Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 241: Chapter 238: Jade Carver Chapter 241: Chapter 238: Jade Carver Just as Huo Sining had predicted, after the Gemstone Conference, the business of Jade Beauty started picking up.

In the half month since its opening, there hadn’t been a single order; but within three days following the conference, nearly thirty orders for jadeite jewelry were placed, and many customers even paid deposits on the spot.

While thirty orders might seem small, jadeite is a luxury item, especially when it comes to custom designs, it is exceptionally exquisite; people either don’t make a move at all, or when they do, they inevitably go for high-end goods.

Bai Yishan had an abundance of jadeite raw materials. When customers came, she didn’t bother with much small talk, opting to show them the materials first. This straightforward approach seemed direct but also possessed the most shocking impact.

Women love all things beautiful and can’t resist the temptation of stunning jadeite. None of the women who had seen so many fine pieces of jadeite was able to walk away.

That wasn’t all; these customers who placed orders didn’t just buy for themselves, they also brought along friends from their circles to buy together. Faced with such a wide selection of fine jadeite, they definitely would not enjoy it alone; thus, word spread quickly, and soon many new customers followed suit.

When Su Jinyuan learnt that Bai Yishan’s store had opened, he hadn’t paid much attention, but once the Gemstone Conference started, Jade Beauty quickly gained popularity in S City, with customers flocking to the shop.

This surprised Su Jinyuan greatly. Although thirty orders were an insignificant number for Su Group’s Donghua, achieving such a result in just three days was not even possible for Donghua’s specialized counters.

Su Jinyuan knew full well that at this rate, Bai Yishan’s studio would soon make a name for itself in S City.

But this didn’t mean it could develop in the long run; Su Jinyuan, being a businessman, naturally had a different perspective.

The promotional method of Jade Beauty had its merits, but it only caused a stir temporarily.

For a company to stand firm and develop in the long run, relying solely on promotion was definitely not enough; it must possess solid strength and heritage, otherwise, if it grew too fast, it could easily fall from the clouds.

There were many orders, but a studio ultimately has limited energy, and most importantly, as a studio, it had to have brand appeal. If the products lacked distinctive features and brand allure, the studio wouldn’t be able to grow significantly.

Clearly, Bai Yishan was also aware of this problem. Aside from jadeite raw materials and outstanding designers, there was one other crucial element for a studio—a master sculptor.

Jade Beauty didn’t lack high-quality materials or designs, but it was missing an excellent jade carver.

The success of a jadeite item did not depend on the jadeite itself or the design but hinged on the sublime workmanship of the master sculptor to bring it to life.

A jade carver with Spiritual Energy, even with a piece of low-end jadeite, could carve out a vivid and lifelike creation; conversely, if the carver’s skills were subpar, even the finest imperial green would be wasted in their hands.

Jadeite jewelry isn’t like other products; jewelry carved by hand can’t be mass-produced, so to build the brand of Jade Beauty, it wasn’t enough to rely on quantity; quality was crucial.

While discussing the future plans of Jade Beauty with Bai Yishan, Huo Sining learned from her that she was looking for a fine jade carver. Huo Sining wasn’t familiar with the field, but Su Qingqing knew quite a few people.

Upon asking Su Qingqing, indeed she frowned, hesitated for a moment, and then said:

“I do know of a master carver from Hetian, a genuine successor of traditional jade artisans. Although he is not old, his carving skills are well-known in the country. If you can convince him to join, the Jade Beauty brand is sure to thrive.”

When Bai Yishan heard there was a skilled jade carver available, she immediately became interested and asked eagerly, “Really, what is this person’s name, and is he easy to invite?”

Su Qingqing shook her head and said, “I don’t know his name; I just know his surname is Yan. As for how easy it is to invite him, you should know, geniuses, unless they are a bit eccentric, would not be alive. Talented people often have their quirks.”

“Quirks?” Bai Yishan was taken aback, and Huo Sining also looked at Su Qingqing curiously.

Su Qingqing laughed, “It’s not so much quirks, really. It’s just that his behavior is a bit strange. Although Master Yan is talented, he has never been willing to leave Hetian. He lives at the foot of Kunlun Mountain but no one has been able to convince him to come down, no matter the offers of substantial salaries or other benefits.”

“Why?” Huo Sining was bewildered.

Su Qingqing shook her head, “I’m not sure about that. A few years ago, my brother didn’t believe it and personally made Three Visits to the Thatched Cottage to Hetian, but came back empty-handed, which shows how difficult this man is to persuade.”

“What’s even more puzzling is that although Master Yan is a successor of jade carvers, he rarely does jade carving and hardly ever touches jade; he does wood carving instead. It is said that his wood carving is almost divinely perfect, and those who want his woodwork have to book at least six months in advance.”

When Su Qingqing mentioned Master Yan, her eyes lit up with excitement, which was no wonder, given how curious such a mysterious character might make anyone.

“But if this person has such quirks, how could I possibly persuade him?”

Bai Yishan shook her head, feeling that Su Qingqing was deliberately making things difficult for her.

Considering that so many jadeite companies nationwide couldn’t convince this talent, what could she Bai Yishan possibly offer to persuade such a peculiar person? Besides, she couldn’t afford to hire him at a high salary, as she was just running a studio; a small temple couldn’t fit a big Buddha.

Upon hearing this, Su Qingqing actually laughed, “I don’t know if you’ll succeed or not, but I do know one thing: Every person who has tried to invite Master Yan from the mountains has been asked a question. They say that if the person is able to provide an answer that satisfies him, he will break his rule. Not only would he leave the mountains, but he would also agree to any salary, even working for free.”

“Working for free?!” Bai Yishan was astounded, “Has anyone ever answered correctly?”

Su Qingqing snorted with laughter, “Of course not, he’s still living at the foot of Kunlun Mountain.”

“What exactly is the question?” Huo Sining asked, curious.

“The question varies,” Su Qingqing sighed, “Each person who goes to invite Master Yan gets asked a different question. Basically, after every person answers, Master Yan would say, ‘You are not the one I’m waiting for.’ ”

“Isn’t this just a stunt?” Bai Yishan felt that this man’s reputation was unfounded, it sounded like showboating.
