Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 218: Chapter 215: Even Homemade Guns Have Their Elites Chapter 218: Chapter 215: Even Homemade Guns Have Their Elites Dongyang had specialized institutions for koi research; these people included full-time researchers from the Aquaculture Science Association and the Dongyang Koi Corporation, whose research facilities and funding far exceeded international standards.

The koi from Dongyang were indeed leaders in the industry, which was precisely why they were so full of themselves.

But Huo Sining didn’t think that the local koi were without their advantages.

The genes of Japanese koi had become very mixed after numerous instances of crossbreeding, making them very frail and difficult to keep alive.

On the other hand, the local koi had always been in a natural growth equilibrium, making them much more robust compared to their Japanese counterparts.

Of course, the local koi also had their disadvantages, such as not having colors as bright or patterns as distinct as the Japanese koi, all of which were shortcomings of the local breed.

Of course, Huo Sining wasn’t worried about this issue, because she knew best how she got these few koi in her possession.

With the Water-Repelling Pearl as a cheating device, she could solve these problems easily. No matter how mixed the bloodline of the fish species, after being refined by Spiritual Energy, they would become purebred, and the most eye-catching parts of the fish genes would be stimulated, just like the previous German Red Pine and the koi she currently had in her hands, which were products of Spiritual Energy.

The exhibition was going to last for nearly six hours, and Huo Sining wasn’t in a hurry; after looking around at other booths, she roughly had a clear idea.

Although her red-and-white koi couldn’t outdo the Flower Carving Short Snappers raised by Qin Shaoyou, obtaining the runner-up prize was still not a problem.

Over there, Zhou Zhen also brought the person from Dongyang to Huo Sining’s booth and saw the two red-and-white koi in the large tank.

Huo Sining didn’t know that the person Zhou Zhen had brought was none other than Hattori Masano, the vice president of the Dongyang Koi Corporation.

The Dongyang Koi Corporation had been researching koi for decades and was the largest Dongyang koi supplier inside the country.

As the vice president, Hattori Masano would come to the country every year to hold various ornamental fish appreciation and exchange meetings, and he also enjoyed hunting for unusual ornamental fish.

In theory, there shouldn’t be any business dealings between him and the Zhou Family, but Hattori Masano’s sister happened to own a very large luxury goods company in Dongyang, with a jewelry subsidiary managing the island country’s most prestigious high-end consumer brand.

These days, the Zhou Family in S City was suffering pressure and exclusion from the Su Group’s Donghua and had internal interference from Zhou Yan, facing attacks from both sides. Eventually, Father Zhou and Zhou Zhen came to realize the crisis and began to find ways to change the status quo, turning their attention to the development of overseas markets.

It just so happened that Father Zhou had met Hattori Masano, who was inspecting the country, at a business dinner not long ago. The two hit it off after chatting casually and gradually became acquainted.

Father Zhou wanted to broaden the international market and naturally needed to find connections, so the first person he thought of was Hattori Masano’s sister, hence he came up with the method of ingratiating himself with Hattori Masano and then having him help make connections.

Zhou Zhen, a pampered young master, was not the kind to do such a thing, but he had a strategist behind him, Ye Zixin.

Ye Zixin, though seemingly gentle and weak, truly had quite a few tricks up her sleeve. As soon as she heard that Hattori Masano was a koi researcher, she immediately came up with a plan for Zhou Zhen: take him to the ornamental fish appraisal convention in S City.

This strategy of playing to his interests was indeed brilliant. As soon as Hattori Masano heard there was an ornamental fish appraisal in S City, he became exceedingly happy and immediately agreed to come to Qingping Mountain with Zhou Zhen.

After evaluating each one, Zhou Zhen and Hattori Masano finally arrived in front of those two red and white koi.

“This!” Hattori Masano stood up straight, almost unsteady on his feet, staring intently at the two red and white koi as if he had seen a ghost, his lips trembling and unable to speak.

He gazed in silence, with a solemn expression, and no longer had the arrogance and contempt he had shown earlier.

As a senior researcher for the Koi Corporation, Hattori Masano recognized at a glance that the two red and white koi in Huo Sining’s large tub were not Dongyang koi. However, it was precisely because these were not Japanese koi that he was even more shocked.

Hattori Masano had been to Huaxia Country countless times and had also seen the local koi of Huaxia Country.

The local koi of Huaxia Country have small heads and large bodies, are short and wide in shape, and have mixed and shallow colors, with unclear segmentation. Both their shape and coloration are markedly different from Dongyang koi.

However, the koi in this large tub did not have these flaws. These two koi were slender in shape, with not-so-small heads, and very vibrant colors. Most importantly, the crimson within the white was above the eye area, with even and clear segmentation, truly deserving the praise of “equal to red and white, ultimately red and white.”

Hattori Masano’s gaze was immediately captivated by these two koi.

Although the Koi Corporation always claimed that Dongyang koi were the orthodox breed, every researcher in the corporation knew in their hearts.

Dongyang’s research on koi was indeed very fruitful, but after these years of mutations, the bloodlines had long changed.

It was indisputable that koi originated from Huaxia, it’s just that they were able to downplay the origins of Huaxia Country, always emphasizing that they rose in Dongyang, making many forget about the true genetic heritage of the koi.

Over the years, they had also smuggled many local wild koi from Huaxia Country back to Dongyang for research, attempting to reshape the orthodox koi genes on the basis of the red and white koi’s own color and shape, but the results were not ideal.

Seeing these two red and white koi, Hattori Masano instantly felt alive inside.

Not for any other reason, but because he had realized that these two koi were the genuine orthodox red and white koi, far more noble than the Dongyang koi he boasted of by who knows how many folds.

Regaining his composure from the shock, Hattori Masano suddenly became restless. He looked around anxiously at the crowd of onlookers, feeling anxious and nervous, afraid of showing any signs. Yet his eyes were fixed on the two koi, wishing he could embrace them and take them away right then and there.

“Zhou, didn’t you say that the fish participating in the fish fighting tournament here are all for sale?” Hattori Masano suppressed the turmoil in his heart and tentatively asked.

In fact, Zhou Zhen had little interest in ornamental fish. If it were not for securing a cooperative project with Hattori Masano’s sister’s company, he would not have stooped so low as to accompany a Dongyang ‘ghost’.

So when he heard Hattori Masano’s question, Zhou Zhen was somewhat indifferent. He hadn’t noticed Hattori Masano’s nervous and excited mood, and thinking that Hattori Masano was interested in those two koi, he nodded:

“This is what the exhibition staff said. As long as the price is right and both parties are willing, a transaction can take place.”
