Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 208: Chapter 205: The Large Water Jar Chapter 208: Chapter 205: The Large Water Jar After the lunch that was chaotic as a chicken flying and a dog jumping, Huo Sining felt her heart was almost unable to bear the burden.

Huo Sining couldn’t help but glare fiercely at Su Qingqing – it was all the fault of this idiot, who almost made her embarrass herself in front of Gu Xu.

Su Qingqing, feeling unjustifiably glared at by Huo Sining, felt very innocent: “What’s wrong?”

Huo Sining carefully stole a glance at Gu Xu, who was settling the bill, and felt perfectly justified in being the first to walk out of the restaurant.

The meal cost nearly a thousand yuan, but Huo Sining and her companion didn’t feel embarrassed about it. After all, Shengtang Group had plenty of money, and this guy Gu Xu was the big boss of Shengtang, so this amount of money surely wouldn’t matter to him.

At the entrance of the restaurant, Huo Sining’s gaze unintentionally swept over the corridor at the door, and suddenly she was attracted by two approximately one-meter-tall jars nearby.

The restaurant was situated on Antique Street, and its decor was naturally quaint. Huo Sining hadn’t noticed it before, but now she discovered that there were two large porcelain jars placed by the door.

The jars were filled with quite a few water lilies. Because it was winter, although the jars were full of water, the water lilies had withered, giving off a somewhat desolate look.

Huo Sining wasn’t interested in the water lilies; what caught her interest were the two large jars. They were deep brown and had a landscape painting carved on their outer walls, accompanied by some ancient characters. Although the writing was sloppy and indiscernible, the jars had an incredibly comforting appearance.

Huo Sining took a liking to these jars at first glance. Not to mention their size, which was more than enough for her six ornamental carp, just the quaint charm was enough to amaze people.

“What’s up?” Gu Xu came out after paying the bill and saw Huo Sining standing at the entrance, lost in thought. He quickly came up to ask.

Snapping back to reality, Huo Sining’s face broke into a smile, pointing at the two jars and saying to Su Qingqing with a laugh:

“No need to break my back searching – no effort required when the good stuff just shows up. I think these two jars perfectly meet my aesthetic requirements, I just don’t know if the owner is willing to sell them.”

Su Qingqing was taken aback, followed Huo Sining’s pointing finger, and after a few seconds, she realized what Huo Sining meant, and her mouth fell open in surprise: “You mean to say, you fancy these two jars?”

Huo Sining nodded: “Don’t you think they are quite suitable?”

It was true, the two large jars were fairly well made, and the surface ornamentation could definitely be considered fine work.

However, perhaps because they had been in the elements for a long time, the jars were full of dust and dirt, and the insides were overgrown with green moss and algae, making them look rather unclean.

But these things didn’t bother Huo Sining. She could simply take them home and give them a good cleaning. She looked at the two jars with a happy grin, finding them more and more to her satisfaction the longer she looked.

Su Qingqing stepped forward, squatted down, and took a good look around the jars, then stood up and shrugged at Huo Sining: “They’re modern craft items, and from what I can tell, they haven’t been out of the kiln for more than fifty years. You can easily get a truckload of these in a kiln factory in the suburbs. Are you sure you want to buy them?”

Huo Sining nodded: “Since I’ve come upon them, they are the ones I want. Go and ask the owner if they are for sale.”

Su Qingqing shook her head helplessly. Meanwhile, Gu Xu had already nondiscussably gone back into the restaurant, heading directly to the bar to inquire with a waiter.

When the waiter heard that someone wanted to buy the large jars by the door, he was puzzled and looked at Gu Xu strangely, but he still dutifully made a phone call to the owner.

The owner was somewhat surprised to hear that someone wanted to buy those two large jars.

When he bought this restaurant on Antique Street years ago, the street hadn’t been renovated yet, and the buildings were dilapidated. The original owner used these two large jars to store water.

After he took over the restaurant, the original owner found it too troublesome to move the jars and simply gave them to him.

With such large jars, even he was worried, and no one would take them even if he offered them for free. The owner had no clue how to deal with them.

Eventually, one of the employees came up with an idea for him to move the jars to the entrance and turn them into water features, planting water lilies and other aquatic plants inside, which would not only be auspicious for the business but also look beautiful.

The owner thought it was a good idea and adopted it.

Indeed, once the water lilies were planted, they bloomed aplenty in the summer, very eye-catching. Often, tourists wouldn’t forget to take photos in front of the large jars after their meals.

The owner found it odd that the jars had been displayed at the entrance of his restaurant for six or seven years, yet this was the first time someone had expressed the wish to buy them.

Although everyone found them curious, they also knew they weren’t valuable. In the evenings, when the restaurant closed, the large jars would just sit blatantly by the door without ever tempting thieves.

At the end of the day, the owner was a businessman. Although the jars had served their purpose, he wasn’t one to turn down money. After giving it some thought, he had a waiter ask how much the other party was willing to pay.

Huo Sining and Su Qingqing discussed briefly and offered a thousand yuan. The owner was a straightforward man and without showing his face, he immediately agreed to the deal.

The jars were not easy to move due to their size, so Huo Sining called up Wu Jun and asked him to come over to Antique Street. He also gave him the address of the restaurant. Before long, Wu Jun arrived at the restaurant entrance with his small truck.

Stepping out of the vehicle, Wu Jun immediately caught sight of Gu Xu standing behind Huo Sining and his eyes widened in surprise.

As Huo Sining went to exchange money with a waiter, Wu Jun covertly approached Gu Xu and curiously asked, “Captain, what brings you back to S City again? Are you on some secret mission?”

Gu Xu looked up at Wu Jun with a cold glance, his gaze cutting through him like a knife, which made Wu Jun shrink back, feeling somewhat indignant. He didn’t think he had said anything wrong, so why was the captain giving him such a look?

Little did Wu Jun know that Gu Xu was feeling guilty; he had traveled all the way to S City to pursue his wife. If Wu Jun knew what he was here for, wouldn’t he laugh his head off?

After all, he was the leader of Falcon, and he had to maintain a dignified image. How could he tarnish his reputation just because he was seeking a partner?

When Huo Sining came out, she saw Wu Jun and Gu Xu both bending over, each preparing to grab one of the large jars to move it onto the truck.

Huo Sining looked at Gu Xu’s tailored suit, then at the mud and filth smeared on the exterior of the jar he was holding, and immediately felt awkward. She hurried over in a few strides to stop him, saying, “Mr. Gu, just let Wu do this…”

What a joke, his suit could probably buy dozens of these jars. How could Huo Sining dare to trouble him?

As she spoke, she instinctively reached out to grab the edge of the jar, intending to stop Gu Xu from going any further.

But as soon as her hand touched the jar, she froze.
