”No need for formalities, Minister Chen has been my superior for many years, and I definitely won’t let him down with the tasks he entrusts to me!” Wu Anping glanced at Zhou Hongbin and asked, ”How is it going? Has he decided to confess now?”

Ye Qing smiled and said, ”Taking down Hong Tianxiang is definitely not a problem!”

Zhou Hongbin was still shocked by what Wu Anping had just said. Which Minister Chen? The first person he thought of was Chen Chunyang, the Minister of the Municipal Armed Forces Department—it’s said that Wu Anping was brought up by him; indeed, he was his senior. But, how could Chen Chunyang entrust Wu Anping with this matter? Chen’s character is traditionally more moderate, not as assertive as Wu Anping. Logically, he shouldn’t want Wu Anping to clash with local police, right?

But if it wasn’t him, which other Minister Chen could mobilize Wu Anping?

”Hey, what’s going on between you and Ye Qing?” Wu Anping’s sudden question interrupted Zhou Hongbin’s thoughts. He was taken aback, glanced at Ye Qing, then at Wu Anping, and suddenly realized, he hurriedly said, ”Nothing, nothing, Mr. Ye and I are old friends. We just had a meal together, nothing more!”

Wu Anping nodded with satisfaction and inquired, ”Is that so? I heard he kidnapped you. Is there any truth to that?”

Zhou Hongbin repeatedly said, ”No, no, we’re old friends, how could there be such a thing? That was all fabricated by Hong Tianxiang; there’s no truth to it!”

”That’s good to hear!” Wu Anping nodded and turned to Wu Jianbing, saying, ”What about you? Did you hear that? It wasn’t Ye Qing who kidnapped a police officer, they just had a meal together, you’ve wrongfully accused an innocent man!”

”Yes, yes, I understand, I understand...” Wu Jianbing responded repeatedly, knowing that Hong Tianxiang was done for. Zhou Hongbin was clearly kidnapped by Ye Qing, but now he’s changed his tune and said it wasn’t a kidnapping. It looks like Zhou Hongbin has completely sided with Ye Qing.

Zhou Hongbin had worked for Hong Tianxiang for so many years and held a lot of evidence against him. Now with Wu Anping supporting Ye Qing from the shadows, Hong Tianxiang was certainly doomed. Wu Jianbing was no fool; he knew very well which side he should choose now!

”All right, since there’s nothing wrong, you all can disperse now.” Wu Anping waved his hand and said, ”Director Zhou, could I trouble you and your family to make a trip to the military base? I have some matters I’d like to ask you about.”

”Yes, certainly, of course.” Zhou Hongbin quickly agreed.

”That’s settled, then!” Wu Anping nodded, turned to speak to Ye Qing, but just then Ye Qing’s phone suddenly rang.

Ye Qing answered the call, and an anxious voice from Old Fifth Yang came through, ”Ye brothers, there’s trouble—Teacher Gu and his son have been captured by He Biao!”

”What!” Ye Qing’s expression changed, and he hurriedly put down the phone, turning to Wu Anping, he said, ”Minister Wu, could I trouble you to help me out once more?”

Wu Anping nodded decisively, ”No problem, just say it!”

Elsewhere, in the hospital, Yuan Xiaoyu was being beaten by the Wang family. Suddenly, the door to the ward burst open, and Da Fei rushed in, grabbing a chair by his side, and swung it down hard on the back of the man on the outer edge.

”Ouch, fuck, who the hell is that!” The man turned around and seeing Da Fei with the chair, he furiously shouted, ”You fucking looking for death?”

”You’re the fucking one looking for death!” Da Fei roared, lifting the chair and smashing it down without hesitation. He was acting on Ye Qing’s orders to take care of Ye Changwen, hearing the commotion he’d rushed over, not expecting to find this scene; naturally, he was enraged.

The man was hit several times, his head starting to bleed, and he grimaced in pain, shouting, ”Do you fucking know who I am? I am...”

”I don’t give a fuck who you are!” Da Fei smashed down again, and the man immediately moved aside, clutching his head.

The other members of the Wang family turned to confront Da Fei, yelling as they planned to deal with him. Seeing the scene unfold, Da Fei threw the chair aside, drew a machete from his waist, and said, ”Come on! Bring it, all of you fuckers!”

Although the Wang family outnumbered Da Fei, they were basically unaccustomed to fighting, and seeing the machete, they were somewhat intimidated. As Da Fei, who was virtually battle-hardened from frequent brawls with petty thugs, swung the machete, the Wang family members immediately backed off, none daring to step forward.

”You... what do you want to do?” Wang Qing glared at Da Fei, shouting angrily, ”Do you know who I am? My husband is Hong Tianxiang, Secretary of the County Political and Legal Committee. If you dare touch me, I’ll make sure you die a terrible death!”

”Damn, I don’t care whether it’s Hong Tianxiang or Hong Tian shit!” Da Fei cursed and charged forward. The man closest to him panicked, turned to run, but was struck on the back by Da Fei’s machete, crying out in pain as he fell to the ground.

The others were frightened still; they had intended to intimidate Da Fei with their status, but he didn’t care about their identities at all. As Da Fei charged menacingly, the men, scared, scattered and ran out past him.

Wang Qing was also scared; she kept a safe distance from Da Fei and ran to the door of the ward, then began to shout, ”You remember this, you’ll pay for this, I will not let you off. Just wait, you just wait!”

Da Fei twisted his head, and Wang Qing immediately let out a scream, turning to run away. Even in high heels, she managed to run that fast; she must be the first.

Da Fei went over to help Yuan Xiaoyu, who had been hit quite hard; her head was broken open and bleeding. Da Fei hastily tore off a piece of clothing to bandage her wound and said, ”You’re okay, right?”

Seeing Da Fei, Yuan Xiaoyu finally couldn’t hold back her tears. A girl enduring all this was really too much for her!

Da Fei comforted her in a low voice, ”It’s okay now, it’s okay. Big brother has arranged everything well, no one will bully you anymore!”

Yuan Xiaoyu sobbed, ”Brother... where did brother go?”

Da Fei smiled and said, ”He’ll be back soon, don’t worry.”

Yuan Xiaoyu nodded, looked at Yuan Xiaozheng on the hospital bed, and said softly, ”But, this time you injured Hong Tianxiang’s relative; won’t that cause trouble?”

Da Fei smiled and said, ”Don’t worry, there won’t be any problems; big brother is here!”

Yuan Xiaoyu glanced at Da Fei. She didn’t expect Da Fei to hold Ye Qing in such high esteem. But then again, considering what Ye Qing had done before, she too was filled with hope for him.

There was also a basement in He Biao’s teahouse, which was his most profitable underground gambling den where the stakes were generally high. However, today, the gambling den was closed because He Biao was holding several people captive in the basement.

Hou San and a few others lay bloodied on the ground after a severe beating. He Biao sat beside them, cursing furiously, ”You motherfucker, how have I not treated you well? You eat mine, spend mine, yet you turn around and go against me. Bastard, you even dared to pull a knife on me; did you really think you could outfight me?”

The more he cursed, the angrier he got. He Biao abruptly got up, walked over to Hou San, and kicked him repeatedly on the back, saying, ”Bastard, the thing I hate most in my life is betrayal. Motherfucker, if I don’t kill you today, how can I ever show my face again?”

Hou San, already covered in blood, was kicked several times by He Biao, causing him to spit out even more blood. Struggling to raise his head, he looked at He Biao and said furiously, ”He… you motherfucker… you’ll never die a good death…”

”Still talking tough!” He Biao got even angrier, kicking him several more times, almost knocking Hou San unconscious.

”Biao Ge…” Just then, several people walked in through the door, led by He Tao. His face was alight with excitement, and as soon as he entered, he shouted, ”Biao Ge, I’ve got them. Gu Xianping and his son, I caught them both!”

He Biao turned to look, just in time to see Gu Xianping and Gu Yunzhi being brought in. Gu Yunzhi had blood on his face; he had been dragged in forcibly.

”Well done!” He Biao excitedly patted He Tao’s shoulder and said, ”Go, call Boss Hu and tell him the job is done.”

”Call Hu Liang?” He Tao was taken aback and said, ”Won’t we contact Hong Tianxiang directly?”

”Damn it, why are you asking so many questions!” He Biao glared at him and said, ”This task was assigned by Hu Liang in the first place. Why the hell should we bother Hong Tianxiang? As long as we’ve caught the people and Hu Liang pays up. As for his deal with Hong Tianxiang, let’s not concern ourselves with that!”

”Yes, yes, yes…” He Tao hurried out to make the call to Hu Liang. Meanwhile, He Biao turned around, sneering at Gu Xianping, ”I hear you’re an exemplary teacher. Huh, I think that’s all you are!”

Gu Xianping, who had never seen such a scene before, was terrified. Seeing He Biao turn his gaze to Gu Yunzhi, he fell to his knees with a thud and said with a quivering voice, ”Sir… please… if you have any issues, take it up with me, but please spare my son; he’s... he’s still just a child...”

”Shut your mouth!” He Biao replied irritably, scanning Gu Yunzhi from top to bottom, speaking with contempt, ”Intellectuals are the most spineless. I haven’t even said what I’m going to do, and you’re already kneeling. Damn, I hate dealing with these cultured types the most. Pretending to be upright gentlemen; what’s the use? In this day and age, only the fist rules!”

He Biao’s thugs burst into uninhibited laughter, viewing Gu Xianping as no different from trash.

He Biao waved his hand, ”Come on, drag them out. I’ll...”

Before he could finish, someone ran in through the door, exclaiming, ”Biao Ge, that guy is back again!”

”Which guy?” He Biao glared and said, ”Are you fucking making me solve riddles?”

”It’s... it’s Hou San’s big brother…”

”What? That motherfucker dares to come looking for death?” He Biao immediately stood up and gestured, ”Bring him in!”
