Urban Martial Saint

Several doctors who followed Ye Qing hurriedly placed Chen Jun on a stretcher and returned him to the hospital, where Director Lin Guoqiang personally tended to Chen Jun to demonstrate his concern.

When Ye Qing and his colleagues arrived back at the hospital, Doctor Deng was still standing in the same spot, gaping at Director Lin Guoqiang’s efforts—the man’s mouth wide enough to fit an egg.

Director Lin’s medical skill was exceptional; however, since becoming the director, he rarely treated patients himself unless high-ranking officials or wealthy individuals from the county sought his services. This time, his personal attention to Chen Jun clearly showed how seriously he viewed the matter.

Although Doctor Deng did not know who Ye Qing truly was, he understood that he was utterly ruined, completely and irrevocably. He had managed to transfer to the county hospital not long ago, and now it seemed almost certain that he would be sent back to a rural clinic.

Indeed, Doctor Deng was unjustly blamed, for the hospital had always treated patients who couldn’t pay the deposits in the same way. Those patients lacked powerful connections, so no problems had arisen before. But how could he have known that Chen Jun, a patient unable to pay the deposit, would have such significant connections that even Lin Guoqiang would take his case so seriously? Had he known, he would have pretended not to see Chen Jun and avoided such a big hassle!

There’s no cure for regret in this world, and Doctor Deng’s regrets were futile. He was now facing inevitable dismissal, with no second option available.

Gu Xianping anxiously waited in the room, and when he saw Chen Jun being brought back, he was overjoyed, rushing over and urgently asking, ”How is he? How is he? Is he in danger? Doctor, please, I beg you to save him. I... I will manage to gather the deposit soon...”

Director Lin, standing by, felt as though Gu Xianping’s words were slapping him in the face, causing him immense embarrassment.

Director Lin smiled awkwardly and said, ”Sir, don’t worry, money doesn’t matter. We are doctors, and saving lives and aiding the injured is our duty. The most critical thing is to treat him first!”

”Really?” Gu Xianping was taken aback and asked in a low voice, ”But, a doctor just said... said that a deposit must be paid first?”

Director Lin replied, ”Sir, rest assured, I am the director here, Lin Guoqiang, and I say no deposit is needed!”

Gu Xianping hadn’t expected this doctor to have such a status, and he momentarily panicked. Just then, Ye Qing walked in, saw Gu Xianping by the bedside, and hurriedly said, ”Teacher Gu, what are you doing up? Please lie down and rest awhile.”

”Ye Qing...” Seeing Ye Qing, Gu Xianping’s eyes moistened as he said, ”Ye Qing, thank you. If it weren’t for you, Jun might have...”

”Teacher Gu, why say such things!” Ye Qing helped Gu Xianping back to the bed, saying, ”He is your student, and I am his classmate. Helping each other is only natural. Don’t worry, he will be alright!”

Gu Xianping nodded slowly and lay back on the bed, but suddenly opened his eyes wide, urgently saying, ”Ye Qing, I... I’m alright, please attend to Chen Jun first. My injury isn’t serious; don’t spend money on me—use it for Chen Jun’s treatment instead...”

Ye Qing knew Gu Xianping was worried about the expenses and felt deeply moved. Despite enduring such hardships over the years, Gu Xianping still put his students first, just like before. He would rather bear his own injuries than spend money on himself to save it for his students’ treatment, and Ye Qing could not help but admire him for it.

”Teacher Gu, don’t worry about the money!” Ye Qing patted Gu Xianping’s shoulder, stood up, and approached Chen Jun’s bedside to ask Director Lin, ”Director Lin, how is his condition? Does he need to be rushed to surgery?”

Director Lin answered, ”No need, his injuries are superficial. The main issue is excessive blood loss, which requires a transfusion. Once we stitch and bandage the wounds, he’ll be fine—it’s not a big deal!”

”That’s a relief!” Ye Qing let out a long sigh of relief, anxious that Chen Jun might have been critically injured. Although his Acupoint Seeking Technique could treat illnesses, such injuries, which did not involve the meridians, were beyond his capabilities.

Director Lin personally stitched Chen Jun’s wounds for nearly an hour, and after a blood transfusion, Chen Jun finally drifted into a heavy sleep. His breathing was steady, posing no serious concerns, and it looked like he would be able to get out of bed in a little over a month. Superficial wounds, unlike Zhao Chengshuang’s which affected his bones, allowed for a quicker recovery.

Meanwhile, Gu Xianping on the other bed was constantly anxious about the situation; upon seeing Chen Jun was alright, he finally felt relieved. However, his concerns quickly shifted to something else.

”Yaqing... How is Yaqing doing now?” Gu Xianping was even more worried about his daughter, as Gu Yaqing’s injuries were severe.

”Don’t worry, she’s fine,” Ye Qing replied with a gentle smile. ”I’ve taken her to a very safe place, arranged for specialized doctors and nurses, and provided professional medical equipment. Her condition is stable. Don’t worry; in a few days, I’ll bring a specialist neurosurgeon from out of town to perform surgery on her, and she’ll recover soon!”

Hearing his daughter was unharmed, Gu Xianping let out a long sigh of relief, then his expression fell as he said, ”Hiring a specialist neurosurgeon... How much will that cost?”

”Don’t worry about the money!” Ye Qing smiled gently and said, ”I’ve covered all those expenses. The doctor is my friend; he’s a good man and won’t charge us.”

”How... how can I accept this...” Gu Xianping looked at Ye Qing and said, ”Maybe you could tally up how much it cost, and I can gradually repay you once I’ve recovered.”

Ye Qing shook his head, speaking seriously, ”Teacher Gu, if it hadn’t been for you back then, I’m afraid I couldn’t have even finished school, let alone get into college. What you gave me was a skill that could sustain me for a lifetime — what’s this little bit of money in comparison?”

Gu Xianping’s eyes reddened, and he sighed heavily, saying, ”Ye Qing, I really wasn’t wrong about you. You truly are a good person!”

”Teacher Gu, you’re the real good person here!” Ye Qing replied with a light smile, just as he was about to reminisce about his school days, a sudden noise erupted in the hospital corridor.

Ye Qing furrowed his brows — it was already past ten, who would still be causing such a ruckus here? And the noise outside was quite loud; the people coming seemed very arrogant. Didn’t they fear disturbing other patients’ rest?

Ye Qing walked out of the ward and from a distance saw seven or eight people strutting over, followed by six or seven policemen. Leading them was a middle-aged woman, dressed lavishly, but her disdainful demeanor was really off-putting.

”Xiao Fang, it’s on the third floor, go check it out for me.” As the middle-aged woman spoke, she shouted: ”God damn it, has he gone too far or what? Look how he beat me up, look at my brother, look at my younger brother, they were all injured by him. I haven’t seen anyone this arrogant in Jiuchuan County before. So outrageous. I’m telling you, you guys must handle this matter properly today, otherwise, my husband will lose all his face. A Political and Legal Committee Secretary’s wife getting beaten up, if word gets out, would the political and legal departments of Jiuchuan County still have any face?”

Ye Qing initially didn’t know what was going on; hearing this, his expression suddenly turned cold. Was this woman Hong Tianxiang’s wife? So who was she looking for upstairs?

As those people walked by, Ye Qing hurriedly went to find Wang Qian’an, asking him to bring some people up with him.

Meanwhile, Wang Qing led those policemen up to the outside of Yuan Xiaozheng’s ward. Da Fei was sitting on a bench at the door, and immediately stood up upon seeing so many people arrive. However, seeing the policemen that Wang Qing had brought, he became somewhat deflated.

He dared hit Wang Qing’s people, but that didn’t mean he dared to hit policemen — he wasn’t Ye Qing!

Upon seeing Da Fei, Wang Qing instantly spirited up and pointed at him, loudly exclaiming, ”It’s him, quick, catch him!”

Several policemen rushed forward and pounced on Da Fei. Da Fei didn’t dare resist and was pinned down by several policemen, he struggled and cried out, ”What are you doing? What right do you have to arrest me?”

”What right? Because you injured us!” Wang Qing walked over, angrily stomping on Da Fei’s leg and shouted, ”You were so arrogant before? Show me how arrogant you can be now. You dared to hit me, show me how tough you are!”

Wang Qing was wearing high heels, and the pressure made Da Fei extremely painful, he cursed, ”Fuck, you shrew, get your damn hooves off me!”

”How dare you curse!” Wang Qing flew into a rage and started beating Da Fei with her purse.

Da Fei was almost dizzy from anger; the beating didn’t hurt much, but it was humiliating. Being beaten up by a shrew, how could he mix in society after this got out?

”Hey, what are you doing!” Just then, Yuan Xiaoyu walked out from the ward and, seeing the situation, was instantly anxious, saying, ”Why are you arresting him?”

”And you, you little slut!” Wang Qing turned and kicked towards Yuan Xiaoyu.

Yuan Xiaoyu quickly dodged, and Wang Qing missed her kick, stumbling a bit, almost falling to the ground. She flew into a rage, turned around and yelled, ”Xiao Fang, catch her!”

Two policemen quickly ran over, and Yuan Xiaoyu, somewhat frightened, stepped back several steps, urgently saying, ”What are you doing? I haven’t committed a crime, what right do you have to arrest me?”

”Do we even need a reason?” Wang Qing sneered, saying, ”My husband is Hong Tianxiang, what more reason do you need?”

While talking, two policemen had already grabbed Yuan Xiaoyu. Yuan Xiaoyu struggled fiercely, one of the policemen impatently grabbed her hair and yanked her out of the room, cursing, ”Behave yourself!”

Yuan Xiaoyu, dragged by her hair from the ward, was in so much pain that tears almost came out. Wang Qing was excitedly laughing, pointing at Yuan Xiaoyu, saying, ”Right, right, Xiao Fang, just like that, drag her to the police station!”

Just then, a cold voice suddenly came from behind: ”What era is this, and police are still beating people?”

Yuan Xiaoyu and Da Fei both lit up, hurriedly lifting their heads to look. Wang Qing and the others also paused, turning around to see Ye Qing standing in the corridor, coldly watching them. Behind Ye Qing, seven or eight men in military uniforms stood, their presence far more commanding than that of the police on her side!
