Urban Martial Saint

Wang Yuanbo shivered with fright. Although Huang Feiming was not known for his amiability, he was slick enough to rarely lash out like this in public. And to utter such words was even less common. What on earth had happened to make him this angry?

”Director Huang, what exactly happened?” Wang Yuanbo said in a trembling voice. ”I... I really don’t know anything!”

”Don’t know?” Huang Feiming pointed at the position on the screen and said angrily, ”The tracking device has pinpointed the person’s location, and you’re telling me you don’t know? Wang Yuanbo, do you still want to play dumb with me?”

Wang Yuanbo felt very wronged as he said, ”Director Huang, I’m not playing dumb. What exactly happened?”

”If you don’t know anything, then what’s the use of you being alive!” Huang Feiming cursed angrily and, not wanting to delay further, asked in a serious voice, ”Can you pinpoint the exact location?”

The technician shook his head and said, ”I’m afraid we can’t get much more specific than this. However, if someone has been captured, they should be in the detention room or the interrogation room. Whether in the detention room or the interrogation room, all communication devices would be handed over to the storage department for safekeeping.”

Huang Feiming, who had just been bewildered by the urgency, realized at that moment and immediately turned around and said, ”Wang Yuanbo, where is your storage department? Take me there immediately!”

Wang Yuanbo was still completely confused, but he dared not say much and hurriedly led Huang Feiming and the others straight to the storage department.

As they approached the storage department, Huang Feiming took out his phone and dialed the number once more. This time, from a distance, he heard the ringtone of Xu Changzhi’s phone.

Huang Feiming was ecstatic and hurried forward a few steps, only to see a policeman in the storage department had just picked up the ringing phone, cursing incessantly. Just as the call connected, Huang Feiming heard a scolding voice say, ”Are you fucking mad? I already told you not to call again, and you’re still calling? Do you think we won’t arrest you? Let me tell you, obstructing official affairs is a serious offense too, you better not harbor any hope of getting lucky, I...”

By this time, Huang Feiming had already approached the policeman. Without needing the phone, he could clearly hear every word he was speaking.

The policeman was in mid-rant when suddenly he saw Huang Feiming approach and froze for a moment. He didn’t recognize Huang Feiming, so he showed no sign of panic and simply glared as he asked, ”What are you trying to do?”

Huang Feiming had come dressed in casual clothes and was not in uniform, so the policeman mistook him for a civilian.

Huang Feiming, looking at the phone in his hand, said in a stern voice, ”How did you get this phone?”

”Hey, when did it become your turn to question me!” The policeman immediately glared and said, ”I’m asking you, what are you doing here? This is the police station. You’d better answer my questions honestly. Otherwise, I am entitled to suspect that you’re trying to steal police data, and I can detain you for that!”

Huang Feiming didn’t pay him any attention and with an even colder voice demanded, ”This phone, how did you get it?”

”Are you fucking deaf? You...” The policeman was about to explode when Wang Yuanbo walked over with a group of people.

”Director Wang!” When the policeman saw Wang Yuanbo, he immediately stood to attention.

Wang Yuanbo didn’t bother with him and instead walked nervously to Huang Feiming’s side, whispering, ”Director Huang, what exactly... exactly happened?”

The policeman’s eyes widened. Wang Yuanbo was the Director of Jiuchuan County Police Station, yet he was so respectful in front of this man, even addressing him as Director Huang. The identity of the man before him was then obvious. In Dengyang City, the only person to whom Wang Yuanbo would refer in such a manner was the city police director Huang Feiming. Was this unremarkable-looking man really Huang Feiming? Had he actually been arguing with Huang Feiming?

The policeman felt like he wanted to die. Even if Huang Feiming were to let it go, Director Wang would definitely not let him off the hook.

Huang Feiming ignored Wang Yuanbo, only staring at the phone as he asked in a severe tone, ”I’ll ask you one more time, how did you get this phone?”

Wang Yuanbo also looked towards the policeman’s phone. He didn’t know why Huang Feiming had such a reaction to this phone, but from Huang Feiming’s expression, he could tell that the situation was very bad.

The policeman, looking at Wang Yuanbo, said tremulously, ”This... this... this is a suspect’s phone that we confiscated...”

”A suspect?” Huang Feiming exploded with anger, slamming his hand down on the desk as he shouted, ”Who are you calling a suspect?”

Seeing Huang Feiming’s temper flare up, even Wang Yuanbo was startled. Who was the owner of this phone, and why was Huang Feiming so angry?

The policeman’s legs went weak at Huang Feiming’s outburst, and he stammered, ”It’s... it’s someone Captain Chen arrested. I don’t know, I don’t know anything...”

Huang Feiming demanded urgently, ”Then where is the person he arrested?”

The policeman’s voice trembled as he replied, ”In the... the number three detention room, Captain Chen is interrogating them...”

”What?” Huang Feiming’s eyes suddenly bulged, the so-called interrogation was in fact a process of coerced confession. He couldn’t even begin to imagine the consequences if Xu Changzhi were forced to confess!

Wang Yuanbo also felt the seriousness of the situation, because he knew that Captain Chen must be Chen Guoxin. Seeing the angry look on Huang Feiming’s face, it seemed very likely that someone was about to suffer this time.

”Where is Detention Room Three!” Huang Feiming turned and glared at Wang Yuanbo, angrily demanding, ”Take me there!”

Wang Yuanbo didn’t dare utter a word, hurriedly leading Huang Feiming to Detention Room Three. There were two policemen standing at the door of the detention room, who immediately stood up straighter upon seeing Wang Yuanbo approaching.

But now Wang Yuanbo was in no mood to pay attention to them and quickly unlocked the door of Detention Room Three.

There were six or seven people in the detention room, with Xu Changzhi and those two girls conspicuously among them. Xu Changzhi’s hands were handcuffed to the window bars above, the bars so high off the ground that Xu Changzhi was barely touching the floor on tiptoe. His wrists were chafed and bloody from the cuffs, a common method used in interrogations, more agonizing than getting beaten.

Having only stood there briefly, Xu Changzhi was already dripping with sweat, while Chen Guoxin sat lazily on a chair, with no intention of asking questions. He was doing this on purpose - to torment Xu Changzhi and make the girls feel sorry for him, so he could then go on and threaten them into submission.

The enchanting woman was doing a bit better; she must have been through quite a lot and was just threatening the policemen with her words. On the other hand, Xu Changzhi’s sister was crying pear blossoms with raindrops, having never seen such a scene. Seeing the blood on Xu Changzhi’s wrists, she was overcome with distress.

Seeing Xu Changzhi’s sister like this, Chen Guoxin felt the timing was almost right. He had just moved close to Xu Changzhi’s sister and was about to speak when someone pushed the door open.

Chen Guoxin was furious, turning to scold the intruder, only to see Wang Yuanbo leading a group of people in; he was momentarily taken aback. When he spotted Huang Feiming by Wang Yuanbo’s side, he immediately straightened up, his expression one of embarrassment, wondering if Huang had seen him harassing the girl.

Huang Feiming, however, ignored him, staring fixatedly at Xu Changzhi, handcuffed to the window bars, and was completely stunned.

Wang Yuanbo felt the atmosphere growing increasingly tense. He quietly approached Chen Guoxin, whispering, ”What happened?”

Chen Guoxin replied, ”This kid, as soon as he entered our police station, demanded to see Ye Qing, acting all high and mighty. I figured he was Ye Qing’s accomplice, so I also took him in, getting ready for the interrogation!”

”Really?” Wang Yuanbo frowned, speaking gravely, ”Director Huang seems furious, what exactly did you do to provoke him?”

”I didn’t provoke him, I haven’t done anything!” Chen Guoxin shrugged, completely perplexed.

Wang Yuanbo didn’t believe Chen Guoxin’s words because he felt that Huang Feiming’s mood couldn’t simply be described as angry anymore. Inside that anger, there was also a lot of fear. What exactly was going on?

After a full two minutes, Huang Feiming finally came back to his senses, rushed over to Xu Changzhi and held up his legs to prop him up a bit, to relieve some of the pressure on his hands.

”What are you dallying for? Hurry up and get him down!” Huang Feiming turned and bellowed, and immediately, several people came and fumbled with the handcuffs, getting Xu Changzhi down.

The others, including Wang Yuanbo, were startled and began to feel uncertain. Could it be that Huang Feiming knew the suspect? If that were the case, this issue could become very troublesome!

”Damn it, you bastard, all you know is causing trouble!” Wang Yuanbo glared at Chen Guoxin and said sternly, ”You even dare to arrest Director Huang’s friend, have you grown tired of living?”

Chen Guoxin looked aggrieved and whispered, ”Brother-in-law, I... I didn’t know, okay? He came in demanding to see Ye Qing. You said to arrest everyone associated with Ye Qing, didn’t you? He’s related to Ye Qing, how was I to know he was a friend of Director Huang... Brother-in-law, could you please plead for me? I truly didn’t know they were friends. There’s a saying, ’Ignorance is not a crime,’ right? I didn’t do it on purpose!”

”Plead for you? How do you expect me to plead for you?” Wang Yuanbo was exasperated, staring at Chen Guoxin fiercely, ”You, you just can’t go a day without causing trouble for me, can you?”

Chen Guoxin bowed his head, also quite depressed. If he had known Xu Changzhi was Huang Feiming’s friend, of course, he wouldn’t have dared to do such a thing.

Meanwhile, Huang Feiming had gotten Xu Changzhi down. Xu Changzhi finally caught a few breaths and regained some composure.

Looking at Xu Changzhi, Huang Feiming asked with a trembling voice, ”Young Master Xu, how... how do you feel?”

Xu Changzhi, seething, glanced at Chen Guoxin and said coldly, ”What do you think about my current state?”

Huang Feiming immediately shut up. Both sides of Xu Changzhi’s face were swollen, clearly having been beaten. The son of the Executive Vice Governor, to have been beaten without cause by some low-ranking policemen – it was an insult that would be hard for anyone to swallow!

”Wang Yuanbo, come the hell over here!” Huang Feiming stood up, raging at Wang Yuanbo, ”Explain to me, what the hell is going on?”
