Urban Martial Saint

Chen Guoxin was always arrogant in his ways, relying on his relationship as Wang Yuanbo’s brother-in-law, disregarding everyone around him. He spoke without filter, capable of uttering anything, even going so far as to hurl insults at Xu Canjun. Had it been anyone else, they certainly wouldn’t have acted like him; his temperament indeed secured his own downfall.

After mocking Xu Changzhi a few more times, Chen Guoxin left the building with his subordinates, heading to the hospital to arrest everyone related to Ye Qing.

They arrested Ye Qing’s father Ye Changwen, stepmother Zhou Hongxia, younger sister Yuan Xiaoyu, and younger brother Yuan Xiaozheng, along with Gu Xianping, Gu Yunzhi, Chen Junhou, Da Hou, and others, nearly taking them all without leaving a single one behind. Were it not for Gu Yaqing’s severe injuries, they probably would have taken her as well.

When Huang Feiming returned to the police station, Chen Guoxin had already handled the matter. Wang Yuanbo hurried over, reporting the incident to Huang Feiming as if to claim credit.

”Very good!” Huang Feiming nodded in satisfaction, saying harshly, ”Lock all these people up immediately. As long as Wu Anping doesn’t release our people, we won’t release ours. When he releases our people, that’s when we’ll release them!”

”Ah?” Wang Yuanbo was momentarily stunned, saying, ”Director Huang, you… you’re not going to interrogate Ye Qing and the others?”

Huang Feiming said, surprised, ”Who said I was going to interrogate them?”

Wang Yuanbo still somewhat disbelieved, saying, ”They… they kidnapped a police officer, deliberately stole a police car, severely damaging our police department’s image, aren’t you… aren’t you going to interrogate them personally?”

”Enough, spare those reasons for outsiders, don’t randomly slap those charges in my presence. What really happened, you know better than I do. I’m detaining these individuals to force Wu Anping to release our people, not to pursue any of their responsibilities,” Huang Feiming glared at Wang Yuanbo, continuing, ”Besides, the Lu Family’s massacre case is causing such a massive stir. Shouldn’t you prioritize solving this major case instead of dwelling on these personal vendettas? How exactly are you serving as the chief?”

Wang Yuanbo, greatly embarrassed, hurriedly bowed his head and said, ”Yes, I… I was a bit overzealous, I’ll arrange for people to investigate this case right away!”

”What is there left to investigate?” Huang Feiming said dissatisfied, ”Didn’t the people from the Lu family clearly state that the murderer was Li Qiang? What’s crucial now is capturing this Li Qiang. Immediately dispatch officers to blockade all the exits from the city. Thoroughly inspect every vehicle leaving the city, and send a team to inquire around Chengguan Town to see if any strangers have appeared recently. How can you not understand these basic investigative steps as the chief?”

It wasn’t that Wang Yuanbo didn’t understand these matters; he had simply misunderstood Huang Feiming’s intent. Hearing that Huang Feiming had ordered the arrest of Ye Qing and the others, he thought Huang Feiming was targeting Ye Qing, hence his focus shifted towards Ye Qing. Unexpectedly, that wasn’t Huang Feiming’s intention at all. Yet, on reflection, it made sense since Huang Feiming was also under pressure with such a significant murder case.

Following Huang Feiming’s orders, Wang Yuanbo immediately dispatched several criminal investigation teams to various hotels and inns within Chengguan Town and the county city. Additionally, he contacted the traffic police to instantly blockade all city exits and check all incoming and outgoing vehicles.

Watching Wang Yuanbo just now managing these tasks, Huang Feiming couldn’t help but shake his head in secrecy. Only now did Wang Yuanbo send people out for tasks, indicating he hadn’t done anything from last night up until now. With this amount of time, Li Qiang had likely already fled beyond the scope of Dengyang City.

Huang Feiming’s opinion of Wang Yuanbo decreased even more. To think that such a major murder case occurred, and he had waited until Huang Feiming’s arrival to take action. Such a person was truly unfit for his position!

Once Wang Yuanbo had passed on his orders, he immediately approached Huang Feiming with a smile, saying, ”Director Huang, all arrangements have been made. All exits from the city are blocked, and that Li Qiang won’t be able to flee Jiuchuan County even if he sprouts wings.”

Huang Feiming ignored him and took out his cellphone to call Xu Changzhi again. He had rushed over as soon as he learned of Xu Changzhi’s presence in Jiuchuan County, fearing Xu might encounter further trouble. However, after making several calls, Xu Changzhi had not answered, which seeded a foreboding feeling in him.

If Xu Changzhi truly experienced an accident in his jurisdiction, it would be the end of his career. Hence, his greatest worry wasn’t the Lu Family massacre or Wu Anping detaining their officers; it was Xu Changzhi’s whereabouts. If he couldn’t contact Xu Changzhi, he could not be at ease.

Chen Guoxin wasn’t dispatched by Wang Yuanbo to pursue Li Qiang but was left to command the center at the station. This major case was both a challenge and an opportunity. If Chen Guoxin could distinguish himself during this case, his promotion would be straightforward. Thus, Wang Yuanbo kept him at the station, ready to support any sector swiftly. In this way, regardless of who found Li Qiang first, Chen Guoxin had a chance to earn merit.

Wang Yuanbo’s actions aligned perfectly with Chen Guoxin’s desires. Remembering the two beautiful women he had arrested, he was exceedingly restless. Leaving Wang Yuanbo’s side, he immediately rushed to the detention center.

The guards at the detention center greeted him immediately upon his arrival, saying, ”Captain!”

”How’s it going? Have these people made any movement?” Chen Guoxin put on a serious face, but his heart was racing.

”There’s no movement inside, only that Xu Changzhi still claiming he’s the son of the vice governor. I think the kid’s crazy,” a police officer said mockingly.

Chen Guoxin spat, ”Pah, with his pathetic appearance, even saying he’s the son of a village chief would be a compliment. The son of a vice governor? He should look in the mirror first!”

”Hahaha...” Two officers burst out laughing. Just then, a cellphone on the table suddenly rang.

The officer glanced at it and immediately exclaimed in annoyance, ”Damn, here we go again, this Xu Changzhi’s phone is relentless. It’s rung a dozen times in just a while!”

”The kid seems to be quite busy...” another officer picked up the phone, looked at it, and said, ”It’s still an unknown number. Which stranger keeps calling him?”

”Give it here!” Chen Guoxin grabbed the phone and answered it, shouting directly, ”Listen up. I don’t care who you are to this Xu Changzhi, but you’d better stop calling. Xu Changzhi is involved in a kidnapping case involving a police officer. If you don’t want to be brought to the station for assistance in the investigation, then stay quiet and stop calling this number. If you call again, I’ll arrest you for obstructing official duties!”

After finishing, Chen Guoxin hung up the call without giving the person on the other side a chance to speak. He casually tossed the phone onto the table, smiled at the two officers, and said, ”Let me tell you, from now on, if you encounter this kind of situation, just respond like that. Nowadays, these people are all so timid, they piss themselves at the mention of a crime and definitely won’t call again!”

The two officers looked at him with admiration and said, ”The captain really is experienced!”

”Isn’t that obvious!” Chen Guoxin said proudly, ”Now, you two, go and bring that Xu Changzhi and those two girls here; I want to interrogate them myself!”

On the other hand, Huang Feiming, holding the phone, took a long time to recover. Finally, when Xu Changzhi’s phone connected, it was not Xu Changzhi answering. What was going on? What did it mean that Xu Changzhi was involved in a kidnapping case involving a police officer? What had happened to Xu Changzhi? Who was speaking on his behalf, and from that tone, it seemed like a police officer? Was Xu Changzhi arrested by the police? What exactly was happening?

Frowning deeply, silent for a long while, Huang Feiming suddenly turned and looked at Wang Yuanbo, speaking in a serious tone, ”Does your station have a tracking device?”

Wang Yuanbo was taken aback and said, ”A tracking device? We have one, but we don’t have a professional operator here.”

Huang Feiming said, ”Go, bring that device to me right now!”

Although Wang Yuanbo didn’t know what Huang Feiming was planning, he didn’t dare defy him and immediately directed some men to move the tracking equipment out. With the professionals among the detectives Huang Feiming had brought down from the city, they set up the device and nodded at Huang Feiming, indicating it was ready to use.

Huang Feiming dialed Xu Changzhi’s number again, but this time no one answered. Undeterred, Huang Feiming kept trying, but still no response. After repeatedly dialing six or seven times, the phone was finally picked up, an angry voice came through, ”You keep calling, keep calling! Do you want to go to jail, huh? Why do you keep trying to contact this Xu Changzhi, are you part of their gang? I’m warning you, if you call again, we’ll send someone to arrest you!”

Huang Feiming didn’t respond, only looking towards the policeman operating the tracking equipment. The officer nodded at Huang Feiming, indicating they had found the location, and Huang Feiming finally took a deep breath.

Huang Feiming abruptly hung up the phone and asked in a stern voice, ”Where?”

The man stared at the computer screen for a while before speaking softly, ”It’s very close to us, it seems... it seems to be inside the station...”

”What?” Huang Feiming’s eyes widened, his expression turning stern. If it was inside the station, did that mean Xu Changzhi had been captured by the Jiuchuan County police? And, the person who had spoken to him on the phone in such a confrontational manner was from the Jiuchuan County police station!

Huang Feiming looked at Wang Yuanbo, who, although unsure what exactly had happened, sensed trouble brewing. He cautiously asked, ”Director Huang, what... what exactly has happened?”

”What happened?” Huang Feiming clenched his teeth and said, ”Wang Yuanbo, you’d better pray nothing bad happens. Otherwise, I’ll be the first to strip you of your position!”
