Urban Martial Saint

Afterwards, Su Nuoyan asked many more questions about the orphanage, and Ye Qing answered each of them earnestly. He even invited Su Nuoyan to visit the orphanage and report on the actual situation there. Unfortunately, Su Nuoyan’s time was limited, and she had to leave Shenchuan City early the next morning, so that matter had to be dropped.

”Reporter Su, can this article really be published?” After the interview, Ye Qing finally voiced his biggest concern: ”The issue has become a big deal now, with the provincial committee convening a meeting to discuss it, since it sets a precedent nationwide. Plus, it involves so many children, which is a very sensitive topic. If such an article is released at this time, could it backfire?”

”Ye, rest assured!” Su Nuoyan said with a light smile, confidently speaking: ”Leave this matter to me. You’re doing this for the children, no matter what, I’ll report on this matter. What about the leaders? Can they remain seated in their positions if they’re divorced from the people?”

”If this matter is really troublesome, then... then let’s not publish it...” said Ye Qing, ”Reporter Su, it’s not a big deal for me. But, if it affects your work, then... that’s not good...”

Hearing Ye Qing’s words, Su Nuoyan’s eyes flashed with tenderness. She hadn’t expected that while Ye Qing was so concerned about the orphanage, he could still consider her situation, which gave her a warm feeling inside.

”Ye, I’m fine!” Su Nuoyan smiled, saying, ”I’ve been a reporter for so long, I certainly know what can be published and what can’t. Since I said it’s fine, there won’t be any problems with this matter. Rest easy, by the day after tomorrow at the latest, this matter will be reported.”

”Really?” Ye Qing was overjoyed, if the report could be published before the provincial meeting, it would be very advantageous for the orphanage.

”Of course!” Su Nuoyan chuckled lightly, looking at Ye Qing said: ”Ye, don’t worry too much. Actually, I don’t think this matter is that difficult. After all, it’s not easy to move so many children to any orphanage. Besides, the public orphanages in the province have been frequently exposed to various issues recently, leading the public to view them with skepticism. These children, once the report comes out, will inevitably become the focus of the whole society. No matter where they are placed, they will be under scrutiny. At this time, if any problems arise at any step, the provincial leaders will definitely have to take responsibility. So, I believe any wise leaders definitely won’t just randomly take these children away. Moreover, now that you’re willing to take care of these children without any compensation, and your orphanage’s facilities are also pretty good, most of these leaders would prefer to place these children in your orphanage. This way, the public’s attention will be on you. Should any accidents occur, in fact, their responsibility will be smaller, and they could easily push the blame onto you.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Qing was stunned for a moment, not expecting Su Nuoyan to understand so much. He nodded slowly, saying, ”Even if I have to take all the responsibility, I don’t care!”

Su Nuoyan’s eyes brightened even more. She didn’t know Ye Qing well before, but after talking so much with him tonight, she was thoroughly impressed by him. After all, how many people in this world could do these things selflessly and without regrets like Ye Qing?

Su Nuoyan said, ”Ye, I just want to tell you that if the province is willing to approve the orphanage’s affairs, then you must be prepared to take responsibility. After all, these children are living, breathing humans. To care for them, it’s not just about providing a certain amount of money each month, it also requires a lot of care, and even more attention to the management of the orphanage. These children are too young to have autonomy, and it wouldn’t be good if someone uses them as a tool for making money!”

Ye Qing clenched his fists and said in a deep voice, ”Whoever dares to make money using these children, I will not let them off!”

Reporter Su said, ”Ye, don’t get excited, I’m just giving you a heads-up. You really need to screen the staff for the orphanage carefully, you must not let people with ill intentions into the orphanage!”

Ye Qing fell into silence upon hearing these words. To be honest, he hadn’t thought much about these matters before. After all, he had always been busy and hadn’t the time to consider so much. For the safety of the orphanage, he had even dispatched many people to protect it. However, now that he thought about it, although the people he sent were his subordinates, they all came from rough backgrounds. Not every one of them might listen to Ye, and if one or two had ill intentions, then there could indeed be a hidden danger.

This matter made Ye Qing more vigilant. He nodded and said, ”Reporter Su, thank you for the heads-up, I will certainly have to pay more attention to this matter in the future.”

”There’s nothing else then.” Su Nuoyan took out a business card and handed it to Ye Qing, smiling, ”Ye, last time in Xishan City, you helped me out, and I’ve been too busy to thank you. I should have thanked you for coming to Shenchuan City, but I’ve been preoccupied. Tonight’s coffee was really just an excuse to interview you, and it doesn’t count as gratitude. I’m also busy and really have no more time. Here’s my business card, if you go to Dongzhou, make sure to call me, let me return the favor as a host.”

Reporter Su, don’t be polite,” Ye Qing accepted the business card and sincerely said, ”By reporting on the orphanage’s situation, you’ve already helped me a lot, I should be the one thanking you!”

”Reporting news is exactly what we journalists are supposed to do!” Su Nuoyan laughed and said, ”Brother Ye, I really should be going. Remember to look for me when you go to Dongzhou, you must find me!”

”Alright.” Ye Qing stood up, escorted Su Nuoyan out, and watched as she drove away before slowly making his way back into the café.

The reason Ye Qing came out tonight was mainly because he felt troubled. He didn’t expect to stumble upon such an opportunity. If this report can really be published, according to what Su Nuoyan said, it would be greatly beneficial for the approval process of the orphanage. If the provincial inspection team could also speak favourably, wouldn’t that make things even more hopeful?

After looking at Su Nuoyan’s business card, Ye Qing solemnly put it in his pocket. Although he didn’t know Su Nuoyan’s position, the things she said earlier suggested that this reporter had quite some clout at the provincial television station. Getting to know such a person was a good thing; in the future, if something came up with the orphanage, he could ask for her help.

Even though Su Nuoyan had left, Ye Qing was in no hurry to leave. He just sat in the café sipping his coffee slowly. Checking the time, it was almost twelve, only then did Ye Qing stand up, left the café and leisurely went to the square to drive his car.

At midnight in Shenchuan City, the streets are still bustling with people. The glitzy metropolis at night is mostly frequented by young men and women, exuberantly exuding excess hormones. The whole city seems immersed in opulence.

Although he had been living in this city for a long time and even stood at the pinnacle of it, Ye Qing felt completely out of sync with this atmosphere. In fact, he didn’t like this noisy ambiance at all. Despite being in the nightclub business, he never went to clubs to play himself. He did not like that sort of place.

At the parking lot of the square, a few flamboyantly dressed girls were standing on the street, eyeing passersby with suggestive looks. Ye Qing knew that these girls had some physical assets, so they often came here to seek out single men with nice cars to make money. In fact, these girls used to live their lives in nightclubs. However, after Ye Qing banned such things in the club, these girls turned to the streets.

Ye Qing had seen enough of this and knew he couldn’t stop it alone. Everyone lives by their own values in this world. If they want such a life, others can’t control them. As long as it’s not forced prostitution, Ye Qing couldn’t bother to care.

Approaching his car, Ye Qing had just opened the door when several girls immediately looked over. Ye Qing was driving a Land Rover worth nearly two million from Li Lianshan, which was considered a luxury car here in the square, naturally drawing attention. Moreover, Ye Qing was tall and handsome, young, and appeared to be a wealthy and successful young man. The girls’ eyes were glued on him.

The girl closest to Ye Qing took the initiative and came over with a swaying waist. Just as Ye Qing opened his car door, she directly got into the passenger seat, giving Ye Qing a seductive look and said, ”Big brother, I don’t have a place to stay tonight, could you take me in for a while?”

Ye Qing frowned slightly. This girl was too forward.

”I’m sorry, you got the wrong person!” Ye Qing shook his head and said, ”This is my boss’s car, and I have to go pick up my boss!”

The girl was originally trying her best to entice Ye Qing with seductive chest squeezing and hip swaying. Hearing what he said, her face changed, and she spat, ”I thought so, how could someone so young and handsome also be so rich? A perfect man like that doesn’t exist in this world, what a waste of time! Pah!”

The girl spat, covered her chest with her bag, flung the car door open, jumped out, and walked away without a second glance at Ye Qing.

Seeing the girl’s reaction, Ye Qing couldn’t help but smile slightly. He came here often, and had encountered this situation many times. That line he just used was the most effective, always managing to send these girls away directly, saving a lot of trouble.

Ye Qing was about to get into the car when he suddenly heard a beeping sound near his ear.
