Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 243: Chapter 240: Gu Xu Likes Su Qingqing! Chapter 243: Chapter 240: Gu Xu Likes Su Qingqing! “Yeah, I checked the weather forecast, and this weekend the weather in S City will be clear, with not much wind, perfect for going out to sea and fishing,” Gu Xu explained.

Shit, he hadn’t heard it wrong, they were actually going to play!

Ouyang Jun suddenly opened his mouth wide in astonishment.

Seeing that Ouyang Jun did not object, Gu Xu took it as his tacit agreement and subtly hinted,

“On Friday, I’ll call Qin Tian and Huizi over, and we’ll head out to sea in the evening, just in time to see the sunrise over the sea the next morning. Do you have any other friends in S City? You can invite them along too.”

It was then that Ouyang Jun snapped back to reality. Upon hearing Gu Xu’s words, he instantly understood and laughed,

“Call people? Sure, the Su Jinyuan siblings we met at Pingzhou last time were great. And that Huo Sining with Bai Yishan were quite fun. Let’s invite them too.”

Ouyang Jun’s best skill was reading between the lines. Gu Xu might look tall and sturdy, but he was actually quite reserved, always speaking cryptically and expecting others to guess his meaning. If it were someone else, they might not catch the hidden messages in his words, but Ouyang Jun got it right away.

You little rascal, you just want to chase a girlfriend, don’t you? Looks like you’re not over Bai Yishan yet. With your icy poker face, do you think she’ll be into you?

Really now, it’s just pursuing a woman. Just go for it and tell her you’re interested. It’s not embarrassing. At your age, you’re not even in a hurry. Chasing a woman like this, when will you ever become un-single?

Ouyang Jun couldn’t help but silently criticize, a bit vexed by Gu Xu taking such roundabout ways to pursue Bai Yishan.

Gu Xu was unaware that Ouyang Jun had misunderstood his intent, but he was quite satisfied with Ouyang’s eagerness, nodding and saying, “Mm, just these few people are fine. I’ll take care of the yacht. You notify them, and as long as nobody bails, it’s all good.”

“No worries, I’m more reliable than that kid Qin Tian. I’ll make sure everything is perfect!” Ouyang Jun said with a laugh.

Gu Xu gave a noncommittal hum and promptly hung up the phone.

Hearing the beep of the call ending, Ouyang Jun’s expression stiffened, and after a few seconds of shock, he picked up his phone to call Su Jinyuan and Huo Sining.

When Huo Sining received the call, a mischievous smile immediately appeared on his face: “Going out to sea for fishing again?”

“Again? Did you arrange to go fishing at sea with someone?” Ouyang Jun was perplexed by Huo Sining’s words and hastily asked.

Huo Sining chuckled: “No, it’s just that Fujiwara Seiho from Qingping Mountain heard that I opened a fish store. Thinking that I love fishing, he sent me an invitation to go fishing at sea.”

Upon hearing that, Ouyang Jun immediately became anxious: “That Dongyang bastard? Why on earth would he come looking for you? He must have ulterior motives; you better not agree.”

Huo Sining explained: “I know what’s going on. I’ve already declined.”

Ouyang Jun finally felt relieved when he heard this, “Fujiwara Seiho has a rather complicated background; I’ve heard he has a significant power backing him. However, no one in my circle has had any dealings with him, so I didn’t pay much attention. But, there is definitely something fishy about him; I’d bet eight out of ten times he’s here because of those two Fish King koi carp you caught last time.”

Huo Sining chuckled, “I’ve already sold the koi carp to the research institute. It’s no use for him to come to me. I’m all alone, so even if he tries to curry favor with me, he won’t gain any advantage.”

But Ouyang Jun laughed, “You can’t say that. You’re a young girl; if he can’t swindle money from you, he might still deceive your feelings. These wealthy and powerful types love playing around with young girls the most. Don’t let his hypocritical facade fool you.”

Huo Sining snorted, “Do I look that easy to deceive to you?”

Remembering Huo Sining’s prowess at finding those Five Zhu Coins, Ouyang Jun couldn’t help shivering and let out a dry laugh.

To anyone observing, Huo Sining might seem fragile on the surface, but in reality, she was a master of keeping her cards close to her chest. It would be good enough if they didn’t fall into her hands—who could deceive her?

“Let me tell you, the one who invited us out to sea fishing this time is Xu Zi. You should know he’s pursuing Miss Bai. I already told you before to set me up with my childhood friend, and now the opportunity is here. My buddy’s clueless in this regard, so I have to resort to a roundabout approach. That’s settled, then; you invite Bai Yishan to join us, and we’ll find a way to make them break the ice. The best outcome would be for them to become an item…”

As soon as Huo Sining heard that the invitation was from Gu Xu, she was stunned. Then, hearing that Gu Xu was chasing Bai Yishan, her mind suddenly conjured the memory of the dinner invitation from Gu Xu she had attended with Bai Yishan not long before, and a figurative dark cloud formed over her forehead.

She would have been fine if he hadn’t mentioned it, but now she recalled that embarrassing incident and felt completely mortified:

“Stop, just stop! Ouyang, my brother, could you please sort out your facts first? I was miserable because of you last time, and here you go again; your childhood friend really drew the short straw meeting you. Mr. Gu’s interest isn’t Sister Yishan at all, okay?” Huo Sining was on the verge of exploding.

Ouyang Jun was somewhat perplexed, “What do you mean?”

“What do I mean? It’s all your fault! You got it all wrong. The last time Mr. Gu invited us to dinner, I went there with Sister Yishan, to that what’s-it-called Aesces French restaurant, and then there was a big misunderstanding. Mr. Gu said he already had someone he liked and mentioned that his girlfriend was too young and still in school; he’d wait for her to grow up a bit. That description doesn’t match Sister Yishan at all!”

Ouyang Jun was dumbfounded: “Huh?”

“Huh what huh? Your information was wrong. Thank goodness I have strong deduction skills. Sister Yishan and I pressed Mr. Gu with questions, and it wasn’t easy, but we finally figured out that Mr. Gu’s love interest isn’t Sister Yishan at all, but Su Qingqing!”

Huo Sining recounted the events that occurred at the Aesces restaurant in meticulous detail to Ouyang Jun, and proudly repeated her conclusions and judgments:

“You’re not cut out for detective work, I must say. If it weren’t for me, this sea trip of yours could have ended up an even bigger joke.”

Ouyang Jun, however, was stunned by this news. Gu Xu liking Su Qingqing? That was a joke, surely. These two couldn’t be further apart; how could that be possible?

Ouyang Jun felt either his brains weren’t functioning correctly or the world was changing too fast. Otherwise, why was everyone behaving so unpredictably? Su Qingqing and Xu Zi—pairing them together would be like blindingly pointing at a wedding registry, utterly random.

“I feel like I no longer recognize this world. Could it be that I’ve time-traveled? Xu Zi is so uptight. How could he fall for Su Qingqing? No, I need some time alone to think.”

Ouyang Jun felt his mind was in disarray, and after hanging up the phone with Huo Sining, he started to sort things out in his head.
