Urban Martial Saint

Before Li Lianshan could finish speaking, Ye Qing directly took over the phone and said, ”This is Ye Qing!”

”Mr. Ye, hello!” The person on the other end of the phone gave a cold laugh and said, ”Mr. Ye, do you really want to know why the orphanage hasn’t been approved?”

Ye Qing’s eyebrows immediately furrowed, and he said in a deep voice, ”Why?”

”Hahaha...” The person on the other end gave a cold laugh and said, ”Mr. Ye, you’re not really my friend. But, I truly don’t wish to see you kept in the dark. So, out of humanity, I’ll tell you the truth!”

Ye Qing held his breath; he really did want to know why.

”Actually, in the committee, most of the leaders cast abstaining votes. After all, Commander Zhou advocated for this matter. Most people don’t want to take responsibility, so they won’t vote in favor. Nor do they want to conflict with Commander Zhou, so they won’t vote against it either, thus they cast abstaining votes. Originally, with this result, most people abstaining and Commander Zhou’s side voting in favor, there shouldn’t have been a problem. But...”

That person paused for a moment, and Ye Qing’s heart trembled with him. He was not aware of the committee’s situation, but he truly wanted to know who was behind sabotaging him.

”But, there was a problem with this committee session.” The person sneered: ”On the committee, a few people who were prepared to abstain suddenly cast all their votes against. The number of against votes was almost equal to the number of for votes. And with most people abstaining, according to the committee’s voting rules, the orphanage matter was rejected!”

Ye Qing frowned deeply and said sternly, ”Who are these few people?”

”Mr. Ye, I think you shouldn’t be concerned about who these few people are, you should be concerned about why these few would vote against!” The person sneered: ”The identities of these few, even if I tell you, are of no use, you can’t possibly go kill them, can you? Mr. Ye, this kind of committee is actually a political battlefield. Each person chooses for their own interests, their own factions. What you need to understand is what faction these few belong to, and what exactly are their motives for opposing you?”

”Why?” Ye Qing said sternly.

”Hahaha...” That person laughed coldly again and said: ”Let me tell you this much, those few who voted against belong to the faction of the deputy secretary of Eastern Province, Huang Jianbin.”

”Huang Jianbin?” Ye Qing furrowed his brows, he had never heard this name before.

However, Zhao Chengshuang’s expression changed next to him, upon hearing this name, he had an inkling of what had happened.

”You might not be familiar with Huang Jianbin. But his brother, Huang Jianan, you must have heard of, right?” The person paused for a moment and continued: ”If you’re not familiar with Huang Jianan, then his son, Huang Boxiong, you surely know!”

”Huang Boxiong!” Ye Qing slammed his fist on the table furiously and said, ”Are you saying that this matter was sabotaged by Huang Boxiong?”

”Huang Boxiong!?” Both Zhao Chengshuang and Li Lianshan’s expressions also changed, especially Zhao Chengshuang.

”I’ve said enough, as to how it is, Mr. Ye, you’re smart enough to have a clue,” the person sneered and said, ”This matter originally had nothing to do with me. But, I didn’t want to see you lose so aggrievedly, which is why I gave you a heads up. Mr. Ye, you’re busy, perhaps we’ll meet again if fate allows!”

After the person finished speaking, he hung up the phone, leaving Ye Qing, Zhao Chengshuang, and Li Lianshan looking at each other.

After a long silence, Li Lianshan suddenly punched the table and cursed: ”God damn this bastard Huang Boxiong, this bastard, how dare he betray us!”

Zhao Chengshuang’s expression turned chillingly cold, his whole body trembling with anger. He had taken those photos of Huang Boxiong, thinking he had threatened him enough. Unexpectedly, although there were no issues with Huang Boxiong’s inspection opinions, he had sabotaged Ye Qing at the committee. This time, he had sabotaged thoroughly, outright rejecting the orphanage matter, making all the efforts of Ye Qing go to waste!

”Had I known this would happen, we should have killed this bastard back then, why keep such a menace!” Li Lianshan said through gritted teeth angrily.

”What’s the use of killing him? If we kill him, not only will the orphanage be completely hopeless, but we would all be doomed!” Zhao Chengshuang said resentfully.

”But we shouldn’t have let him go back to sabotage others!” Li Lianshan paused for a moment, then said sternly, ”How about... How about we release those photos?”

Zhao Chengshuang furrowed his brows slightly, while Ye Qing also frowned and said sternly, ”What photos?”

Li Lianshan said, ”The photos of Huang Boxiong and his inspection team members in bed with some girls. We originally took them to threaten them, and those members of the inspection team did behave quite well after returning. Little did we expect, Huang Boxiong would be so despicable!”

”Photos of them in bed?” Ye Qing furrowed his brows and said in a deep voice, ”How were these photos taken?”

At this point, Li Lianshan no longer hid anything, telling the whole story from beginning to end. Lastly, he patted Zhao Chengshuang on the shoulder and said: ”Ye Zi, this matter was done by Cheng Shuang and me, it has nothing to do with you. I know you dislike these despicable methods, but, we also wanted to get the orphanage approved. To deal with these people, we can’t not use these despicable methods. Bastard, even using these methods, it’s still not enough, Huang Boxiong is such a damn sneaky bastard!”

Zhao Chengshuang lowered his head, feeling embarrassed himself. When he did this, he deliberately sent Ye Qing away because he didn’t want Ye Qing to know about it. Now that the matter had been exposed, he felt too ashamed to face Ye Qing.

However, Ye Qing was relatively calm, silent for a while, and then softly said: ”Things have reached this point, there’s no use talking about it. Anyway, I have to thank you guys for what you have done!”

Hearing what Ye Qing said, Zhao Chengshuang and Li Lianshan were stunned. They had thought Ye Qing would be upset over what they did. But looking at Ye Qing’s expression, he was not upset at all.

Actually, had Ye Qing known about this before, he certainly would have felt uncomfortable. But now hearing it, he didn’t feel much discomfort. The orphanage not being approved had already significantly changed Ye Qing’s mentality. Especially about Huang Boxiong, Ye Qing had already started agreeing with the things Chen San had said before. When cutting weeds, one must remove the roots, otherwise, you never know when these people will strike a fatal blow!

If Wang Tian’an’s people had directly killed Huang Boxiong at that time, this matter might not have escalated to this point. Ye Qing had saved Huang Boxiong, yet Huang backstabbed him like this; it’s just a modern version of The Farmer and the Snake story!

”Ye Zi, don’t say thank you, we are brothers, your business is our business!” Zhao Chengshuang gritted his teeth and said: ”It’s this Huang Boxiong who is the most hateful. Ye Zi, shall I send those photos to the province? No matter what, we can’t let this bastard Huang Boxiong get away with it!”

”No!” Ye Qing firmly shook his head, saying sternly: ”These photos cannot be sent out!”

”Why?” Zhao Chengshuang asked in surprise, ”Why can’t they be sent out? Are we just going to let this bastard Huang Boxiong off?”

Ye Qing shook his head and said, ”If these photos are sent out, Huang Boxiong will indeed be ruined. But you and Old Li will definitely be in big trouble too.”

”I’m not afraid, I’d rather go down together with that bastard Huang Boxiong!” Zhao Chengshuang said indignantly.

”I’m even less afraid!” Li Lianshan was more straightforward, saying: ”I’ve already got nothing to lose, why should I fear his grandson. Taking down someone with such a prominent family background, I’d still come out ahead!”

”No need!” Ye Qing still shook his head and said sternly: ”Cheng Shuang, Old Li, let’s leave this matter here. Both of you, bring those photos to me as soon as possible, we can’t let any of them get out!”

”What?” Zhao Chengshuang and Li Lianshan were stunned for a moment, Li Lianshan urgently said: ”Ye Zi, are we just going to let this bastard Huang Boxiong go?”

Ye Qing slowly shook his head and said, ”I will personally go to the province to find him. If my orphanage was denied, he must also pay the price for this matter!”

”Ye Zi, you…don’t do anything foolish!” Zhao Chengshuang panicked and said: ”Huang Boxiong has a deep family background, if something happens to him, even Director Liu and Commander Zhou won’t be able to protect you!”

”I know!” Ye Qing nodded briskly, ”Don’t worry, I have my own judgment. You guys go and bring those photos first, and also…”

Ye Qing paused, looked at the phone on the table, and said in a deep voice: ”Cheng Shuang, can you help me check the origin of this phone call?”

Zhao Chengshuang and Li Lianshan looked at the phone on the table, and at the same time, a question arose in their minds: Right, who made this call?

No matter who made this call, the person who called definitely had malicious intentions. Because, he knew very well, once Ye Qing’s side knew about this, they would surely seek revenge on Huang Boxiong. Such a result would lead to Ye Qing and his group clashing with Huang Boxiong, potentially facing Huang Boxiong’s powerful family!

”Leave this matter to me!” Zhao Chengshuang said sternly.

”Bastard, once we find out who made the call, let’s get rid of this bastard first!” Li Lianshan gritted his teeth and said: ”Using such a method, trying to manipulate others to do the dirty work, how despicable!”

”I suspect you won’t be able to kill this person!” Zhao Chengshuang shook his head and said: ”I don’t even know the contents of the committee meetings, yet this person does. Clearly, this person also has a quite complicated background. Even if we find out who it is, Ye Zi, you must think thrice before acting!”

”I am clear in my mind!” Ye Qing slowly nodded. Now, he was not the same hot-headed youth who would charge into the Lin family or Ding family alone. As Chen San said, to survive in this society, one must adapt to the rules of survival of this society.

To cut weeds, one must remove the roots; against despicable people, you must be even more despicable!
