Urban Martial Saint

The night was dark, and the small garden behind the guesthouse was especially quiet. It was seldom visited at night, so even the lights were dim. But today was different, there were two people taking a walk in the garden.

Ye Qing and Zhou Hongbin had been walking here for nearly twenty minutes. Zhou Hongbin glanced around from time to time, seemingly waiting for something, and he was starting to appear impatient. After a while, he finally couldn’t help saying, ”Ye, didn’t you say that Secretary Hong would send someone to kill me? Where are they? Where? Do you really think you are so incredibly clever?”

”Don’t be in a hurry. You’ll meet these people soon enough,” Ye Qing replied with a calm smile, continuing his leisurely pace.

Zhou Hongbin was very frustrated, but seeing Ye Qing’s confident manner, he reluctantly followed behind.

After several rounds in the backyard, as they passed by a rockery this time, a deep voice suddenly came from behind, ”Don’t move!”

Ye Qing and Zhou Hongbin both turned their heads and saw two armed men emerge from behind the rockery, pointing their guns at them.

Zhou Hongbin was overjoyed at seeing these two, ”Lin Feng, why are you here? Did Secretary Hong send you to save me?”

Lin Feng was one of Zhou Hongbin’s subordinates, assigned by Hong Tianxiang. In other words, Lin Feng was Hong Tianxiang’s man, and Zhou Hongbin knew this, so he usually took good care of Lin Feng. Now that Lin Feng had arrived, he was naturally thrilled, thinking he was finally going to be rescued.

As he spoke, two more people emerged from the other side of the rockery and surrounded Ye Qing and Zhou Hongbin in the middle. Four guns pointed at them, and the four men didn’t dare move closer, standing about ten meters away, guarding them vigilantly.

The four of them knew, Ye Qing was a retired Special Forces soldier with formidable combat skills. If they got too close and he snatched their guns, all four of them would probably be done for.

Zhou Hongbin was thrilled. With the situation as it was, it seemed like an inescapable net had been cast, and Ye Qing was thoroughly trapped.

”Fantastic, hurry, catch this bastard!” said Zhou Hongbin, about to step towards Lin Feng. Suddenly, Ye Qing reached out and grabbed him, not letting him move.

”What are you doing?” Zhou Hongbin struggled for a bit but couldn’t break free, and furiously said, ”Ye, at this point, do you still want to resist to the bitter end? I’m telling you, you’d better let go voluntarily. Otherwise, according to the rules, they can shoot to kill you...”

Before Zhou Hongbin could finish speaking, a gunshot suddenly sounded from behind. Zhou Hongbin staggered, slowly turned his head to look at Lin Feng, and said in a shaking voice, ”You... you... you...”

Lin Feng, his face stern, pointed his gun at Zhou Hongbin’s chest and pulled the trigger repeatedly, firing three bullets until Zhou Hongbin fell to the ground before stopping.

Zhou Hongbin lay on the ground, his eyes wide open, his face filled with disbelief. He never imagined that Lin Feng would shoot him first instead of Ye Qing.

After Zhou Hongbin was down, Lin Feng swiftly turned his gun toward Ye Qing. Meanwhile, Ye Qing had been busy too; in his right hand was now a strand of the almost invisible Golden Silkworm Silk. At one end of the silk hung a metal hook. Just as Lin Feng was turning his gun in Ye Qing’s direction, Ye Qing threw the hook, snagging Lin Feng’s wrist and with a strong pull, wrested the gun from his grasp.

Lin Feng did not expect Ye Qing to have such a trick up his sleeve and was startled. He urgently shouted, ”Kill him!”

The other three immediately pulled their triggers, but it was too late. Ye Qing rolled on the spot, directly taking cover behind the rockery, and picking up two small stones, he hit two of the men on the head, knocking them unconscious. The third man managed to fire two shots, but they hit the rockery, completely missing Ye Qing. Ye Qing threw another stone, and he too was struck down.

Just as Lin Feng had picked up his gun, another hook flew out, pulling the gun from his grasp once more. Lin Feng had his gun, but he didn’t even have the chance to shoot. Realizing the situation was dire, his first reaction was to turn and run. However, his wrist was still caught by the hook, and with a strong yank from Ye Qing, Lin Feng was pulled to the ground.

Having neatly taken down four men, Ye Qing emerged from behind the rockery. This hook was what he had obtained last time from that girl, the Golden Silkworm Silk, very thin yet exceedingly tough, a splendid weapon. However, Ye Qing still found it somewhat awkward to use. In the hands of the girl, it might have been enough to snatch all four men’s guns with the hook, but Ye Qing could only manage to hook one from Lin Feng.

”Officer Lin, why go to such lengths?” Ye Qing bent down and looked at Lin Feng, ”You all had your guns pointed at me; you could have just taken Zhou Hongbin away. Why the need to kill him?”

Lin Feng frowned deeply and said in a heavy voice, ”Ye, Director Zhou was killed by you, not me. Don’t even think about framing me!”

Ye Qing gave a faint smile and said, ”I’ve seen framing before, but I’ve never seen someone like you trying so hard to pin the blame. It was clearly you who fired the gun, yet you claim I killed him? There are no fingerprints of mine on that gun; do you really think anyone would believe your false accusation?”

”Hmph, you wiped off your fingerprints and then shoved the gun back into my hand, smearing my fingerprints on it. You’re framing me!” Lin Feng looked at Ye Qing with cold eyes and said, ”Ye Qing, you’re done for. Killing a police officer is an absolute capital offense. No matter where you run, even to the ends of the Earth, it’s useless!”

”Ah, hearing you say that, I’m actually a little scared!” Ye Qing sighed and replied, ”But luckily, I have a witness.”

”A witness?” Lin Feng was taken aback, looked around in surprise, and asked, ”What... what witness? Ye Qing, even if you found a witness, what can you do? Who knows if that person would give false testimony? I’m a police officer, promoted by Director Zhou himself. Who would believe that I killed him?”

”The credibility of other witnesses may indeed not be high. But my witness is absolutely trustworthy!” Ye Qing said, lightly patting Zhou Hongbin next to him, ”Alright, stop playing dead and get up to look at your subordinate who you’ve promoted yourself.”

”Ah...” Zhou Hongbin exhaled a long breath, slowly sat up while clutching his chest, and glared at Lin Feng with a fierce expression, gritting his teeth and saying, ”Lin Feng, you... you actually dared to shoot at me!”

Lin Feng was immediately stunned. Ye Qing watched him and said with a light smile, ”How about that? Is my witness credible enough?”

This witness was more than credible; who else would have more authority to speak than Zhou Hongbin, the one who had been shot?

”You... you... aren’t you dead?” Lin Feng said in astonishment.

”Dead? I was damn near close to dying!” Zhou Hongbin rubbed his chest and said, ”Bastard, it’s lucky I was wearing a bulletproof vest, or else I really would be dead. Damn, it hurts so much even with the vest on. You really did go all in, didn’t you!”

Lin Feng’s eyes were about to pop out of his head, Zhou Hongbin had been wearing a bulletproof vest, and his shots hadn’t killed Zhou Hongbin. This made things really complicated!

Ye Qing looked at Zhou Hongbin and said with a light smile, ”Director Zhou, now do you believe what I said?”

”I curse his ancestors, Hong Tianxiang! I’ve done so much for him over the years. Even if I haven’t earned any merit, I’ve sure as hell endured hardship. That bastard, the first thing he thinks of when there’s trouble is to save himself, never considering others. I was so loyal to him, and he actually sent someone to kill me. If he’s heartless, he can’t blame me for being unjust!” Zhou Hongbin looked at Ye Qing and said in a deep voice, ”Ye Qing, the things I know and the evidence I have can definitely bring down Hong Tianxiang. But, do you have the strength to take him on? His background in Dengyang City is complicated; it won’t be easy to deal with him!”

”Nothing is impossible to a willing heart!” Ye Qing replied, ”As long as there’s evidence, even if he were the emperor, he couldn’t escape the law!”

”Good, then I’ll take a gamble with you!” Zhou Hongbin stood up, kicked Lin Feng hard, and said, ”Bastard, I won’t accept this. Hong Tianxiang, I’m going all in against you!”

At the same time, in Hong Tianxiang’s office, he was pacing anxiously in the room. He had a feeling that tonight’s matters wouldn’t be as smooth as he had hoped, and Lin Feng still hadn’t sent any news back, which made him even more restless.

After a while, Xiao Xu suddenly walked in from the outside and said in a grave voice as soon as he entered, ”Boss, I’m afraid... I’m afraid Lin Feng and the others have suffered a setback...”

”What?” Hong Tianxiang’s face changed, and he asked in a deep voice, ”What happened?”

”I don’t know.” Xiao Xu replied, ”I was just waiting outside the guesthouse and heard several gunshots from inside. But up to now, there’s still no news from Lin Feng.”

There was no need to say the rest; if Lin Feng had succeeded, he definitely would have called to report by now. The absence of any message from him by now meant he had certainly failed!

”This Ye Qing is really tricky!” Hong Tianxiang frowned. If they hadn’t managed to kill Zhou Hongbin this time, his own situation would be even more dangerous. Lin Feng might even have been captured by Ye Qing; if all these witnesses were sent to court, he could be sentenced to life imprisonment at the least!

Xiao Xu said in a low voice beside him, ”Boss, we need to figure out a way to resolve this matter quickly. Otherwise, once Ye Qing gets away, it’ll be hard to find him again!”

Hong Tianxiang pondered for a moment, then stood up and said, ”Call Wang Yuanbo, tell him we’ve found Ye Qing’s whereabouts and have him surround the guesthouse with his men. Tell him that I will personally direct this capture operation!”

”Yes!” Xiao Xu quickly nodded in agreement and rushed out to handle these things.

Hong Tianxiang walked to the living room with a deep frown, and before he could leave, his wife Wang Qing approached. As soon as she saw Hong Tianxiang, Wang Qing immediately said angrily, ”Old Hong, do you know? Yuan Xiaozheng, the one who fought with Mingming, has been released by Pan Hongliang. Go ask that bastard what he means by this. Does he not want to keep his position anymore?”
