Urban Martial Saint

”Eldest Brother!”

”Brother!”

Da Fei and Yuan Xiaoyu simultaneously called out excitedly when they saw Ye Qing; they both felt a sense of security.

”Brother?” Wang Qing was taken aback, looked Ye Qing up and down, and said, ”You’re her brother?”

Ye Qing walked over and said, ”That’s right!”

”Hey, I thought their whole family was dead, but out comes another one!” Wang Qing said, ”What about your parents? How is it that, with something like this happening, the parents go hide and play turtle, leaving a few ignorant kids to deal with it? You’re pretty bold, huh? You think you can scare me with a couple of soldiers?”

As he spoke, Wang Qing glanced at Wang Qian’an and the others, and said, ”What’s the deal with you guys? Did you come with him to scare me? Humph, what a coincidence today is, it seems anyone dares to come and shit on the Hong Family’s head. Gathering a bunch of stinking soldiers and thinking you’re something special, huh?”

Wang Qing’s brother also came over and gave Wang Qian’an and the rest a cold glance, and said, ”Which garrison do you belong to? How did you end up in the city area? I’m going to give Minister Wu a call in a bit, and I really ought to ask what’s going on with his soldiers! Freely entering and exiting the city and wearing military uniforms— who approved your procedures?”

Wang Qian’an and the others were originally there to help Ye Qing with his business and didn’t have any personal grudges involved. But, being scolded like that by Wang Qing and the others, anyone would get angry.

Wang Qian’an looked at Ye Qing and said with a grave voice, ”Mr. Ye, what shall we do?”

Ye Qing shrugged his shoulders and said, ”Let’s do it according to Minister Wu’s habits.”

Wu Anping had a fiery temper; following his habits meant no need for politeness.

”Alright!” Wang Qian’an replied, leading his men over.

Wang Qing, somewhat frightened, said, ”What? What are you planning? I’m telling you, entering the city area without authorization is a violation of military regulations, and the police can arrest you!”

Wang Qian’an paid no heed to her and walked straight over. Seeing Wang Qian’an and his men’s menacing approach, Wang Qing hurriedly stepped back and said urgently, ”Xiao Fang, hurry, arrest them all for me!”

The officers looked at each other, none daring to move forward. This was actually not surprising; they could handle ordinary citizens, but trying to arrest well-trained soldiers was a different matter altogether. It wasn’t key whether they could fight them off or not. Even if they could, who would dare to provoke the military’s people? Moreover, Jiuchuan County’s Armed Forces Chief, Wu Anping, was always domineering, not someone the police could afford to provoke. Who would dare to get into a conflict with the military’s people!

Wang Qian’an and his men went over and pressed all of Wang Qing’s brothers and like to the ground. Most of these people were officials, and being pressed down by Wang Qian’an and his men, they immediately started cursing nonstop, shouting about filing complaints against them. But after a few kicks from the soldiers, they all shut their mouths.

Being a woman, Wang Qing wasn’t arrested, but she was frightened enough that her face turned pale and she said tremblingly, ”You... you’re trying to rebel? My husband is Hong Tianxiang, the secretary of the Jiuchuan County Political and Legal Committee, you... you better let my brothers go, or I won’t let you off...”

”Hong Tianxiang?” Wang Qian’an gave her a glance and said coldly, ”As it happens, Hong Tianxiang is already with our forces. You might as well keep him company.”

”What?” Wang Qing was stunned, unaware of what had transpired.

Seeing this situation, the police officers also felt awkward. The leading Xiao Fang hesitated for a moment and said cautiously, ”Hey, you... you’re breaking the law. Let them go quickly...”

”Breaking the law?” Wang Qian’an glanced at him and suddenly slapped him, and said, ”What law are we breaking?”

After being scolded by Wang Qing, Wang Qian’an had been holding back his anger. But since Wang Qing was a woman, it wasn’t appropriate for him to strike her. Xiao Fang picking this time to speak up was like asking for trouble. All of Wang Qian’an’s pent-up anger was unleashed on him.

Xiao Fang was stunned by the slap, his face turned pale with anger, and he shouted, ”You dare to hit me? You dare to attack the police!”

As he said that, Xiao Fang reached for his gun at his waist. However, as he was about to act, Wang Qian’an suddenly bellowed, ”Move!”

Several soldiers immediately charged forward, knocking all the police officers to the ground, disarming them with swift and decisive actions.

Xiao Fang was pinned down by someone and couldn’t move at all; he could only shout loudly, ”What are you doing? Trying to grab my gun? Do you know how serious a crime that is?”

Wang Qian’an bent down to look at him and said coldly, ”You attacked the national army; do you know how serious a crime that is?”

Xiao Fang was immediately stunned; he had never heard of the crime of attacking the military because no one dared to attack the military. But this charge—how come it sounded much more severe than attacking the police!

After dealing with these police officers and a few people from Wang Qing’s family, Wang Qian’an took them away directly. The police were of course sent to the police station, while Wang Qing’s people were sent directly to the military district. Tonight, Wu Anping had made it very clear that he intended to thoroughly bring down Hong Tianxiang. Anyone related to Hong Tianxiang with a dirty trail, would be in trouble this time!

Watching the people from the Wang Family and these police officers being taken away by the soldiers, Yuan Xiaoyu’s eyes went wide. Even Old Fifth Yang sometimes couldn’t do anything about these police officers, let alone beat them up in such a public place. But those brought by Ye Qing didn’t give any face to these police officers at all; these soldiers were too formidable. And what was the deal with these people? What was their relationship with Ye Qing? Why would they come to help Ye Qing?

On the other hand, Da Fei was brimming with excitement; he had always known that Ye Qing was no simple character. The big plan that had been stirred up tonight must have had an agenda, and he hadn’t expected that Ye Qing could actually mobilize the army of Jiuchuan County — this had once again greatly increased his admiration for his boss.

”Big brother, how did it go? Did you take care of everything?” Da Fei walked over excitedly.

”Ninety percent done!” Ye Qing smiled, then turned to look at Yuan Xiaoyu, whose hair was disheveled and who had finger marks on her face; he sighed softly and asked, ”Xiao Yu, how are you doing?”

”I’m fine,” Yuan Xiaoyu wiped away the tears at the corner of her eyes in a hurry, looking at those who were taken away, she said anxiously, ”Brother, what’s going on with these soldiers? That Wang Qing is Hong Tianxiang’s wife, and Hong Tianxiang is the secretary of our County Political and Legal Committee. You won’t get in trouble for doing this, will you?”

”Hahaha...” Ye Qing chuckled and responded, ”Don’t worry, there won’t be any problems. Not even Heaven’s Emperor can bully our family without cause!”

Yuan Xiaoyu felt warmth in her heart and nodded continuously, saying, ”Brother, with you here, no one dares to bully us!”

Yuan Xiaoyu had gone from initial rejection to distrust and now to complete trust in Ye Qing — quite a large change. Although her change might seem somewhat mercenary, to Ye Qing, as long as his father Ye Changwen could live well, he didn’t care whether his sister’s feelings towards him were genuine or not.

Yuan Xiaozheng was still sleeping in the room. His injuries weren’t very serious. A children’s fight was just that, after all. He would probably be able to go to school after a few days of rest. However, he had several wounds on his head, which were reportedly inflicted by the police, which angered Ye Qing considerably. It was one thing for children to get hurt in a fight, but for the police to retaliate and beat up Yuan Xiaozheng, that was too much incompetence for a police officer!

After leaving some instructions with Yuan Xiaoyu, Ye Qing walked out of the hospital room and called his classmate Lin Peng to investigate which police officer had injured Yuan Xiaozheng. Ye Qing intended to pursue this matter to the end; anyone capable of such actions no longer deserved to be a police officer.

While Ye Qing was making the call, Lin Guoqiang came over. He had just received news from a friend that Wu Anping had personally intervened to arrest Hong Tianxiang, which gave him quite a scare. Lin Guoqiang knew that the military was not supposed to intervene in local matters, but the fact that Wu Anping stepped in under such circumstances made him wonder what exactly Ye Qing’s relationship with Wu Anping was, or what kind of status Ye Qing had to make Wu Anping take such action.

Lin Guoqiang was no fool; although he did not know Ye Qing’s status, he knew that Ye Qing was definitely someone of significance, so he hurried over to pull some strings with Ye Qing.

After listening to Ye Qing finish his call, Lin Guoqiang hurriedly approached with a smile and said, ”Mr. Ye, your friend has been fully bandaged and is receiving a blood transfusion. With proper convalescence and nutrition, he’ll be fine in a while!”

Ye Qing nodded and replied, ”That’s good, thank you, Director Lin!”

”No need to be polite,” Lin Guoqiang said as he chatted with Ye Qing for a while, trying to probe into Ye Qing’s background but to no avail. While he was feeling frustrated, Yuan Xiaoyu walked out of the hospital room and asked, ”By the way, brother, Manager Lin brought Xiao Zheng to the hospital today and even helped advance the deposit. Should I give her the money tomorrow, or should I give it to her now?”

Before Ye Qing could reply, Lin Guoqiang immediately interjected, ”Mr. Ye, is this your sister?”

”Yes,” Ye Qing nodded.

”Oh, you didn’t even tell me your sister was hospitalized here,” Lin Guoqiang hurriedly turned and stopped a nurse, ”Go clean up the deluxe ward upstairs, and then move Mr. Ye’s brother up there.”

The nurse swiftly went off to handle the matter, while Yuan Xiaoyu looked on with a surprised expression, having no idea who Lin Guoqiang was.

Ye Qing promptly declined, ”Director Lin, there’s no need for any trouble; it’s not any serious illness, just some superficial skin injuries…”

”Ah, Mr. Ye, don’t be so polite with me!” Lin Guoqiang stopped Ye Qing, insisting, ”You are a friend of Minister Wu, and I’m also well acquainted with Minister Wu. If I don’t make proper arrangements for your brother’s hospital stay, how could I face Minister Wu in the future? It’s all minor; please don’t refuse. Come on, let’s get a few people to move him right away. Also, while we’re at it, let’s have a comprehensive check-up done for Mr. Ye’s brother.”
