Urban Martial Saint

The Golden Triangle is the largest drug base in all of Asia and one of the major drug-producing regions in the world. Positioned at the intersection of several countries, the political situation here is highly chaotic due to the nurturing influence of drugs. It can be said that the Golden Triangle area operates almost without law and restraint, with various drug lords controlling different territories, each having their own armies, hence the leaders dub themselves as generals.

Although the government’s military forces conduct drug raids annually, the terrain of the Golden Triangle is too complex. When the troops come to sweep the area, the drug traffickers hide in the mountains and engage in guerrilla warfare, leaving the military unable to cope with them, and instead suffer heavy losses during pursuits. Thus, eventually, several countries simply gave up on this region, letting the drug lords perish or thrive on their own.

Without state interference, the Golden Triangle region gradually started establishing rules. As drug traffickers fought each other for territory and resources, conflicts were common. Later, General Tawang emerged as a military strongman in the Golden Triangle. He successively swallowed up ninety percent of the power in the Golden Triangle, establishing dominance and setting the rules, finally bringing an elusive peace to the area.

However, the rule of General Tawang did not last long. Although a strong military leader, General Tawang knew only military tactics and lacked administrative skills. Under his rule, despite the peace, people’s living conditions worsened. During this period, General Sang Kun, a drug lord, took power.

General Sang Kun was originally General Tawang’s deputy, but he possessed greater control. Seizing the opportunity, he staged a military coup two years ago, placed General Tawang under house arrest, and by controlling Tawang, he gained control over the entire Golden Triangle, ushering in an era of prosperity. Under his rule over the past two years, the Golden Triangle’s power grew, even possessing the financial capability to stand up against government forces. His prestige kept rising, and in the Golden Triangle, he was recognized almost unanimously as the leader!

But then, General Sang Kun suddenly died from a heart attack, a massive blow to the Golden Triangle. Crucially, who would eventually take over the rule of the Golden Triangle was the focus of everyone’s attention. Undoubtedly, many coveted the position, and an inevitable power struggle would ensue.

At this critical moment, weapon dealers from around the world gathered in Xiangjiang; Ye Qing believed they came due to the chaos in the Golden Triangle. After all, the internal turmoil within the Golden Triangle, akin to wars between nations, generated a huge demand for weapons. These arms dealers, making fortunes from war, naturally rushed here. The assembly of so many arms dealers no doubt meant that this was a major business deal!

Arms and drugs, the two most profitable and highly prohibited businesses in the world. Now, these two businesses are intertwined, involving Interpol, which is a typical occurrence. If unrest breaks out in the Golden Triangle, it would likely lead to disturbances in surrounding areas—a significant event indeed!

”So, you came here because of the situation in the Golden Triangle?” Ye Qing looked at Ou Keren in surprise and said, ”If it’s about that issue, shouldn’t you be at the border instead of coming to Shenchuan City?”

Ou Keren shook his head and said, ”The drug prohibition team at the border on the Huaxia side has been monitoring the Golden Triangle situation; it won’t affect Huaxia for now. Even if there’s turmoil, it’s just among the countries surrounding the Golden Triangle, and we don’t have the authority to intervene. As for the arms dealers, they are under Interpol’s surveillance, and we, the Xiangjiang Police, are merely cooperating with Interpol in this case. We are here in Shenchuan City to investigate an even more troublesome case!”

”What case?” Ye Qingqi asked.

Ou Keren sighed and said, ”At this gathering of top-level world arms dealers, each brought their most powerful weapons, hoping to monopolize the business opportunities in the Golden Triangle. One of the arms dealers even brought a Russian-made intercontinental missile launcher.”

”What!?” Ye Qing’s expression changed again. Such a weapon with massive destructive power, how could it appear at such a gathering? These types of weapons are used between nations in warfare to intimidate the opponent, and are generally not used. It’s even more unlikely that they would be used in the chaotic fights in the Golden Triangle.

”What exactly are these arms dealers up to?” Ye Qing said gravely, ”Even bringing intercontinental missiles, would the Golden Triangle even need such weapons?”

Ou Keren shrugged and said, ”Whether they are needed or not isn’t the point; the key is that the intercontinental missile launcher was stolen by a group of mercenaries just before the meeting started!”

”Stolen?” Ye’s eyes widened, and he said, ”How... How could it be stolen? What do they need that thing for?”

”The problem lies here!” Ou Keren said: ”According to Interpol’s intelligence, this mercenary squad should have been sent out by a mercenary organization that was specially trained in Africa. These mercenaries are actually not much different from the army. Sometimes, some small African countries even hire mercenary corps to help them fight. The combat power of a single mercenary squad is terrifying!”

Ye Qing nodded slowly, he was well aware of the combat power of these mercenaries; some were so powerful that they were even stronger than the regular army. A whole squad robbing an arms dealer probably wouldn’t be difficult. But what exactly do they want to do by stealing the intercontinental missile launcher?

”These mercenaries always work for money and would absolutely not engage in something without profit. Thus, Interpol analyzed that this mercenary squad stole the intercontinental missile launcher definitely under someone’s orders. However, it is not yet known who directed them. But considering the deterrent power of the intercontinental missile, we have enough reason to suspect that it is most likely some terrorist organizations behind this, intending to use the intercontinental missile to threaten or achieve certain goals!” Ou Keren said solemnly: ”Therefore, we must urgently retrieve the intercontinental missile launcher and prevent those terrorists from getting their hands on it, or else the consequences would be unimaginable!”

”Are you saying that this mercenary squad has already entered Huaxia?” Ye Qing asked in a deep voice.

”Correct!” Ou Keren nodded and said, ”According to reliable intelligence, after this mercenary squad got the launcher, the person who was supposed to meet them set the location in Shenchuan City. So, these people have already entered Shenchuan City and are waiting here for the contact person. We came here this time precisely to catch this group of people as soon as possible and retrieve the launcher, absolutely before the terrorists can get it!”

Ye Qing nodded and said, ”Since that batch of mercenaries only stole the launcher, why not just take down the intercontinental missile, making the launcher useless? Wouldn’t that eliminate the danger?”

Ou Keren said, ”The arms dealer, because the launcher was stolen, had already fled overnight. When the people from Interpol caught him and interrogated him, they found out that for safety, a security measure was already set up when the intercontinental missile was installed. To remove the intercontinental missile, the launcher needs to be present. Otherwise, once the launcher is activated, the intercontinental missile will be triggered, and theoretically, it could hit anywhere in the world!”

”Who made these settings?” Ye Qing said: ”If the remote control is stolen, isn’t the intercontinental missile completely controlled? Isn’t this purely suicidal?”

Ou Keren shrugged and replied, ”These international arms dealers are all alike; to avoid being controlled, they make multiple preparations. Once captured, they can still use these items to threaten others. However, it’s also shooting themselves in the foot; once the launcher is stolen, the intercontinental missile completely falls into the opponent’s hands!”

Ye Qing sighed. That these arms dealers, profiteering from wars, are truly afraid of death. They left so many backups, but it also created many safety hazards. If we can’t retrieve this launcher this time, the entire world might be engulfed in panic. After all, the power of an intercontinental missile is tremendously terrifying!

”Do you have any information about this group of people now?” Ye Qing asked.

Ou Keren and Zheng Tianbao exchanged glances, and Ou Keren said solemnly, ”Ye, we suspect that the person who planted a bomb to kill you last night might very likely be from this mercenary squad!”

”What!?” Ye Qing exclaimed in a low voice, he never expected that his situation would also be linked to this mercenary squad. This batch of mercenaries, having stolen such an important launcher, still had the nerve to target him; were they too idle?

”This batch of mercenaries, when they robbed that arms dealer in Xiangjiang, used a sensory bomb, exactly the same method as with your incident this time. So, we have sufficient reason to suspect that what happened last night was also done by them!” Ou Keren said: ”Ye, you are much more familiar with Shenchuan City than we are. Since this batch of people targeted you, there might be another attempt. I think, to capture these people, the key is mainly on you, Ye!”

Although Zheng Tianbao looked unhappy, he had to admit that they had to follow Ye Qing. Since these people wanted to kill Ye Qing, only by following him could they find clues about this batch of mercenaries. These mercenaries, no different from the regular army, it’s not easy for these police alone to find them. The best tactic would be to wait for them to show up.
