Urban Martial Saint

”Zheng Tianbao, how can you speak like that!” Ou Keren glared indignantly at the young man and said, ”Ye is specifically dispatched by the Shenchuan City Police Department to receive us, which means, Ye represents the Shenchuan City Police Department. How can you be so rude?”

Chastised by Ou Keren, Zheng Tianbao felt somewhat embarrassed and dared not argue with her. However, his look towards Ye Qing became even more resentful. In his view, Ou Keren was solely blaming him because of Ye Qing, and Ye Qing must take responsibility for this.

”Ye, don’t mind him, that’s just his personality!” Ou Keren turned around, smiling at Ye Qing, and said, ”Ye, shall we head to the city first?”

”Alright.” Ye Qing’s face always had a light smile, and Zheng Tianbao’s words hadn’t affected his mood. Honestly, seeing Ou Keren again truly made Ye Qing very happy, as if meeting an old friend after a long time, finally encountering each other again.

Although Zheng Tianbao and others were very displeased, no one dared to confront Ou Keren; they could only follow her resentfully out of the airport.

Ye Qing’s subordinates were waiting outside. Seeing Ye Qing come out, everyone quickly approached and helped Ou Keren and the others with their luggage, loading it onto the car.

On this side, Zheng Tianbao and others watched in astonishment as Ye Qing’s subordinates, each showing surprise on their faces. Being from police backgrounds, they could tell at a glance that these people, with tattoos on their arms and necks, were definitely not good Samaritans. The respectful attitude they showed towards Ye Qing was certainly not the usual superior-subordinate or employer-employee relationship, but rather like the relationship between gang members and their leader. Wasn’t Ye Qing a special advisor to the Shenchuan City Police Department? Why did he seem more like a boss?

”Captain, something seems off!” Zheng Tianbao walked up to Ou Keren and whispered, ”This Ye Qing, his identity is a bit strange, he’s probably not a policeman!”

Ou Keren knew the situation in Shenchuan City best. She glanced at the subordinates around Ye Qing and couldn’t help but smile, saying, ”Ye, I heard over in Xiangjiang that you have been doing quite well here in Shenchuan City lately. I didn’t expect that in just a few days, your conditions here have much improved!”

”Just caught some opportunities.” Ye Qing replied with a light smile, not wanting to delve too much into this matter.

Seeing how Ou Keren spoke with Ye Qing, Zheng Tianbao and others widened their eyes even more. It seemed that Ou Keren knew Ye Qing was a boss, and she was so close with him; what was really going on?

Ou Keren ignored these people, just standing together with Ye Qing. Seeing someone bringing her suitcase over, she quickly said, ”Oh, don’t place this suitcase at the bottom, the items inside are fragile.”

Ye Qing noticed the suitcase and curiously said, ”Miss Ou, what did you bring this time? Why such a big suitcase?”

”Nothing much, just helping my grandfather’s old friend bring back some of his comrades’ ashes.” Ou Keren said, ”My grandfather’s old friend was a veteran of the resistance war, and later for some reasons, he fled to Xiangjiang. Most people died abroad, and their biggest wish was to be buried in the homeland. Since I was coming over now, my grandfather entrusted this task to me!”

”I see.” Ye Qing nodded, then said to the others, ”Take good care of this suitcase, don’t bump it!”

”Yes!” A few subordinates specifically ran to a nearby store, got some soft sponges and other things, padded several layers, then carefully placed the suitcase into the vehicle, relieving Ou Keren from worrying about these items.

After everything was arranged, the group boarded the cars in batches. Ye Qing and Ou Keren got into one car, but Zheng Tianbao insisted on joining them; reluctantly, they had to share the car among the three of them.

Fortunately, Ye Qing borrowed Li Lianshan’s RV, and the three sitting in the back did not feel crowded. The environment inside the car was also good, the spacious space and modern facilities amazed Ou Keren, who came from the big city of Xiangjiang, and Zheng Tianbao was almost dazzled.

”Mr. Ye...” Zheng Tianbao suddenly looked at Ye Qing and said, ”Is it so easy to make money as a special advisor in the police department? Buying such a car must cost quite a bit of money? They say the salaries are low on the Mainland, but it seems your salary isn’t low at all, is the rumor wrong, or does Mr. Ye have another way to get rich?”

Ye Qing just smiled lightly. Zheng Tianbao, since his arrival, had always been at odds with him. This remark was clearly implying that Ye Qing had bought this car through corruption. Ye Qing didn’t bother to explain, he wasn’t an official, how could he have a chance to be corrupt?

”Zheng Tianbao, can’t you be quiet?” Ou Keren became displeased and snapped, ”Ye is only a special advisor to the police department, not on the payroll of the police department, and doesn’t rely on the police department’s salary to live. Besides, Ye has many businesses in Shenchuan City, buying such a car, what’s so difficult about it?”

”Oh.” Zheng Tianbao glanced at Ye Qing and said, ”So the police from the Mainland can do business? And to do business on such a large scale, it must not be easy, Mr. Ye!”

”Did you not hear me speak?” Ou Keren said anxiously, ”Ye is only a special adviser to the Police Department, not a policeman, unbureaucratic. Helping the Police Department is just fulfilling the duty of a good citizen, purely voluntary. Business is Ye’s main occupation. Zheng Tianbao, can you stop causing trouble out of nothing?”

”Captain, how is this causing trouble out of nothing?” Zheng Tianbao said urgently, ”Tell me, our Xiangjiang Police and Shenchuan City Police Department are jointly handling a case, this is a major collaborative matter. They don’t even send someone to receive us, do they still consider us, Xiangjiang Police, important at all? Sending such a so-called special adviser, who is not even a policeman but a businessman, can he represent the Shenchuan City Police Department? Moreover, this case is so significant, should it be made known to outsiders casually?”

”You...” Ou Keren was furious, about to burst out, but was stopped by a gesture from Ye Qing.

”Miss Ou, Officer Zheng is quite right,” Ye Qing said with a light smile. ”Officer Zheng, I’m really sorry. Initially, the plan was for Deputy Chief Zhao Chengshuang of the local police substation here to welcome you, but last night, a major case occurred here in Shenchuan City, and Director Zhao couldn’t make it. Thus, they asked me to receive you. Although I am not a formal policeman, I am very willing to fulfill the duty of a good citizen and cooperate with the police on the case. As for the particulars of this case, I’m not in a hurry to know. Once you discuss with the city bureau and think it necessary, you can let me know. If there’s anything I can help with, Mr. Ye will be at your immediate disposal!”

Ye Qing spoke very peacefully, and although Zheng Tianbao was angry, he felt embarrassed to continue venting. Biting his teeth, he angrily turned his head away, ignoring Ye Qing.

”Ye, he is just like that, please don’t take it personally!” Ou Keren said with an awkward smile, ”By the way, what was the big case that happened last night in Shenchuan City? Does it really require Director Zhao to be there personally?”

”It was quite a big deal; it was an explosion case!” Ye Qing slowly recounted the events of last night. After hearing Ye Qing’s account, both Ou Keren and Zheng Tianbao were visibly shocked, exchanging a look of astonishment.

Ou Keren furrowed her brows and said solemnly, ”Ye, based on what you said, the person who installed the bomb must be a professional demolition expert!”

”That’s likely!” Ye Qing nodded, ”It was a Sensory Bomb, very difficult to install, something an ordinary person couldn’t manage. The one who managed to install it in such a short time must be a professional demolition expert, either a retired demolition soldier or some kind of explosives expert!”

Ou Keren slowly shook her head, glanced at Zheng Tianbao, and said sternly, ”Ye, do you know what case we came here for in Shenchuan City?”

Ye Qing also glanced at Zheng Tianbao, assuming Zheng would intercept Ou Keren. Unexpectedly, Zheng Tianbao did not speak, only frowning deeply as if pondering something.

”What case?” Ye Qing asked.

”It started from something two months ago...” Ou Keren said gravely, ”Two months ago, the Xiangjiang Police received a notice from Interpol that the world’s top arms dealers had all entered Xiangjiang!”

Ye Qing also frowned; being an ex-soldier, he knew what this meant. Arms dealing itself is one of the biggest threats in the world, where arms dealers are, casualties follow. Yet, such arms dealings mostly take place in places like Africa, rarely heading to stricter managed locations. However, top international arms dealers all gathering in Xiangjiang was completely abnormal and couldn’t be ignored. After all, the weapons handled by any of these dealers could support the military operations of a small nation. So many of them entering Xiangjiang, what exactly happened?

Ou Keren said gravely, ”According to the intelligence we received, these arms dealers came to Xiangjiang mainly for a very important reason!”

”What reason?” Ye Qing asked.

Ou Keren took a deep breath and said, ”Ye, are you aware of the recent changes in the Golden Triangle?”

Ye Qing shook his head; he used to be well-informed since he served as a soldier there, often capturing drug lords who knew the situation in Golden Triangle well. But after leaving the troops, he was out of the loop.

Ou Keren said gravely, ”General Sang Kun, the drug lord from the Golden Triangle region, died suddenly of a heart attack three months ago!”

”What!?” Ye Qing couldn’t help but exclaim, he knew of Sang Kun’s reputation, the biggest drug lord in the Golden Triangle and the one who dictated the rules there. If Sang Kun was dead, wouldn’t the Golden Triangle be in chaos now?
