Wang Yuanbo glared fiercely at Chen Guoxin before reluctantly sporting a smile and making his way to Huang Feiming, saying, ”Director Huang, it’s all a misunderstanding, a total misunderstanding. As soon as this friend came in, he asked for Ye Qing. As you know, Director Huang, Ye Qing is suspected of kidnapping our police station’s deputy director and is a felon. And his seeking out Ye Qing at this time led our Captain Chen to suspect that he might be involved with the case, which is why he was detained. I’m so sorry, truly sorry!”

”Sorry? Is ’sorry’ of any use?” Huang Feiming gritted his teeth and said, ”Wang Yuanbo, how exactly do you manage your subordinates? You’re so audacious, daring to do anything!”

”Director Huang, the situation was quite complicated at the time, so there were some mistakes in our handling,” said Wang Yuanbo. ”However, him coming over at this time, and even speaking on behalf of Ye Qing, led our officers to suspect he was an accomplice of Ye Qing. This is a reasonable assumption. All things considered, both sides are at fault here. Rest assured, Director Huang, I will definitely punish those officers involved in this matter!”

As he spoke, Wang Yuanbo moved closer to Huang Feiming and whispered, ”I truly apologize, Director Huang. The one in charge of this matter is my brother-in-law. He can be a bit impulsive in his actions, but he is otherwise quite decent. How about I have them apologize to your friend? We’ll cover your friend’s medical expenses and losses. What do you think?”

Hearing these words, Huang Feiming was not angry but amused. He sized up Wang Yuanbo and slowly said, ”So Wang Yuanbo, you still don’t know who this friend of mine is?”

”You’re right, I really haven’t had the chance to ask,” Wang Yuanbo looked at Xu Changzhi and said, ”Director Huang, this must be a junior member of your family. Ah, it’s really difficult to discipline the young people of today!”

”A junior family member? I’m not qualified for that yet!” Huang Feiming stared at Wang Yuanbo and said word by word, ”His name is Xu Changzhi, and his father is Xu Canjun!”

”Xu Canjun?” Wang Yuanbo was initially stunned, then his complexion drastically changed, his mouth gaping open as if he had swallowed a live mouse, on the verge of collapse.

Wang Yuanbo was crystal clear about who Xu Canjun was. Now he finally understood why Huang Feiming was so anxious. Even if his friend was arrested, there would be no need for such worry. But if Xu Canjun’s son was captured, that was a different story altogether!

Chen Guoxin was also completely taken aback. He knew he was completely done for, truly done for. Remembering how he insulted and beat Xu Changzhi, he now wished he could find a spot to bash his head in and die.

Huang Feiming angrily glared at Wang Yuanbo and said in a heavy voice, ”Wang Yuanbo, you’ve done a fine mess!”

Having said that, Huang Feiming stopped paying any attention to him and immediately went to grovel to Xu Changzhi. This incident was even worse than when Xu Changzhi was hijacked by the Carjack Gang. Setting aside why Xu Changzhi was arrested, just the fact that he was beaten by the officers was hard to explain. If this matter got out to the province, even if Xu Canjun didn’t say anything, Huang Feiming could forget about having peace!

”Young Master Xu, I’m truly sorry, sincerely sorry. Rest assured, I will deal with this matter seriously and ensure you are satisfied,” said Huang Feiming, nodding and bowing, more troubled than anyone else. He had barely calmed down the Carjack Gang incident when Wang Yuanbo stirred up such a disaster, catching him completely off guard.

”Hmph, deal with it seriously?” Xu Changzhi glared at Huang Feiming and said in a deep voice, ”Is this a matter of dealing with it seriously? I’d like to ask, what crime did I commit in the first place? It’s one thing to be detained here, but why was I also beaten? Are you police or the mafia?”

”I’m sorry, truly sorry. Young Master Xu, I will definitely hold these officers accountable and provide you with a satisfactory answer,” Huang Feiming said awkwardly. ”Young Master Xu, how about I first take you to a hotel to rest? I will personally handle this matter. What do you think?”

”Don’t bother!” Xu Changzhi waved his hand and said, ”Right now, I am being detained here, considered a suspect, so I can’t just leave at will. Otherwise, who knows what crime I’ll be accused of next? Most likely, I’ll be executed by a firing squad. I wouldn’t dare run!”

Listening to Xu Changzhi’s mocking words, Huang Feiming’s face turned beet red. He gave Wang Yuanbo an angry glance and, catching the hint, Wang Yuanbo hurried over and said, ”Young Master Xu, I am truly sorry. I have just made inquiries. They... It was a case of wrongful arrest; Young Master Xu, you haven’t committed any crime and are free to leave anytime...”

”Wrongful arrest?” Xu Changzhi looked at Wang Yuanbo and said, ”What do you mean by wrongful arrest? Huh? Explain that to me. Wrongful arrest and then you beat me up—is this how you police handle matters? Oh, so you arrest me, beat me, and then just brush me off with an arbitrary wrongful arrest? It’s lucky I have some stature and you even apologized to me. But what if it was an ordinary citizen? Would they just accept being beaten for nothing?”

Wang Yuanbo was exceedingly embarrassed. Only now did he realize the difficulty of ’easy to invite Buddha, hard to send Buddha away.’ It wasn’t hard to bring Xu Changzhi in, but letting him go was proving to be truly difficult. If Xu Changzhi kept sitting there, unwilling to leave without a proper explanation from Huang Feiming, a lot of people in the station would probably suffer, and he, Wang Yuanbo, would be in trouble too.

Wang Yuanbo clenched his teeth and abruptly turned to yell, ”Chen Guoxin, come here!”

Chen Guoxin trembled, nervously looked at Xu Changzhi, and slowly moved over.

Seeing Chen Guoxin’s demeanor, Wang Yuanbo was seething with anger. He went forward and slapped him several times, furiously saying, ”What the hell were you thinking? Do you have a pig’s brain? Don’t you think before you act? Daring to arrest Young Master Xu, have you lost your mind with the courage of a bear and Leopard?”

Chen Guoxin was beaten until he had no energy left to be angry, and he hurriedly bowed to Xu Changzhi repeatedly, his voice trembling, ”Young Master Xu, I’m ... I’m sorry, please ... please forgive me, it’s ... it’s just that I’ve been blind, I’m ... I’m really sorry ... ”

”Oh, you shouldn’t apologize to me, I can’t bear it!” Xu Changzhi hastily stepped aside, his voice cold, ”Just now you were saying that if I was Xu Canjun’s son, you would be Xu Canjun’s father. I definitely can’t accept your apology with that kind of hierarchy!”

Upon hearing this, Huang Feiming was so angry he was about to blow smoke from his nose. Wang Yuanbo’s face was also full of frustration, while Chen Guoxin continued to shiver uncontrollably. Just now, he had not spared any words insulting Xu Changzhi, and even Xu Canjun had been dragged into it; now thinking about it, he realized that disaster really does come from the mouth.

”Damn it, you really dare to say anything!” Wang Yuanbo kicked Chen Guoxin in the bend of his knee, and Chen Guoxin involuntarily knelt on the ground.

Xu Changzhi gave a cold smile, though his expression was still filled with anger. Seeing this, Wang Yuanbo realized the situation was difficult and became both shocked and angry. Looking at Chen Guoxin trembling on his knees, he was even more furious; this bastard had really caused a huge disaster this time.

”Bastard, what use are you!” Wang Yuanbo cursed angrily and suddenly took a police baton from another cop and started beating Chen Guoxin mercilessly.

Chen Guoxin didn’t dare to resist and could only cover his head with his arms, crying out miserably as Wang Yuanbo beat him. However, no one around tried to pull him away. Wang Yuanbo himself was furiously relentless, and before long, Chen Guoxin was beaten bloody and lay wailing on the ground.

When Wang Yuanbo could no longer swing the baton, he gasped for air, threw the baton aside, and said to Xu Changzhi, ”Young Master Xu, I’m truly ... I’m really sorry. Rest assured, I will hold him fully accountable. If there is anything you are unhappy with, just ... just tell me, and I will make sure it’s handled properly.”

”Young Master Xu, Director Wang will surely give you a satisfactory answer,” Huang Feiming hurriedly added, ”Why not go back and rest for a while? Your injuries don’t seem light, you should get some ice packs on them to reduce the swelling, or else it will be difficult!”

Xu Changzhi, seeing how Chen Guoxin had been beaten, felt his anger subside by half. He snorted coldly, ”What’s the rush to reduce the swelling? Anyway, I will be going home in a couple of days, and it would be just right for my father to see how these policemen do their jobs. To see what kind of life these common people are leading!”

Huang Feiming was extremely embarrassed and kept grinning apologetically, ”Young Master Xu, you’re joking again. Governor Xu has myriad matters to attend to daily, this ... this trivial matter should not trouble him. Young Master Xu, rest assured, I will certainly reform the police discipline, and such incidents will absolutely not happen again!”

”Yes, yes, yes, starting from today, I will seriously straighten out the discipline in our department!” Wang Yuanbo quickly added, ”I have already arranged rooms at the county guesthouse. Young Master Xu, why don’t you go rest first?”

Xu Changzhi shook his head, ”There’s no need to rest, I want to see someone!”

”Someone?” Wang Yuanbo and Huang Feiming exchanged glances, curious, ”You ... whom do you want to meet?”

Xu Changzhi said in a deep voice, ”Ye Qing!”

Wang Yuanbo and Huang Feiming’s expressions both changed; only now did they remember that Xu Changzhi had been caught by Chen Guoxin while trying to find Ye Qing. So, what exactly was the relationship between Xu Changzhi and Ye Qing?

However, judging by the current situation, no matter the relationship between Xu Changzhi and Ye Qing, it was not good news for them.

Wang Yuanbo hesitated and looked at Huang Feiming. Huang Feiming simply gestured with his hand and said, ”What are you waiting for? Haven’t you arrested Ye Qing? Hurry up and arrange for Young Master Xu to meet him!”

”Ah?” Wang Yuanbo was stunned again, Huang Feiming’s words sounded as if he didn’t know he had arrested Ye Qing himself. The order had been given by him personally.

Huang Feiming glared at Wang Yuanbo, gave him a meaningful look, and Wang Yuanbo immediately caught on, nodding hastily, ”Yes, yes, Ye Qing has indeed been arrested by us. Young Master Xu, please wait a moment; I’ll arrange for it now!”

After speaking, Wang Yuanbo quickly ran out of the detention room. Just as he closed the room door, he immediately turned and instructed a confidant, ”Go get Ye Qing out quickly, and remember, make sure it’s arranged properly!”
