Urban Martial Saint

After purchasing the materials, King of Explosives taught Black Bear and the others the specific installation methods, and then it was up to them to install the device here. Once the installation was completed, King of Explosives would come over for a test, and as long as it passed, there would be no issues. At least from now on, the orphanage wouldn’t have to worry about threats like bombs anymore.

Busy with things here until it was past five in the afternoon, Cheng Shuang happened to call, excitedly asking Ye Qing to bring King of Explosives over, insisting on treating him to a meal. From Cheng Shuang’s tone, it seemed like today’s meeting had been quite successful.

”How was it? The report was okay, right?” Ye Qing asked with a smile.

”You wouldn’t believe it, my report was simply fantastic!” Cheng Shuang exclaimed excitedly: ”When I presented the report to the leaders, they were all extremely shocked. Later, during the meeting I explained it again and instantly subdued all the police from Xiangjiang. Ye Zi, you have no idea how arrogant those Xiangjiang cops were when they arrived, completely disregarding us Mainland police as if they were the real bosses. But after I read my report, they were all taken down. Especially the affair about the Toxic Eel Mercenary Corps, heh, that truly was dramatic.”

Cheng Shuang was so excited that he didn’t even want to hang up the phone, he took a breath and continued: ”I pointed out directly that this mercenary squad was from the Toxic Eel Mercenary Corps of Africa. But those Xiangjiang police refused to believe it. Because they had also investigated this matter back in Xiangjiang, and even Interpol hadn’t figured out where these mercenaries came from, they simply couldn’t believe that we could determine the origins of this mercenary squad and they accused me of talking nonsense on the spot. Tell me, with my temper, could I tolerate that? It turned into a fierce argument, the police from Xiangjiang thought we Mainland cops were talking non-stop nonsense just to save face, which even embarrassed several of our city bureau leaders. It seemed that the matter was left unresolved, but guess how it got resolved in the end?”

”How was it resolved?” Ye Qing asked curiously, knowing that those few Xiangjiang cops were indeed a bit arrogant. Apart from Ou Keren, others like Zheng Tianbao were all too conceited, thinking that if they couldn’t solve a case, the police of Shenchuan City certainly couldn’t either. Now Cheng Shuang had unveiled such a clue, their skepticism was normal.

”Heh, just as the standstill persisted, and when city bureau leaders were considering to keep the peace by asking me to admit my wrong, a dramatic scene occurred!” Cheng Shuang paused, then laughed loudly: ”At that moment, Interpol suddenly called to notify the Xiangjiang Police, saying that it was highly likely that the mercenary squad was indeed Poison Eel Mercenaries!”

”Ha!” Ye Qing couldn’t help but exclaim. The timing of Interpol’s phone call was just too perfect. With this, what else could those Xiangjiang cops be skeptical about?

”Needless to say the result...” Cheng Shuang laughed heartily: ”Interpol said so, which directly verified that my report had no issues. The few leaders at the meeting were so pleased, although they didn’t pursue the matter further, the Xiangjiang cops were instantly put in their place. Earlier they wanted to take the lead, but then, the leadership was directly in our hands, I continued to speak, and they all started to take notes. Hahaha, after the meeting, the chief specially found me, telling me that I had done well this time, adding glory to the Shenchuan City police. Heh heh, even if I don’t solve the case, my promotion to chief of the bureau won’t be delayed for many days!”

Listening to Cheng Shuang’s words, Ye Qing also felt a surge of excitement. He’d never thought that King of Explosives’ report would help Cheng Shuang so much. No wonder he was so thrilled, it would be strange if he wasn’t.

”Alright, quit the chitchat, I’ve already booked a room at Louwailou, bring that guy over right now.” Cheng Shuang said: ”There’s also a piece of good news on your side!”

”What good news?” Ye Qingqi asked.

”Hehe, you’ll know when you get here!” Cheng Shuang laughed: ”Hurry up and come over, the sooner you come, the sooner you’ll know!”

After Cheng Shuang finished speaking, he hung up the phone, and Ye Qing had no chance to ask more. Shaking his head with amusement, Ye Qing didn’t stick around at the orphanage, instead directly taking King of Explosives to Louwailou.

Louwailou, is a rather famous restaurant in Shenchuan City, usually packed with diners in the evening.

Ye Qing drove with King of Explosives and hurried over, Cheng Shuang was already there waiting, and as soon as he saw Ye Qing, he immediately came to greet him.

”Ah, buddy, you’ve finally arrived!” Cheng Shuang came running over, ignoring Ye Qing and grabbed King of Explosives’ hand, saying: ”Been waiting for you for half the day, come on, let’s head up!”

Ye Qing laughed to himself, seeing that Cheng Shuang truly held King of Explosives in high esteem. But it was no wonder, not only was King of Explosives a top-level expert in explosives, he had also been a mercenary in Africa before. No one knew these mercenary matters better than King of Explosives, even clearer than Interpol. With King of Explosives around, it would indeed be easier for Cheng Shuang to solve the case.

Accompanied by Cheng Shuang, they went upstairs where a private room was already prepared; Li Lianshan had also arrived early. When Li Lianshan saw Ye Qing and King of Explosives enter, he immediately stood up and said, ”Cheng Shuang, are we all here?”

”We’re all here!” Cheng Shuang said with a smile: ”We’ve just been waiting for this guy.”

”If everyone is here, let’s get to the point. What’s the good news that you insisted on waiting for everyone to be here before revealing? Damn, the suspense is killing!” Li Lianshan said.

Cheng Shuang chuckled and responded, ”Sit down first, let’s speak after everyone’s seated!”

As the four of them took their seats around the table, Ye Qing looked at Cheng Shuang and said, ”So what’s the good news?”

”Hehe...” Cheng Shuang chuckled slyly, looking mysteriously at Ye Qing, and said: ”Ye Zi, for this matter, you have to thank me and Old Li, you know.”

”What’s going on?” Li Lianshan asked curiously.

Ye Qing was slightly taken aback, took a deep breath and said, ”Could it be... about the orphanage?”

”We’re close!” Zhao Chengshuang laughed: ”It’s not about the orphanage, the provincial meeting hasn’t even started yet. However, the Provincial Inspection Team has already returned to the province this afternoon.”

”So how did they report?” Ye Qing asked anxiously.

Zhao Chengshuang said with a laugh: ”I’ve said it’s good news already, how do you think they would report?”

”About this matter eh,” Li Lianshan curled his lips and said: ”Isn’t that obvious? Those people definitely praised us honestly. Would they dare to speak ill of us?”

”Exactly!” Zhao Chengshuang said: ”After they returned to the province, during their report, they spoke only good things about Ye Zi’s orphanage. They didn’t mention any other issues at all. According to their findings, your orphanage is flawless. Although they can’t make the final decision, they can certainly sway some leaders’ thoughts. When the meeting happens, it’ll be somewhat to our advantage!”

Ye Qing heaved a sigh of relief. This issue had been worrying him all along. Now that the Inspection Team’s work is done, he could only leave the rest to fate. What on earth the leaders were thinking, who knows? Whether the orphanage gets the approval or not, Ye Qing had done everything he could.

”The key thing is what the leaders think,” Li Lianshan turned to Ye Qing, patted him on the shoulder, and said: ”Ye Zi, don’t worry about this anymore. Anyway, I think that good deeds will be rewarded. There shouldn’t be much of an issue with this matter. After all, you’re doing a good deed. Could it be that those leaders would stop someone from doing good? What crap leaders would they be then? Sitting high up, indifferent to the people’s suffering down below, watching the kids wandering, starving, and being bullied, yet not allowing them to be helped. What difference is there between them and beasts?”

Ye Qing nodded and said: ”Alright, let’s not talk about this anymore. Chengshuang, you’ve really made a splash today. How are you planning to treat us tonight?”

Zhao Chengshuang waved his hand generously and said: ”Eat your fill, go ahead and eat as much as you like, even taking away leftovers is okay. It’s all on me!”

”That’s great!” Li Lianshan immediately turned his head and asked: ”Waiter, do you have two-foot-long lobsters?”

”We do.”

”Bring one!” Li Lianshan said.

Zhao Chengshuang’s face suddenly turned a bit pale, but he was still holding up.

”Do you have double-headed abalones?” Li Lianshan asked again.

”Yes, how many would you like?” said the waiter immediately.

”You decide,” Li Lianshan replied.

Zhao Chengshuang’s face turned even paler, staring at Li Lianshan almost dumbfoundedly.

Li Lianshan didn’t pay Zhao Chengshuang any attention, just looking at the menu and saying: ”Also, bring a top-level Emperor’s Bird’s Nest, Alaskan King Crab...”

”Big brother, I was wrong!” Zhao Chengshuang grabbed Li Lianshan and said: ”Bro, I’m just a small cop living on my salary, are you trying to eat me out of house and home?”

Li Lianshan replied: ”Didn’t you say I could order whatever I want? I was thinking of ordering extra to take home for late-night snacks!”

”You said I could order whatever, but you didn’t say I could order those things,” Zhao Chengshuang said urgently: ”Can’t you order something a bit more down-to-earth?”

Li Lianshan glared and said: ”Hey, I disagree with you there. How are these things not suitable for people to eat?”

Zhao Chengshuang said with a mournful face: ”These... the meal will cost tens of thousands, is that still reasonable for people to eat? Bro, you know how much I make in a year. Do you want me to tighten my belt to live?”

”Come on, stop crying poor with me. Everyone knows the Zhao Family is loaded!” Li Lianshan said with a dismissive gesture: ”If push comes to shove, just call over your cousin. With her Gold Card, one swipe and it’s all sorted!”

”Enough of making fun of me,” Zhao Chengshuang took the menu back and handed it to Ye Qing, saying: ”Ye Zi, you order instead, I’m at ease with you choosing!”
