Urban Martial Saint

Last night, Wang Yuanbo received orders from Huang Feiming and immediately called Wu Anping to release the detainees. However, Wang Yuanbo didn’t specify what had happened, only telling Wu Anping that this was an order from Huang Feiming.

With Wu Anping’s volatile temper, aside from orders from his former superiors, who else could command him? It wasn’t just Huang Feiming, even if orders came down from the provincial department, Wu Anping dared to defy them. Thus, when Wang Yuanbo relayed Huang Feiming’s orders, not only did Wu Anping refuse to release anyone, but he also gave Wang Yuanbo a scolding, not giving them any face at all.

Naturally furious, Wang Yuanbo exaggerated the situation when telling Huang Feiming. And through this embellishment, the issue escalated, painting Wu Anping as if he were deliberately disrespecting Huang Feiming.

Huang Feiming had never tolerated such treatment from someone in a lower position than himself and was extremely angry. He personally called the Minister of the City Armed Forces Department, Chen Chunyang, to relay the situation. However, Chen Chunyang simply told him not to get agitated and showed no intention of handling the matter, which only infuriated Huang Feiming further. As a result, he escalated the matter through the Secretary-General of the Municipal Committee. At this point, solving the case had become secondary to him; he must regain the police department’s dignity and suppress Chen Chunyang!

The Secretary-General of the Municipal Committee was genuinely surprised by the complexity of the situation after hanging up the phone. He directly reported the matter to several leaders for them to make a decision.

The city’s main leaders were in the midst of discussing the Jiuchuan County massacre, and unexpectedly, another pressing issue emerged - the discord between the military and the police, which was a serious problem.

Meanwhile, Huang Feiming was leisurely waiting in his office, confident that with the issue raised to the city level, Chen Chunyang would surely not have the upper hand. Sure enough, after about an hour, the Secretary-General of the Municipal Committee called back, instructing him to solve the case with full effort. As for the conflict between the police and local military, the city would intervene and mediate.

Indeed, Huang Feiming was well aware that this so-called mediation meant the city would step in to handle the matter. Looking at the big picture, he was convinced there was no wrongdoing on the part of the police department; it was the military that had overstepped in making the arrests. Therefore, even if someone were to be dealt with, it would be Chen Chunyang and Wu Anping, enough to satisfy his need for retribution.

Huang Feiming was very satisfied with the outcome and immediately summoned his subordinates to prepare to send a special team to Jiuchuan County to handle the case. However, before everyone had assembled, he received news: Xu Changzhi had unexpectedly driven to Jiuchuan County!

This news stunned Huang Feiming for a good while, and he hurriedly tried to call Xu Changzhi, but Xu Changzhi was not picking up. Huang Feiming grew anxious—Jiuchuan County had just experienced a massacre, and now no one knew whether it was safe. If something were to happen to Xu Changzhi there, he would have trouble explaining it.

After two minutes of silence in the office, a police officer ran over and said, ”Director Huang, the deputy directors have arrived; we’re ready for the meeting!”

”No need for a meeting!” Huang Feiming suddenly waved his hand and said, ”Let Old Wan set up a special task force and head to Jiuchuan County immediately. Also, prepare a car for me; I’ll personally go to Jiuchuan County!”

”Ah?” The officer was momentarily stunned. Such matters didn’t require Huang Feiming’s personal involvement. He was the Chief of the Municipal Police Bureau, and instead of commanding from the bureau, he was heading to Jiuchuan County. What exactly did this mean? Could it be that he was taking this case that seriously?

Of course, the officer didn’t know that Huang Feiming’s decision to go to Jiuchuan County was mainly concerning Xu Changzhi, not because of the massacre.

At six-thirty in the morning, Ye Qing had just gotten up when he received the news that the Lu Family had nearly been wiped out; the information was already spreading throughout Jiuchuan County. Moreover, the murderer had been identified as Li Qiang, who was kidnapped thirteen years ago.

Upon hearing this news, Ye Qing’s first thought was of the fool who had vanished the night before. Old Fifth Yang had been in the middle of discussing funding for impoverished students with him, and Ye Qing hadn’t paid much attention to the fool. Now, it seemed certain that the fool had been taken by Li Qiang!

Last night, Ye Qing had also heard about some things the Lu Family had done, particularly to Li Qiang’s family. The Lu Family had been bullying the town of Chengguan for years, making countless enemies. The fool had been beaten into stupidity by the Lu Family, whose father had also suffered grievous injuries from them, eventually dying of rage. The fool’s mother had died from a stroke after the Lu Family seized their property. It could be said that the Lu Family had committed many wrongdoings against the fool’s family. Now that such a tragedy had befallen them, it seemed like retribution.

Even those discussing the matter outside were mostly delighted by the revenge. In Chengguan Town, the once high-profile direct and collateral members of the Lu Family kept a very low profile overnight, mostly gathering together for fear of another annihilation. Those who once swaggered and bullied the village now didn’t even dare to step outside, and if they did, they scurried across the streets, heads down, like rats. Even when they heard curses around them, they didn’t dare to respond.

The brazen way they acted in the past was now met with equal cowardice. Every debt will be paid back in time, and the Lu Family now deeply understood this truth. But it seemed too late for regrets!

The deaths of so many in the Lu Family in one night were indeed shocking. That Li Qiang could carry out such a massive crime made Ye Qing wonder what Li Qiang had been up to outside. Nevertheless, considering the deeds of the Lu Family, Ye Qing couldn’t be bothered with these affairs. After all, Li Qiang still had a conscience; he hadn’t killed any children or pregnant women. Otherwise, Ye would definitely not have stood by!

After breakfast, Ye Qing and Da Fei went to the hospital together. The condition of everyone was stable, and even Hou Da obediently let the doctor dress his wound. However, it was obvious that he didn’t sleep all night, as he stayed by his wife’s bedside, not willing to leave even for a moment.

Seeing that everyone was recovering well, Ye Qing felt a little relieved. The current trouble was that Mad Dog was still detained by the Linnei County Police Station, arrested on charges of stealing a police car. Getting him out seemed to be a bit tricky. Ye Qing was hesitating about whether or not to use Chen Chunyang’s connections to handle this matter.

In the end, Ye Qing still dismissed the idea. After all, Mad Dog’s case was a minor issue, and it really didn’t seem appropriate to bother Chen Chunyang with such a trivial matter.

At ten-thirty in the morning, Ye Qing had just left the hospital and was preparing to pay a visit to Old Fifth Yang. However, as soon as he stepped out of the hospital, two police cars came towards him, and a dozen police officers rushed out of the cars, surrounding him.

The man leading the team sized up Ye Qing and said, ”Ye Qing, right? We now suspect you are involved in kidnapping police, inciting others to steal police cars, and resisting arrest. We need you to come back to the station with us to assist in the investigation.”

Ye Qing frowned. Why were the police suddenly trying to take him to the police station now? What on earth had happened? As far as he knew, Wang Yuanbo had returned to the county the previous evening. If Wang wanted to arrest him, he should have acted last night, so why wait till today?

Ye Qing knew there had to be a problem. If Wang Yuanbo didn’t arrest him last night, it showed that he really didn’t want to have a conflict with Wu Anping or get involved in this matter. And now that the police were here to arrest him, there was only one possibility: someone else had ordered Wang Yuanbo to do so. And anyone who could order Wang Yuanbo around must hold a not insignificant position!

After pondering for a few seconds, Ye Qing said, ”Can I make a phone call first?”

Ye Qing was very clear that whoever was ordering Wang Yuanbo to go after him had significant influence in Jiuchuan County and even the entire Dengyang City. If he had any conflict with the police now, things would become even more troublesome, and it would be easier for that person to find a handle on him. Thus, the only thing he could do at this moment was to call Chen Chunyang to find out what exactly was happening. Meanwhile, he had no choice but to go with the police to the station to cooperate with the investigation!

But to his surprise, his request was flatly denied by the police officer: ”No!”

Ye Qing slightly furrowed his brow and went silent for a moment, not saying a word, just looking around. Old Fifth Yang, to prevent any trouble for Ye Qing at the hospital, had specifically stationed quite a few underlings nearby, ready to take orders from Ye. And sure enough, as Ye Qing turned his head, he spotted one of Old Fifth Yang’s men drinking soda at the nearby convenience store.

The man saw Ye Qing too and, from a distance, waved at him, shaking the soda bottle in his hand, as if asking, ”Do you want a drink?”

Ye Qing was in no mood for a drink. He waved at the man and then pointed at the policemen around him. He tried to gesture further, but the impatient police officer approached him, saying, ”What’s with the dawdling? Let’s go!”

Without any further discussion, he grabbed Ye Qing and they were off. Ye Qing couldn’t resist and followed the policemen to the car. Meanwhile, Old Fifth Yang’s guy was still stretching his neck at the entrance of the convenience store, watching the scene with a puzzled expression, clearly not understanding Ye Qing’s intentions.

Ye Qing was greatly frustrated. Now that he was being taken away, could he really not even get a message back? The intelligence of the underlings Old Fifth Yang hired seemed to be somewhat lacking.

As Old Fifth Yang’s underling watched Ye Qing get into the car, he waved at the police car as if saying goodbye to Ye Qing. Just then, a young man came over and seeing the underling’s actions, asked in confusion, ”Old Han, what are you doing?”

”Hey, Liang Zi, let me tell you, Ye just now looked so powerful!” Old Han turned his head excitedly and said, ”Just now, two police cars came, and about a dozen policemen invited him onto the car. I don’t know if they were taking him out for a meal or something, but I guess it was our county police inviting him for a meal. Ye even waved at me, seems like he recognizes me now!”

”The police inviting for a meal?” Liang Zi was taken aback and said, ”Since when is Ye so close with the police? Are you sure they were inviting him for a meal?”

Old Han affirmed, ”Of course! Ye waved at me and then pointed at those policemen. What else could that mean!”
