Urban Martial Saint

The moment the Explosives Expert finished speaking, a police officer suddenly ran over and exclaimed loudly, ”Captain, we’ve made a new discovery. About five centimeters from the left side of the right front wheel, we found a hydraulic clamp. From the position of this clamp, it can be deduced that the bomb was likely fixed there!”

The police officer’s voice was loud, heard by everyone present, and all eyes involuntarily turned toward the Explosives Expert.

The face of the Explosives Expert instantly reddened. He had just spoken when his mistake was immediately proven. No matter how thick-skinned he was, he couldn’t maintain his composure at all at that moment.

”Where? Let me see!” the Explosives Expert blurted out, making up an excuse to flee the scene immediately, unable to bear the embarrassment any longer.

Watching the Explosives Expert walk away, the crowd exchanged glances and burst into laughter unanimously. Ever since the Explosives Expert arrived, he had been acting all high and mighty, and Zhao Chengshuang and the others were already quite displeased with him. Now, with the expert losing face, everyone’s mood was suddenly much more relaxed.

”Not bad, Ye Zi, you seem to know quite a lot about explosives!” Zhao Chengshuang clapped Ye Qing on the shoulder, surprised, ”Looking at you now, you’re much better than those Explosives Experts. Were you really in the Special Forces when you were in the army? Could it be you were an Explosives Specialist?”

”There’s no such branch!” Ye Qing laughed and pointed at his friend, the King of Explosives, saying, ”The reason I know this stuff is mainly because this friend of mine told me—he is an absolute expert in explosives!”

”Oh, really?” Zhao Chengshuang immediately perked up, walked up to the King of Explosives, and smiled, ”Hey man, you’re a friend of Ye Zi too? Haven’t seen you around before. What should I call you?”

Seeing the police officer, the King of Explosives was slightly nervous and said, ”My... friends all call me King of Explosives!”

”King of Explosives? That’s an interesting name!” Zhao Chengshuang laughed, ”Just from the name, I can tell you’re definitely an expert among experts in explosives. Good timing, you’re here, could you do me a favor?”

”What favor?” The King of Explosives was still nervous; after all, he was responsible for a few previous explosions in the city, and that might be why he felt particularly guilty. Although he was very clear that Zhao Chengshuang was Ye Qing’s friend and wouldn’t arrest him even if he knew about his past actions, he still couldn’t shake off his nervousness.

”I don’t know what’s going on, but the bureau suddenly asked me to make a detailed report about this matter and even sent an Explosives Expert to investigate this case thoroughly. They are taking it very seriously. Furthermore, there’s supposed to be a meeting this afternoon, and the main leaders from the city bureau will be there, all listening to my analysis of the case!” Zhao Chengshuang spoke with a frustrated face, ”The city bureau has such high requirements, but that Explosives Expert who just came didn’t help much with the investigation. I was really worried. Now that you’re here, could you help me investigate the specifics of this explosion so I can include it in the report? The Assistant Director called me three times, specifically asking me to make the report as detailed as possible. It shows how much importance the higher-ups place on this case, so I really need your help!”

Hearing Zhao Chengshuang’s words, Ye Qing immediately understood what had happened. When he had brought Miss Ou and the Xiangjiang police over earlier, they had discussed the explosion and concluded that it was done by the Mercenary team. This meant that the case Miss Ou and her team were investigating was the same as this explosion case, and Miss Ou might likely contact the city bureau for the case details.

The city bureau, in cooperation with the Xiangjiang Police in handling the case, was particularly keen on maintaining a good image. Thus, they directly ordered Zhao Chengshuang to produce a detailed report. This posed a big challenge for Zhao Chengshuang since detailed reports are not easy to write. They were clueless about many aspects of explosives. The Explosives Expert who had just arrived hadn’t provided any critical information and had always been posturing in front of Zhao Chengshuang, causing him constant worry and forcing him to flatter the expert. Now fortunately, Ye Qing brought a more professional person, and Zhao Chengshuang felt like he had found a lifesaver and was not willing to let the King of Explosives leave.

Hearing Zhao Chengshuang explain this, the King of Explosives felt slightly reassured. He nodded and said, ”Since you’re a friend of the Ye brothers, consider it done. I will clarify the details related to the explosives. However, as for the report, you’ll still have to write it yourselves!”

Zhao Chengshuang was visibly relieved and exclaimed, ”No problem, no problem. We just don’t understand the professional jargon, and can’t find any clues from the explosions, which is why we can’t do it. Just get the information related to the explosion sorted out and let us know the specifics, writing the report will be much easier then!”

”That’s simple.” the King of Explosives nodded, ”Then let’s not waste time, lead me to the explosion site first!”

”Alright.” Zhao Chengshuang quickly led the King of Explosives away, with Ye Qing following behind, and the group directly headed to where the explosion had occurred the night before.

The area was now entirely sealed off, and several police officers were cautiously searching through Ye Qing’s car. The car was now essentially just a metal frame, a testament to the powerful force of the explosion.

Seeing Zhao Chengshuang coming, the police immediately cleared the way for him as he walked over with King of Explosives and said, ”Buddy, I’ll leave this area to you, I really don’t know anything about this!”

”No problem.” King of Explosives took a pair of gloves from his pocket, put them on, and slowly walked over to start examining the scene.

Zhao Chengshuang ordered all the police to back off to avoid interfering with King of Explosives’ work.

On the other side, Ye Qing’s attention was mainly on the surroundings, quietly watching for places that might hide snipers. When Ye Qing was fighting enemies at the border, he often encountered well-trained soldiers, with close-quarter combat being a common occurrence. Thus, his years of military career had cultivated in him a good habit. Upon arriving at a location, he would always observe the terrain ahead of time, noting where someone might be on watch, where snipers could hide, or where weapons might be concealed.

This square was the same; Ye Qing had already gotten a clear view of this area during his previous visit here. This time, after being attacked by a bomb, Ye Qing became even more vigilant, paying extra attention to whether there were any snipers lurking around.

Zhao Chengshuang, however, did not pay as much attention. Watching King of Explosives carefully examining the scene inside, he couldn’t help but say, ”Ye Zi, this guy is your friend? Does he really know a lot about explosives?”

”Of course!” Ye Qing nodded and said, ”Didn’t you hear? His nickname is King of Explosives. He truly deserves his name!”

”I hope he really lives up to his name, otherwise, it would be embarrassing if I can’t present a detailed report at the meeting this afternoon!” Zhao Chengshuang muttered, then turned to Ye Qing and asked, ”By the way, Ye Zi, did you pick up the people this morning? What case did Miss Ou and her team come here for this time?”

Ye Qing glanced at Zhao Chengshuang and said, ”The department assigned you to assist them with their case, and you still don’t know what it’s about?”

”It’s probably some international case. The city bureau gave me the materials this morning, but I was busy coming here to check this scene and didn’t have time to look at them in detail,” Zhao Chengshuang said. ”All said and done, isn’t this just to help you catch those assassins faster? Enough, stop beating around the bush. Miss Ou must have told you what they came here for this time. Hurry up and tell me, so I’m not unprepared when I meet them!”

Ye Qing did not withhold any information and repeated the purpose of Ou Keren and her team’s visit. After hearing Ye Qing’s words, Zhao Chengshuang’s eyes widened, ”Damn, a big case! Involving the Golden Triangle and world top-level arms dealers; oh my, if I can crack this case, wouldn’t I directly be promoted to bureau chief!”

”Wasn’t your promotion to bureau chief already secured?” Ye Qingqi asked, ”Why do you still need this case for merit?”

”The position is secured, but of course, it would be better to have a meritorious case!” Zhao Chengshuang chuckled and added, ”Besides, my goal isn’t just to be a district bureau chief, I at least want to be a provincial department head!”

”…” Ye Qing was momentarily speechless, Zhao Chengshuang really thought far. However, for such matters, Ye Qing too wished for him to climb as high as possible. After all, wherever Zhao Chengshuang could make achievements, Ye Qing would help him, as they were brothers after all.

”Don’t be silent now, you have to help me with this matter!” Zhao Chengshuang said, ”Next year is the key moment for the city bureau’s leadership change. If I can get confirmed before the change, I might have a chance to climb another level during the transition. These matters, three parts depend on connections, seven parts on competence. I must fight a good fight; only then I will have a chance to move up!”

”Alright, as if I wouldn’t help you?” Ye Qing waved his hand and said, ”You don’t have to worry about this, I also want to catch these people. If I find them, I’ll definitely notify you to arrest them.”

”That’s great!” Zhao Chengshuang’s face lit up with joy, and he proudly said, ”With your word, I feel much more confident now. From what I see, no thief can escape from your hands, probably none have been born yet!”

”Stop flattering me!” Ye Qing said, ”By the way, what’s happening with the inspection team and Huang Boxiong’s situation? After what happened last night, I didn’t go to see them off this morning, why do I feel like something we did before wasn’t quite right?”

”You don’t have to worry about that, I’ve taken care of everything!” Zhao Chengshuang smiled and said, ”Don’t worry, when they report to the province, they will only speak well of you.”
