Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 224: Chapter 221 The Person Gu Xu Likes Chapter 224: Chapter 221 The Person Gu Xu Likes Huo Sining was somewhat surprised to hear this. What did that mean? Did Gu Xu have someone he liked? But hadn’t Ouyang Jun said he was still single? Was he interested in Bai Yishan?

Feeling puzzled, Huo Sining couldn’t help but lift her head to look at Gu Xu.

Gu Xu’s gaze was straightforward and did not seem to be joking.

“Mr. Gu already has a girlfriend?!”

Huo Sining glanced at Bai Yishan awkwardly and felt a bit embarrassed. She had been thinking about match-making for Bai Yishan, but before it had even begun, it had already fallen through.

Gu Xu hummed softly and continued cutting his steak slowly. Suddenly, he looked up and smiled at Huo Sining, “That’s not the case, but I do have someone in mind.”

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining gave up the idea of playing matchmaker, feeling a sense of loss and bitterness in her heart.

Although she did not want to admit it, at the moment she heard that Gu Xu had someone, her heart twitched slightly, leaving her feeling indescribably desolate and uncomfortable.

Huo Sining lowered her head and battled with the steak on her plate, while Bai Yishan was becoming a bit restless.

The implications of Gu Xu’s words were obvious, even to an outsider like her. Why couldn’t Huo Sining’s clever mind figure it out?

In fact, Huo Sining could not be blamed. In her previous life, her encounter with Gu Xu had not been pleasant, and after her rebirth, when she learned of Gu Xu’s identity, she felt even more that the two of them were worlds apart, whether in age or status.

So even though Gu Xu’s hints were quite clear, Huo Sining never let her thoughts wander because she had never considered that she would be the one Gu Xu liked.

Huo Sining was lost in the situation, but Bai Yishan couldn’t stand the dawdling between the two and couldn’t help but interject teasingly,

“Mr. Gu already has someone in mind? I heard about your deeds overseas and the newspapers even said you’re a Gold bachelor. I didn’t expect you to already have someone special. Now, I don’t know how many young ladies’ hearts will be broken.”

Gu Xu’s expression didn’t change much: “What outsiders see is just a glamorous facade. In truth, I’m just an ordinary guy who served in the military until my retirement a couple of years ago when I took over the family business. I’m merely blessed by my ancestors.”

Bai Yishan nodded, glanced at Huo Sining, who was hanging her head, winked at Gu Xu, hooked her lips up in a smile, and turned to the next topic,

“Whoever Mr. Gu likes must be enviable. I guess the person who stole Mr. Gu’s heart must have saved the Milky Way in her past life. I am a bit curious, what kind of girl does Mr. Gu like? She must be outstanding, right?”

Gu Xu was stunned for a moment but quickly realized the implication in Bai Yishan’s words. His gaze deeply settled on Huo Sining, “I don’t know if she saved the Milky Way or not, but I guess I must owe her from the last life. This life is probably for repaying a debt and atoning for sins. Plus, you got one thing wrong. I’m an ordinary person, so the person I like is also rather ordinary; it is because I like her that she becomes special in my eyes.”

As he spoke those words, Gu Xu’s eyes were fixed firmly on Huo Sining, and softness seemed to brim over in his gaze.

Witnessing that look, Bai Yishan felt a surge of frustration. Suddenly she felt her little heart couldn’t take it anymore.

Holy shit, the legendary iceberg company president was actually performing a deep, passionate confession in front of her, and the words he said were so cheesy! Was this Young President of Shengtang posing as someone else?

Even as a bystander, Bai Yishan was finding it hard to take. She thought to herself, Huo Sining, that blockhead, ought to have a clue by now, right?

She abruptly turned back and saw Huo Sining’s thoughtful face, even carrying a hint of disbelief in her eyes.

Bai Yishan was puzzled, wondering what this was all about. What corner had this little girl painted herself into now?

Indeed, just as Bai Yishan’s thought crossed her mind, Huo Sining, though hesitant, mustered the courage to speak up at last.

“Mr. Gu, from what you’ve just said, it seems the girl you like is quite young?”

Gu Xu nodded, looking at Huo Sining with anticipation and encouragement, thinking to himself, I’ve made it so clear, you couldn’t possibly still not understand, right?

But Huo Sining was dumbfounded. The words Ouyang Jun had said to her at the recent Douyu conference flashed through her mind, bringing a wave of embarrassment and irritation. She really had been utterly ruined by that guy Ouyang Jun this time.

She knew that Sister Yishan and her cousin Su Jinyuan’s relationship was somewhat ambiguous at the moment, yet she still brought Bai Yishan to introduce her to Gu Xu, which was already quite unkind.

Never did she expect that Gu Xu’s heart wasn’t on Bai Yishan at all, and he had clearly expressed that he had someone he liked. Wasn’t that a straightforward rejection?

Huo Sining felt utterly embarrassed, her whole being uncomfortable, and she didn’t dare to look at Bai Yishan anymore, fearing that Bai Yishan would blame her for interfering after learning the real intention behind this dinner invitation.

Huo Sining hung her head, but her mind was racing.

Connecting the dots with the preceding events and the comments from Ouyang Jun and Gu Xu, she quickly deduced a conclusion.

This whole matter was likely a mix-up she and Ouyang Jun had caused. The person Gu Xu liked was not Bai Yishan, but the one under twenty years old—

Su Qingqing!

This guess might sound a bit far-fetched, but as Huo Sining meticulously analyzed it, the more she reflected, the more she felt certain she was right.

Although Su Qingqing seemed a bit silly, Gu Xu, being a man of high status who had seen many complex people and events, might just prefer a simple and pure girl like Su Qingqing. And with the social status of the Su Family, Su Qingqing’s background was indeed a fitting match for Gu Xu.

Huo Sining had mixed feelings as she finally spoke,

“Mr. Gu, if you want to pursue Qingqing, there’s absolutely no need to go through the trouble of winning me over first. Qingqing has been pampered and favored since childhood, but she is simple-minded and sensitive. She knows very well who is kind to her. If you truly like her, then take the time to understand her. Once you know what she likes, you’ll understand what to do.”

After Huo Sining said her piece, Gu Xu felt like his brain couldn’t quite process it all.

Hadn’t he made himself clear enough? When had he ever said he liked someone like Su Qingqing?

Bai Yishan was also taken aback. The speech Huo Sining had just delivered made her see the young girl before her in a new light.

She really wanted to crack open Huo Sining’s head to see if the girl’s thought processes were different from everybody else’s.

An ambiguous smile on her face, Bai Yishan glanced at Gu Xu and sneakily gestured good luck.

A flock of black crows seemed to fly before Gu Xu’s eyes. He felt a pang of pain in his chest, as if suffering from angina, and his face suddenly darkened.
