Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 220: Chapter 217: If You Can’t Have It, Destroy It Chapter 220: Chapter 217: If You Can’t Have It, Destroy It “`

Must it be so exaggerated to call it a priceless treasure? She just fed a few koi with Spiritual Energy; she hadn’t expected to cause such a commotion!

Besides, how was she supposed to explain when those researchers arrived? If they asked how she managed to raise these koi, she couldn’t explain a single thing.

Huo Sining couldn’t find the situation funny; her heart was thumping wildly, and it felt like it had leapt into her throat.

Perhaps noticing Huo Sining’s nervousness, Qin Shaoyou reassured her with a smile, “Don’t be nervous, even if they come, they’ll only be interested in your fish. They won’t delve too deep without special circumstances.”

Huo Sining nodded and let out a slight sigh of relief.

She understood and supported the research institute’s projects; she was even willing to give the two koi to the institute for free. But if this matter brought unnecessary trouble and covetousness, then it would truly be more trouble than it was worth.

Because she knew very well that none of the matters concerning her could withstand investigation and scrutiny. Once discovered, the secrets she bore could no longer be safeguarded.

Hattori Masano stood there, lost in thought, his gaze fixed on the tank holding the two koi, seething with annoyance.

Without those two koi, his promotion plan would fall through, and his dream of becoming a hero in Dongyang would become unattainable!

All because of that man who ruined his plans!

If Mr. Fujiwara hadn’t pointed out the issue with the koi, everyone would have been none the wiser, and the koi would have ended up in his possession!

Hattori Masano was filled with frustration yet powerless; suddenly, a thought flickered through his mind, stirring a notion.

If those two koi ended up in the hands of Huaxia researchers, it wouldn’t take long for them to breed new pure red and white koi. This would significantly impact the international status and sales of Japanese koi, surely dealing a considerable blow to the corporation!

With that in mind, he absolutely couldn’t let these Huaxia dogs get their way! If he couldn’t have those fish, then they should be destroyed!

Hattori Masano reached into his front pocket, where a pack of cigarettes lay, two of which were laced with poison.

He took out those two cigarettes and crushed them into tobacco powder in his hand.

Huaxia Koi are omnivorous; they eat anything. Even people can’t resist the lure of drugged cigarettes, so poisoning two koi would be very simple.

Hattori Masano’s eyes sparkled with darkness and resentment. While no one was paying attention, he stealthily moved to the front of the exhibition hall, right next to the tank containing the two red and white koi.

At that moment, almost all the people were listening to the experts’ comments at the front, and not many were mindful of the situation in the rear of the exhibition hall.

Feigning a desperate search for the restroom, Hattori Masano surreptitiously sprinkled the tobacco powder into the tank as he brushed past it.

The two fish noticed the disturbance and swam over. Hattori Masano felt a thrill of satisfaction and was about to hastily leave when, suddenly, a hand reached out from behind him and effortlessly grasped his collar.

Hattori Masano stiffened, his heart sinking as he realized something was amiss. Without bothering to check who was behind him, he struggled to break free from their grasp.

However, the hand behind him was like an impenetrable wall; merely grasping his collar, he found himself completely immobilized.

Before Hattori Masano had time to react, the person behind gave a strong tug, and Hattori Masano was propelled in the opposite direction, flying out to land with a thud in front of everyone in the lobby.

The incident happened so suddenly that everyone was caught off guard. A loud crash was heard, and when they turned around, they saw Hattori Masano’s body collapsing onto the floor of the front hall. His corpulent and bloated body curled up as he writhed in pain.

Gu Xu walked to the large jar with an indifferent expression, quickly scooped up the tobacco shreds on the water’s surface, and pointed at the two koi with a smile as cold as Lord Yama’s, “Sir, fish don’t smoke!”

Huo Sining was also stunned. Hearing Gu Xu’s words, her eyes fell on the tobacco shreds in Gu Xu’s hand, and soon she came back to her senses.

Meanwhile, Tian Yuan and Qin Shaoyou were also coming to a realization of what had occurred and their faces darkened. Looking at Hattori Masano with an ashen complexion, they asked through clenched teeth, “Who are you? Why did you do this?!”

Knowing he had been exposed, Hattori Masano dared not admit it, and could only offer a dishonest explanation, “I’m sorry, I didn’t do it on purpose. The cigarette must have fallen in by accident!”

“Accident?!” Gu Xu scoffed, finding the excuse far-fetched, “If it was an accident, then, sir, can you explain why what fell into the jar was a clump of tobacco shreds rather than an intact cigarette?”

Qin Shaoyou’s brows furrowed even more. He had noticed something odd about Hattori Masano’s accent, “Are you from Dongyang?!”

The others hadn’t yet grasped the severity of the situation until Fujiwara Seiho walked down from the chairman’s podium and, upon seeing Hattori Masano, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, “You must be Mr. Hattori Masano, the vice president of Koi Corporation?”

Hattori Masano’s face turned pale in an instant. As Fujiwara Seiho spoke, the crowd’s gaze swept over him like blades, ready to rush up and give him a beating at any moment.

“No wonder he was throwing tobacco into the fish tank, turns out he’s from the corporation. He definitely wanted to harm those koi!”

“This is pure jealousy! The Dongyang people have dominated the koi market for years, they must be afraid of losing the limelight to us!”

“This man is too malicious and shameless! We simply cannot let this go!”

“…”

Zhou Zhen felt the pressure from his compatriots all around him as anger swelled in their eyes, and he began to perspire profusely.

He regretted it to death. This man was brought by him, and if a to blame, he certainly couldn’t escape responsibility. Had he known that Hattori Masano would cause him such trouble, he never would have brought him; now he felt like he’d gone to catch a cat but not only missed the fish but got stinky for his trouble.

Huo Sining, on the other hand, felt rather embarrassed. Everyone was cursing the Dongyang people without even remembering that Fujiwara Seiho, who first brought up the secret of her pure red-and-white koi, was from Dongyang, and moreover, he was the owner of Qingping Pavilion.

Thinking of this, Huo Sining quickly looked up at Fujiwara Seiho, but saw only a shy smile on his face.

This made Huo Sining pause, feeling somewhat surprised.

If she were in his shoes, Huo Sining thought, if so many foreigners insulted her compatriots and country in front of her, she would definitely be filled with righteous indignation and might even lose her composure and retort.

Yet Fujiwara Seiho, hearing the insults of those people, had no reaction at all, as if he didn’t take the slurs of those around him to heart.

This was too strange.

Was it that this man’s state of mind and scheming were so advanced that such insults couldn’t rile him up, or was it that he was too cold-blooded and had very little affection for his home country?

Huo Sining was left wondering. Whether it was the former or the latter, it made her feel that this Fujiwara Seiho was not a simple person.
