Urban Martial Saint

”Yes!” Wang Yuanbo answered loudly and hurriedly got up to take care of the matter.

Wang Yuanbo was also overjoyed inside. He was worrying about how to catch Li Qiang, when Ye Qing came up with such a practical method, which was very likely to lead to Li Qiang’s capture. It was simply great news for him.

Huang Feiming looked at Ye Qing and said, ”Mr. Ye, if we can capture Li Qiang, I will definitely apply to the provincial office to award you a great merit!”

Ye Qing offered a faint smile, without saying much. In fact, he didn’t want to catch Li Qiang at all. Although Li Qiang had killed many people, Ye could tell that he was a very conscientious person, valuing loyalty and righteousness, which Ye admired.

However, Ye also knew that this case needed a result. After all, the case had become far too big, and if Li Qiang did not turn himself in, many other people would suffer. That was why Ye provided such a clue.

Wang Yuanbo ran out to arrange for the police to handle the matter, while Gu Xianping sat for a while and then went to the restroom. However, the moment he stepped out of the private room, he was spotted by an acquaintance.

This acquaintance was named Zhou Dingkun, a vice-principal at a high school, and had started teaching at the school around the same time as Gu Xianping. Zhou, however, was better at playing politics and had since become a vice-principal, while Gu Xianping had even lost his job. The difference in their circumstances could truly be described as heaven and earth.

Zhou Dingkun was quite surprised to see Gu Xianping here and suspected he was mistaken. He specifically went to the restroom, followed and watched for a while, and once he confirmed it was Gu Xianping, he became even more perplexed.

He knew Gu Xianping was now destitute and even struggling to afford meals, so how could he possibly be dining in such a luxurious place?

With his curiosity piqued, Zhou Dingkun hurried back to his private room. Today, a few leaders from his school were treating several leaders from the education bureau to a meal. Inside, people were toasting and drinking merrily. When Zhou Dingkun entered, Principal Wang Jiadong immediately passed him the bottle of liquor and said, ”Old Zhou, it’s your turn. Come on, have a drink with the leaders!”

Zhou Dingkun took the bottle, but did not pour a drink. Instead, he smiled mysteriously and said, ”Everyone, guess who I just saw?”

”You need to drink first, Old Zhou. This is a great opportunity to toast the leaders!” A heavily made-up woman spoke up loudly. This woman, named Li Yan, was the school’s music teacher and had an ambiguous relationship with Principal Wang Jiadong. Thus, she didn’t show much respect towards the vice-principals.

”Teacher Li, don’t rush me, let me finish!” Zhou Dingkun said with a smile, ”Just now, outside, I saw a former teacher from our school—Gu Xianping!”

”Gu Xianping?”

”What is he doing here?”

”Old Zhou, are you sure you’re not seeing things?”

All were astonished, as seeing Gu Xianping here was indeed unthinkable. It’s likely he had never been to such a luxurious place in his life. Now without a job, he was even less likely to be here!

These people were also out of the loop and completely unaware of the earth-shattering changes that had occurred in the county.

Vice Director of the Education Bureau Li Kason furrowed his brow and said, ”Gu Xianping, the former teacher from your school?”

”Yes, that’s him!” Wang Tong confirmed from the side, ”He hoarded antiques and refused to hand them over, so we dealt with it and he was dismissed from his public position. Who knew he wouldn’t repent, even inciting his daughter to steal at school. When his daughter fell from a building because of this, he even made a scene at the school. This man is simply a troublemaker!”

”So, it’s him.” Li Kason sneered coldly, for he certainly knew of Gu Xianping. He had had his eye on a painting in Gu’s possession and had asked him several times to give it as a gift, but Gu Xianping had flatly refused. It was then Wang Tong who framed Gu Xianping for hoarding cultural relics, confiscated the painting, and then delivered it to Li Kason. And because of this incident, the school had dismissed Gu Xianping. Li Kason was fully aware of what had transpired.

Wang Tong said, ”This old fellow still has money to spend here, could it be money earned from selling antiques?”

Li Kason’s eyes lit up. He had an affinity for antiques, and if Gu Xianping still had any, he wanted them for himself.

”Given his salary situation, he shouldn’t be able to afford to dine here, could he be working as a waiter?”

”Forget it, who could eat with someone like him waiting tables?”

Everyone discussed, mocking and ridiculing with their tipsy banter. Finally, Li Yan slammed her hand on the table and said, ”It’s pointless for us to talk so much here. Let’s go and see what that old man is actually doing. If he’s treating someone, I want to see who he’s inviting to dine in such a fancy place!”

”Exactly, exactly, what right does he have to eat here!” Wang Tong nodded repeatedly, stood up first, and led the crowd to the private room where Gu Xianping was.

Two waiters were standing at the entrance of the private room. Seeing Wang Tong and his group coming over, one waiter immediately greeted them, saying, ”Sir, may I help you with anything?”

”No need!” Wang Tong waved his hand dismissively, walked straight to the door, and reached out to push it open but was stopped by another waiter.

”Excuse me, sir, but there are people in this private room,” the waiter said.

”Nonsense, of course, I know there are people inside. What else am I here for!” Wang Tong glared at him and, without further ado, pushed the door open and led the crowd in grandly.

The people inside were chatting when suddenly the door burst open, and they all looked up immediately.

At a glance, Wang Tong didn’t recognize most of the people in the room, including Old Fifth Yang. So, he didn’t take any of them seriously and walked straight to the table, chuckling, ”Oh, isn’t this Teacher Gu? What are you doing here, Teacher Gu? Treating people to a meal or here to drink at a banquet?”

Seeing Wang Tong and others, Gu Xianping’s face immediately turned dark. He had lost his job because of these people, and his daughter Gu Yaqing almost lost her life after falling down the stairs because of Wang Tong. He absolutely detested these people to the bone. But, after all, he was a frail scholar without even the ability to shout at people.

”I thought Teacher Gu was here working a part-time job, but you’re actually here dining,” Li Yan turned her head to look around, her mouth smacking as she observed the room decor, ”Tsk, tsk, tsk, this room is really beautifully furnished, much nicer than ours. Eating here must not be cheap, eh, Teacher Gu? I heard you were selling books. Who knows how many books you had to sell for this meal!”

Women can be viciously sarcastic, and Li Yan was clearly such a woman.

Hearing this, Gu Xianping didn’t get angry, but Huang Feiming was already annoyed. Although he was not familiar with Gu Xianping, Gu was after all at his table. If these people were mocking Gu Xianping, didn’t that mean they didn’t take him seriously, too?

”Who are you?” Huang Feiming frowned and said, ”This is our private room. If you don’t have any business here, please leave!”

”What about your private room? Does it mean nobody else can enter?” Wang Tong sneered, ”You really are quite overbearing, acting as if the restaurant belongs to you!”

”Director Wang, be careful, these are Teacher Gu’s friends. You wouldn’t want to anger them. Otherwise, Teacher Gu would surely be upset,” Li Yan said with a laugh.

”Right, right, sorry, Teacher Gu. Your friend just said something really unpleasant, that’s why I spoke up. After all, we’ve been colleagues for such a long time. I’m here mainly to show concern for you, no ill intentions!” Wang Tong said with a smile, ”Teacher Gu, you’re treating today, right? Well, actually, treating people to a meal isn’t about the spectacle but living within your means. How about it? Did you bring enough money today?”

Huang Feiming became enraged, slammed the table, and shouted, ”You’re deliberately picking a fight, aren’t you?”

Wang Tong immediately retorted angrily, ”Damn it, we came for Gu Xianping, what’s it got to do with you? Shut your mouth!”

Wang Tong, who relied on his brother-in-law Hong Tianxiang, always bullied others wherever he went. The night before, all of Hong Tianxiang’s group, including Wang Qing, were captured by Wu Anping and taken to the military, not yet released, so he was unaware of the massive change in the Hong family and still spoke as arrogantly and domineeringly as before.

Old Fifth Yang had initially wanted to break up the fight, but after hearing what Wang Tong said, he simply shut his mouth. Because he knew this matter was beyond persuasion.

Ye Qing was all smiles, originally wanting to personally deal with Wang Tong and settle the matter with Gu Yaqing. He hadn’t expected that before he could find Wang Tong, Wang Tong delivered himself to his doorstep. Moreover, seeing how Wang Tong spoke to Huang Feiming, it seemed he wouldn’t need to intervene!

”You’re telling me to shut up?” Huang Feiming’s eyes instantly bulged with fury, saying, ”Who the hell are you to talk to me like that?”

With an arrogant expression, Wang Tong introduced, ”Jiuchuan County High School’s Vice Principal Wang Tong. These are leaders from the Education Bureau, this one is Deputy Director Li Kason. And these few are our school’s main leaders, and this is our Principal Wang Jiadong. Kid, which unit are you from?”

Wang Tong’s group indeed seemed formidable, with a deputy director and several principals, none of them ordinary figures. That’s why he was so confident himself, not taking Huang Feiming seriously at all. He knew that Gu Xianping had no background and couldn’t possibly know any powerful people, hence his excessive arrogance.

After Wang Tong introduced his side’s identities, he looked down on Huang Feiming with disdain and contempt.

Just then, the private room door opened, and Wang Yuanbo walked in with a phone in his hand. Seeing the situation in the room, he couldn’t help but be surprised, asking, ”What... what’s going on here?”

”Eh? Director Wang, what are you doing here?” Seeing Wang Yuanbo, Wang Tong and others were greatly surprised, and even Wang Tong’s tone changed somewhat. After all, Wang Yuanbo was the Chief of the Police Department, a more formidable figure than all of them combined!
