Urban Martial Saint

Upon hearing about the second matter, Wang Yuanbo also couldn’t help but feel somewhat embarrassed, as he vaguely knew about it. However, at the time, since it involved Hong Tianxiang’s brother-in-law, he thought it would be troublesome and decided not to get involved. As for what exactly happened, he indeed didn’t know, but he was sure that Gu Yaqing had been framed by someone.

As for Wang Tong, hearing this matter, he was close to breaking down. He hadn’t refrained from engaging in similar activities at school, but relying on his brother-in-law Hong Tianxiang, he had always been safe. But now, with Ye Qing mentioning this matter in front of Huang Feiming, could Huang Feiming ignore it? If Huang Feiming personally looked into the matter, then not even Hong Tianxiang could protect him!

Just as expected, after hearing Ye Qing’s words, Huang Feiming’s face changed. A teacher committing such an act was already challenging people’s bottom line, and now, it was even overheard by Xu Changzhi. Furthermore, there were traces of favoritism in the Jiuchuan County police department’s handling of the matter, which was another gaping hole under his jurisdiction. If Xu Changzhi were to report this matter to the province, he would definitely not be able to escape culpability!

Outraged, Huang Feiming glared fiercely at Wang Tong and bellowed, ”What the hell is going on here?”

”This...I...” Wang Tong stammered, completely unable to answer.

Huang Feiming angrily said, ”Wang Yuanbo, explain to me what exactly is happening here!”

Wiping the cold sweat from his forehead, Wang Yuanbo quickly said, ”I...I don’t know what’s happening here, this case was handled by Deputy Director Zhou Hongbin, I...I am not familiar with the specifics.”

”Not familiar?” Huang Feiming glowered and retorted, ”You, as the chief of Jiuchuan County’s police department, are telling me you’re not familiar with a major case that occurred within Jiuchuan County? Wang Yuanbo, have you eaten so much lard that it’s clouded your mind? Don’t you know your identity and what you should be doing?”

No one had dared to berate Wang Yuanbo like this before, but now, after being scolded so severely by Huang Feiming, Wang Yuanbo didn’t even dare to let out a fart.

Wang Yuanbo stood up straight and said loudly, ”I apologize, Director Huang, this was my negligence. I will immediately dispatch someone to thoroughly investigate the entire case. All those involved, no matter their position, identity, or whether they are personnel from within our police system. If any crime occurred, I will deal with it severely, with no leniency!”

Upon hearing this, Huang Feiming finally nodded with satisfaction and said, ”Wang Yuanbo, ensure that you thoroughly investigate this. All personnel related to this case must be dealt with seriously. We, as law enforcers, must not wrong a single good person, nor let any bad person go, understand?”

Huang Feiming’s last sentence sounded rather pleasing to the ear and was actually meant for Xu Changzhi to hear. Chanting slogans was not his first time doing so, and he was very proficient at it.

”Understood!” Wang Yuanbo responded promptly, pulling out his phone and dialing a number: ”Hello, Team Leader of the fifth team, immediately take your men to the county high school and bring back all those related to Gu Yaqing’s falling incident for separate interrogations. Also, send a team to Old Fifth Yang’s hotel. There’s a group of suspects here; catch them all and bring them back!”

Wang Tong and others instantly felt deflated, no doubt that by suspects Wang Yuanbo meant them.

”Director Wang, this...this case has already been concluded. You...you don’t need to bother anymore…” Wang Tong looked at Wang Yuanbo and murmured softly, ”You know, my brother-in-law even personally inquired about this case. He said the case was handled well. You don’t need to keep...”

Wang Yuanbo glared and shouted, ”Cut the crap. What is your brother-in-law? Does he have a say in how our police department handles cases?”

Wang Tong knew that Wang Yuanbo didn’t get along with his brother-in-law, but it hadn’t come to such an overt extent. With such words, wasn’t Wang Yuanbo giving too little respect to Hong Tianxiang?

”Director Wang, while my brother-in-law indeed has no control over how your police department works, he still oversees the Political and Legal Affairs Committee. And your police department falls under its authority!” said Wang Tong, glancing subtly at Wang Yuanbo, hinting he should not escalate the situation.

Wang Yuanbo couldn’t help but chuckle and said, ”Stop threatening me with your brother-in-law. He’s in hot water now, barely able to save himself. You don’t know anything and yet keep flaunting your brother-in-law’s influence. I truly feel sorry for you!”

”How is my brother-in-law in a position where he can’t save himself?” Wang Tong glanced at Huang Feiming and whispered, ”Even Director Huang isn’t entitled to decide my brother-in-law’s fate.”

Huang Feiming couldn’t be bothered with him, while Wang Yuanbo scoffed, ”Huh, people like you, I really wonder how you’ve managed to stay alive until now. Your brother-in-law was arrested last night, and even your sister and brother, all of them were taken as well. The charges will mostly be settled in the next few days, and here you are still trying to intimidate others using his name? For God’s sake, aren’t you afraid of being arrested as his accomplice?”

”What?” Wang Tong was instantly stunned and exclaimed, ”What are you talking about? Who arrested my brother-in-law? Who has the guts to arrest my brother-in-law!”

Wang Yuanbo waved his hand, ”Go find out for yourself.”

Wang Tong hurried out of the private room, making a flurry of calls to Hong Tianxiang, only to get no answer. He then tried his sister Wang Qing, still no answer. He called several of his official brothers and brothers-in-law, but the result was the same; nobody answered, which made his heart start to chill. If it were just one person not answering, it might be nothing, but so many people not answering? Could it be that what Wang Yuanbo said was true? If it was, then... then what to do?

Meanwhile, Li Kason and others were also busy making calls, seeking connections to smooth over the incident. However, once the people they reached heard that the order came from Huang Feiming, they unanimously refused to help. It wasn’t that they didn’t want to assist; they simply lacked the capability to do so.

You must be joking, with the city bureau chief personally ordering a thorough investigation of these two cases, how many people in the city could stop him?

Yet, from these few phone calls, they learned another piece of news, that of Hong Tianxiang’s and Wang Qing’s arrest. Not many knew about it, but everyone who did was shocked. After all, it was the first time in Jiuchuan County that the military had intervened in an arrest, making the incident much more serious than imagined!

Many predicted that Hong Tianxiang’s line was completely finished. Those who had basked in his reflected glory, including Wang Tong, shouldn’t expect an easy time either. With the military involved, how could this be compared to ordinary incidents?

Having learned the details of his brother-in-law’s and sister’s arrest from Li Kason and the rest, Wang Tong went limp. His greatest support had been his brother-in-law Hong Tianxiang, and now with Hong Tianxiang fallen, he was finished too. From the things he’d done in the past, just a few cases dug up would probably mean spending the rest of his life in prison.

Before long, the police Wang Yuanbo had called arrived, handcuffing and taking Wang Tong and his group away. Among them were some influential officials, but Wang Yuanbo was no longer willing to give them any face!

Seeing the leaders and principals who had once bullied him being taken away by the police, Gu Xianping was so excited that his voice trembled. He shakily stood up, clutching Wang Yuanbo’s hand, his voice quivering, ”Director Wang, I really... really thank you. If not for you, my daughter’s injustice... might never have been cleared in her lifetime...”

As he spoke, Gu Xianping bent down to kneel, overwhelmed with gratitude.

Wang Yuanbo would never dare allow Gu Xianping to kneel before him and hurriedly helped him up, ”Teacher Gu, please don’t say that, all this was our duty. It was my negligence earlier for not supervising my subordinates properly, causing you losses. I should be the one apologizing to you. Thanks to Director Huang’s keen insight, he saw there was a problem with this case and had me re-investigate. If you want to thank anyone, you should thank Director Huang!”

Gu Xianping swiftly turned to Huang Feiming, but Huang Feiming, as if his bottom had touched something hot, jumped up and hurriedly stopped Gu Xianping from kneeling. He wanted to present a good image of a police officer before Xu Changzhi, hoping Xu Changzhi would put in some good words for him to Xu Canjun, so he was very particular about his image, being approachable to Gu Xianping. Besides, Gu Xianping was Ye Qing’s teacher and Ye Qing was Xu Changzhi’s lifesaver. With this relationship in mind, how could he dare let Gu Xianping kneel to him!

After some convincing words from Huang Feiming, Gu Xianping did not kneel, but his gratitude was still very evident. Especially towards Ye Qing, he knew that these people helped him mainly because of Ye Qing. For this capable student, he felt both grateful and proud!

Ye Qing was quite satisfied with how Huang Feiming and Wang Yuanbo handled the situation. He had been considering an opportunity to resolve these two issues anyhow, and everything just happened to come together. The most critical aspect was vindicating Gu Xianping, followed by dealing with Gu Xianping’s job.

Logically, after clearing up Gu Xianping’s earlier issue, he could go back to teaching. Ye Qing didn’t want him to go back to being a teacher, as the salary was too low for supporting two children.

However, in his conversations with Gu Xianping, Ye Qing could tell that Gu Xianping very much hoped to return to teaching.

No wonder, he had spent twenty to thirty years in that profession, dedicating almost his entire life to it. Asking him to switch careers was naturally not suitable. Plus, Gu Xianping enjoyed being with students, wanting to continue teaching and staying with them was his wish.

Ye Qing was thinking about finding an opportunity for Gu Xianping to get a part-time job to earn more money to support his family when suddenly, a noisy commotion came from outside the door.

Old Fifth Yang was entertaining guests inside the house and frowned immediately upon hearing the commotion. He got up and walked to the door, just about to push it open, when the door was suddenly kicked open from the outside.

The person who kicked open the door was none other than He Biao. He swept a cold gaze over everyone inside and then glared at Ye Qing, angrily bellowing, ”Ye, you son of a bitch, do you dare to fight me like a man?”

(I have something to do this morning, so I’ll only update one chapter. Two more chapters will come tonight. Sorry to keep all my friends waiting.)
