Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 221: Chapter 218 Pleading Chapter 221: Chapter 218 Pleading The researchers from the institute acted quickly, taking just an hour from receiving the news to arrive at Qingping Mountain.

Because the situation was urgent, Gan Lijun personally drove over to the conference, Qin Shaoyou and Tian Yuan went out to receive the guests, and soon the research personnel had come up with a plan. They would transport the koi back to the institute for blood sample testing and then, after the results were in, convene a meeting to discuss further matters.

Huo Sining obviously had no objection; she couldn’t wait to rid herself of that hot potato.

Qin Shaoyou had a good memory and hadn’t forgotten that Huo Sining still had four koi in her possession, but seeing that the researchers didn’t ask, he kept his mouth shut.

If he had been the one who raised those fish, he probably wouldn’t have been as magnanimous as Huo Sining. Anyway, having two fish as samples in the lab was already enough, so he didn’t become the bad guy.

It was only after the koi, along with their tanks, were taken away that everyone began to realize that at this stage, no one cared anymore about who ended up with the Fish King. The conversation had shifted to the day’s events concerning the purebred red and white koi.

Compared to the hollow title of Fish King, matters that could change the Huaxia ornamental fish market were naturally more significant. Many of the fish enthusiasts who came to this fish fighting conference had excited expressions on their faces, their eyes sparkling with excitement.

Having witnessed the return of the two purebred koi firsthand, it was possible that all the local red and white koi they saw in the market in the future would be the descendants of these two fish. Moreover, they would relish telling others about the troubled fate of these two progenitors of koi. Just the thought of it was enough to make their blood boil and they could hardly contain their excitement.

Huo Sining’s feelings were more complex than the rest. After all, she had dedicated herself to raising these two koi for nearly five months. Now that she was giving them away, she truly felt some reluctance.

But she was also very clear that apart from selling them, these two fish had no other use in her hands. They would reach their greatest potential at the research institute.

Gu Xu glanced coolly at Hattori Masano, who was slumped on the ground, a hint of coldness flashing in his eyes, before he approached Huo Sining and asked, “What do you want to do with this man?”

Huo Sining frowned; she really hadn’t encountered such a situation before and had no idea how to handle it.

“Just send him to the police station, that’s enough,” Ouyang Jun said, his temper flaring. “Those two koi are so precious that even if the embassy comes looking, they won’t be able to do anything. When the time comes, a charge of poisoning or intentional harm will be enough to give this guy a hard time!”

Ouyang Jun was connected and had a fiery temper. If Hattori Masano really ended up in police custody, he was likely in for some big trouble.

Meanwhile, Fujiwara Seiho had been silent. Upon hearing Ouyang Jun’s words, a gleam flashed in his eyes as he suddenly stepped forward and said,

“Miss Huo, although this man has made a mistake, Mr. Seiho discovered it in time, and no serious harm was done. Since he is my countryman, I’ll take the liberty of asking a favor of you. May I presume to request that he be handed over to me for handling?”

Huo Sining wasn’t surprised that Fujiwara Seiho knew her. As the owner of Qingping Pavilion, he would surely be aware of all the participants in the fish fighting conference, so it was normal for him to know her name.

But Fujiwara Seiho’s behavior was quite strange; he showed no anger when others were cursing the people of Dongyang, and yet now, he was asking for mercy on behalf of Hattori Masano.

Huo Sining was somewhat baffled. If his shy and hypocritical facade was meant to deceive others, he could have stayed out of the matter completely. So why would he ask for mercy for Hattori Masano?

No matter how you looked at it, the trouble caused by the Dongyang people had subsided. Huo Sining didn’t think that she would have any further dealings with Fujiwara Seiho, so whether he got hurt because of this was none of her concern. Since Fujiwara Seiho was willing to take over the matter of Hattori Masano, Huo Sining couldn’t have wished for more.

As for how Fujiwara Seiho would deal with Hattori Masano afterwards, whether he would let him off easily, give him a small punishment, or deal with him seriously, Huo Sining didn’t care at all; it was a gesture of goodwill to Fujiwara.

No matter how you looked at it, the biggest winner of the fish fighting championship was undoubtedly Huo Sining. She believed that once tomorrow’s news came out, the Xianyu Shop would undoubtedly become the object of pursuit for countless ornamental fish enthusiasts.

“Thank you!” After dealing with the aftermath, Huo Sining finally had time to thank Gu Xu.

If it hadn’t been for his keen observation that something was off with that Hattori Masano, it is possible he would have succeeded.

Although the death of the two koi was no big loss for Huo Sining, no one wanted to endure such unmerited misfortune. If those two koi had actually been poisoned to death, it wouldn’t have just affected her, but the reputation of the fish fighting championship would likely have suffered too.

A smile appeared on Gu Xu’s lips, and suddenly he remembered the flirting tips his secretary had given him before, one of the most important being to take the initiative. With a thought, he coughed and asked, “Ahem… are you free tomorrow?”

Huo Sining was startled, “Ah?”

“I’m very sorry about what happened at the airport last time, and I’ve been wanting to formally invite you to dine with me. If you’re free tomorrow—”

Hope gleamed in Gu Xu’s eyes, but unfortunately, Huo Sining completely missed the deeper meaning in his words.

As soon as she heard Gu Xu mention treating her to a meal, she thought of what Ouyang Jun had said to her before. It seemed like Mr. Gu really liked Sister Yishan, otherwise, he wouldn’t go through such great lengths by trying to please her to pursue Bai Yishan.

Huo Sining’s gaze dimmed involuntarily at the memory of Ouyang Jun’s wish for her to help bring Gu Xu together with Bai Yishan, feeling a sense of sorrow and loss in her heart.

“The incident at the airport, if we really get down to it, was my fault. Mr. Gu, you have already helped me a lot, and I am especially thankful for your assistance today. It should be me treating you to a meal.” Huo Sining sighed in her heart, “How about this, let me treat you tomorrow. What would you like to eat?”

Since Mr. Gu’s interest lay with Sister Yishan, she would graciously play matchmaker. She would invite Sister Yishan too, and then find an opportunity to make herself scarce, providing them with a chance. As a matchmaker, she would have done her part.

Gu Xu, unaware of Huo Sining’s thoughts, would have certainly wanted to crack open the girl’s head to see what was inside had he known.

Seeing that Huo Sining had accepted, he simply thought that although his secretary was often unreliable, his dating guide seemed to be quite effective.

Caught up in his happiness, Gu Xu completely missed Huo Sining’s dispirited expression.

Fujiwara Seiho stood quietly in the corridor, where outside the drip of a spring could still be warm even in winter. But he stood as if carved from ice, radiating a chill that contrasted sharply with the amiable owner of Qingping Pavilion who had appeared during the daytime at the fish fighting championship.
