockingly amused gaze, watching the scammers calmly, and asked, “How much is a genuine Kangxi era blue and white Fengwei Zun actually worth?”

Huo Sining was asking about the value of the genuine article, while the scammers thought he was inquiring about the compensation. After misunderstanding his question, the scammers looked at each other and one replied, “Anything from the Kangxi period is naturally valuable. A blue and white Fengwei Zun is a rare treasure; even the Forbidden City Museum has only one. What do you think its value is?”

Huo Sining didn’t reply but turned to Su Qingqing, “You’ve been with Professor Xie for so long, you should be able to tell if this thing is real or fake, right?”

Su Qingqing nodded, and Huo Sining picked up a piece of broken porcelain from the ground and passed it to her. After a few glances, Su Qingqing blurted out:

“This is fake. The porcelain from the Kangxi period has a notably different clay body compared to today’s porcelain. The Fengwei Zun, named for its flared mouth that resembles phoenix tails, was often used for display and worship, so its base would have lingering yellow stains from long-term exposure to incense smoke, but the base of this Zun is clean, as though it’s just come out of the kiln.”
